    MMA contest

We decided to put together a MMA contest for us to go against each other over a course of events. I was thinking of using the poll of who has a best chance to win for the contest. Since I have been putting up the toughest matchups to pick in the poll I thought it would be best we didnt bet those together since it would be hard to get a streak going.I think the contest should work like this:

Either $5 ,$10, or $20 bucks to get in which ever the most people want

Winner takes all unless there are more than 10 entries then we can pay 2

Lines will be used from the ones I post on the poll and will stay the same even if the lines moves at the books

Each person uses a fake bankroll and bets 1-3 units per poll on the one fighter they choose. You can bet max 3 units but must bet at least 1 unit per poll.

We can do this over a course of 5,10 or 15 events.(thats not alot consdering Strikeforce,WEC,and UFC)

Looking for around 10 guys or more

If you want in please post and put in your post whether you want the entry fee to be 5,10 or 20 dollars

this is the idea if people want something different please chime in and whatever the most people want is what we'lll go with

lets keep it like 5 or 10 bucks to enter, just so everyone is comfortable putting up the money. After we do a couple, we can up the entry fee.

I think the parameters have to be more defined. I liked it better when it was just picking every fight, like poopoo suggested.

Either way, I am in. I think I can beat you guys pretty consistently.

Yeah. I am confused about the whole line setting/odds thing. I like the just pick the fight mentality better.

    Re: MMA contest

Okay, just to reiterate, since Luke scolded me in the other thread, here's my idea for a side contest:

Everyone throw in $5 a month. Then all those participating will make picks for an entire MMA card--I'm thinking there should be at least 10 fights, but I guess that could be negotiable--and the first person to pick an entire card correctly gets all the cash. If no one picks an entire card correctly within the month, the cash rolls over and everyone add's $5 more.

If we could get 10 people to do this and no one wins after 3 or 4 months then that could mean a decent little payout.

    Thoughts?

    I am down with whatever.

I will kick in $5 for SPX's thing.
I will kick in $10 for Luke's thing (though I am still confused about the rules).

I think you should just make a spreadsheet with everyone's name on it. Then list all the fights in June and July. When the grouping is over, whoever picked the most correct wins. No odds, no bankroll. You pick every fight.

I like Lukes idea. you put up 10 bucks, or what ever, basically to buy in.

You get like a 20 unit bank roll. you can wager on any fight in the month 1-3 units per wager.

Whoever has the most units at the end of the month wins.

I'm in for both too but dont you think you should get more points for picking a dog or a -110 favorite over a -600 favorite?

I honestly dont care just everyone decide, get 10 people in here and lets do this

See I like that better because picking a -600 favorite is alot easier than picking a -105 favorite so why should both be worth 1 point?

I also say you have to bet 1-3 units on EVERY fight that we list for the month

It looks like it's 2 against 2 so far, maybe a poll on what to do?

^ I was just trying to make it simple. Make it a hypothetical bankroll then. Just leave out all the units for simplicity. Make it a flat amount. Everyone starts with a hypothetical $100. Bet whatever you want as often as you want, but no more than 20% of your bankroll (otherwise it will be like final jeopardy at the end- and everyone will be betting the whole bankroll to catch me, and I will also have to bet like 60% to stay ahead of you all).

Lol I like an even simpler version: No bankrolls or anything. Just pick the fights.
