I love Goldie. The UFC experience wouldn't be the same--in a good way--without him.
My point is knowing "what" an armbar, triangle, single leg, double leg, jab/right cross combo isn't exactly the entire extent I would think he'd have learned after doing commentary for the last SIX fucking years. In reality he brings nothing to the technical aspect of things. I'm not expecting him to infringe on Rogans grappling breakdown thing because Rogan actually does a good job with that already. Why doesn't he take an interest in researching striking styles and trying to inject a little knowledge there to compliment the grappling knowledge Joe has? Joe Rogan is no expert, but he knows enough to at least allow the casual viewer to know what they are actually seeing, as well as possible transitions/submissions that are possible and what's possible depending on who's positioned where.
It just seems like he remains relatively clueless to this very day, which is kind of sad since he's part of the commentary "team" for the largest MMA organization in the world. As far as just knowing what the above mentioned things are that really isn't enough to justify his position doing commentary for 3+ hours a night every UFC event. The average casual faggot wearing a Tapout shirt and a sideways cocked UFC hat at the sports bar knows what those things are and probably even a little something more. This dude has had the best seat in the house for over half a decade for almost every single event the UFC has put on in that time and yet he still knows jack shit.

^^ that is a quality ninja job right there.
I don't think crack is good medicine for any ailment. If your life is in shambles, just sell everything you own and bet it all on a dog to double up. If you lose you can either rob a gas station or drink yourself to death in vegas and live with a hooker, Leaving Las Vegas style.
Cecile Peeples is a ref too? I somehow missd that little tidbit. He actually lived up to his rep and stood up a fight from mount. Had several very quick standups. He makes up for his shitty reffing and judging with that little karate move he does to kick off the fight.
Goldberg, I like him. He doesn't bring a lot of knowledge, and I agree that after seeing thousands of fights, you would think he would take some interest. But I think the dynamic is that he plays the buffoon so that Rogan will explain everything to him. I think it is intentional. There are a lot of fans that have no idea what is happening. When I watch MMA with non-fans, it is shocking how little they know. So i think having Joe cnstantly explain shit to Goldie is part of the dynamic.
Also, Goldberg can bring the excitement. He gets riled up. He did a really good job on the weigh ins that one time.
I've heard other people say this, too. It could be true. In any case, I know that when I'm listening to a commentary team that's NOT Rogan and Goldie, then I feel like there's something missing.Quote:
