Why do the Buckeyes go to a BCS over Boise?
I think Boise deserves a BCS game over Ohio State. I know some arent going to agree but OSU has played 2 teams in the top 10 this year and lost both .There two best wins are against Michigan St and Northwestern not exactly power houses. Boise on the other hand has went undefeated ,they are ranked higher than the Buckeyes and the only time Boise played a top 25 team they played number 15 Oregon and won . You cant do much better than undefeated.
At first Ohio State was predicted to play Texas a game they would get stomped in . Now I heard Fox is trying to put Bama vs Texas so they could have 2 SEC vs Big 12 games. That would leave OSU playing Utah ,a game Ohio State will probably still lose
The BCS is becoming a complete joke when you have teams like Cincy and 4 loss Virginia Tech playing in BCS games and undefeated Boise and one loss Texas tech not
Re: Why do the Buckeyes go to a BCS over Boise?
You have to remember (am sure you know this) the power conference champions all go. That's the way it has been since they started and is just the way it is. I have no problem with it, but a rule should be added that they have to be a top 15 BCS team (eliminate V Tech) As for Texas Tech, they can't go, as I am sure you know, since only two teams from a conference can go. The downside to letting them in, is then you shut out teams like Boise.
As for Boise State, yes they shoud get the nod over the Buckeyes. Better team, better BCS standing too.
As for the BCS "becoming" a complete joke? That has been the case from day one. The power conference presidents and AD's want no part of a playoff system with their guarentee in this current system of dollars pouring into their coffers. Most of these suits have never played the game nor probably have even watched one. It is now and always will be about dollars. The dollars THEY are getting.
Yes, one can say playoffs would generate a lot of dollars. The real championship game would/could generate some big bucks. But the power conferences would lose their guarenteed piece of the pie PLUS the big dollars their conference championship games generate.
Re: Why do the Buckeyes go to a BCS over Boise?
I actually heard the guy in charge of the Big 12 say at half of the OU/Missouri game that he would vote against a playoff because all the players he talked to like the current system. I was like WHAT ?? Who does he think he is kidding?.
I think its the right rule that only 2 teams should get into a BCS game from each conference but they should make some exemptions to the rules. I like the one you said about you should have to be in the top 15 of the BCS to get a bid .They will more than likely not change anything though.
You're right its all about money .The networks and schools make huge money on games like Texas/ OU or Texas Tech /OU in the season on prime time and if everyone knew OU,TX, and TT were going to be in the playoffs either way they couldn't make as much money during the season because those games aren't as important.
With Boise generating some much excitement with their win over OU in 2006 I thought that would be enough to slid them in over a Ohio State team that has done nothing all year. I'd love to see OSU get beat by Texas or even Utah

Re: Why do the Buckeyes go to a BCS over Boise?
OSU vs Texas ::lmao:: (another big stage for OSU to lose)
Utah vs Bama
Cincy vs VT
USC vs Penn St
Oklahoma vs Florida
Out of the 5 one is worth watching (FL-OU)
Now what they should have done was left Ohio State out in the cold and put:
Texas vs Bama
and
Boise St vs Utah
Now that would make it at least 3 games worth watching
who's geared up to see Cincy -VT ? I know I am

Re: Why do the Buckeyes go to a BCS over Boise?
I got a buddy who writes for the Blue & Gold Illustrated (Notre Dame), he got the call that they are sending him to Hawaii to cover the game. The fucker gets to spend a week in Hawaii all expenses paid and watch the Irish get the snot beat out of them.
Tough life he has huh?

Why not? They both won their conf. and only have one loss.
