Yeah he would be much better off with a couple pounds less of muscle than losing the edge of being one of the strongest guys in the division.

From the sounds of it Dana won't be giving him the option of remaining at 170.

In the UFC you have no choices you're just told what to do ,who to fight ,what shirt to wear etc. I hate that about the UFC

I can kind of see where they're coming from though. Dude failed to make weight on two occasions and REFUSED to lose half a pound in over an hour this last time. Clearly if he was unable/unwilling to cut that half pound he is too heavy for this division. Missing weight once is one thing, missing weight another time two years later is also one thing, but refusing to cut one half pound with a maximum time limit of 2 hours is a completely different story.

I see where they are coming from too.I hate when fighters come in overweight .I was just saying I dont agree with the UFC if they are telling him to go to 185 .
It should be the fighters decision imo but if he knows he cant make 170 then he should willing go to 185

I doubt it was just obstinance. There's a point at which you just can't lose any more water safely; he was probably at that point. I mean, he gave up a ton of cash for that half-pound.

This is my assumption. He didn't do it because he COULDN'T.

I thought it was the best card that's come around in a LONG time. Maybe that's because there was so much anticipation for the Sonnen fight, or because it was the first time in a LONG time that we've seen Silva really be challenged, or because there wasn't a boring fight on the whole thing, or. . .

Whatever it was, it kicked ass, even if it was slightly gayed up Silva putting on that triangle.

Was the best part of the event for me.

But you are right, best UFC I have seen in a long time now.

I just think it's time for him to lose.

First it was BJ. Then Fedor. Next is Silva.

    Then GSP.

The triangle was the highlight of the event for me too. I was sort of cheering for Sonnen to win, but Silva is an all time great. It was a career defining moment... he found a way to win it at the buzzer. Even though I don't like Silva very much, I respect the hell out of what he has done. He is the GOAT in the UFC imo.

For him to hit a buzzer beater was pretty amazing. I just couldn't believe he pulled it out with a couple minutes remaining.

In the same way you didn't think Werdum was worthy of being the guy to finally dethrone Fedor, I felt the same way about Sonnen beating Anderson. I think Vitor will be a very tough test.

The biggest difference between Fedor and Anderson, though, is that Anderson has a few legitimate losses on his record. So to get another, well it sucks, but it's not unprecendented. Fedor was genuinely undefeated . . . in 31 fights or whatever it was.

Also, I am honestly in the camp that says Silva's competition has been somewhat weak. There have been some good guys in there, but also a lot of middle tier guys, especially since he beat Henderson.

He beat some middling guys like Leben, Leites, Cote... but his wins over Franklin, Maia, Marquart, Sonnen, and Henderson are impressive. His wins over Henderson and Franklin are the most impressive to me.

He has fought the entire top of the division... who else could he have fought at MW? You can say MW is weak in general...
