    Shine Fights 3

    May 15, 2010

    Din Thomas vs. Ricardo Mayorga
Murilo “Ninja” Rua vs. Travis Galbraith
    Nick Thompson vs. Eduardo Pamplona
    Braulio Estima vs. Rick Hawn
    Alexandre Ferreira vs. Jamal Patterson
Luiz Azeredo vs. Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett
    Luciano Azevedo vs. Zac George

    I assume we will get lines on Thomas/Mayorga, Ninja/Galbraith, Thompson/Pamplona, and Braulio/Hawn

I am really looking forward to the debut of Braulio, but I probably won't bet it because Hawn is a beast. I think Din will win easily. Haven't looked at the others.

    Thoughts?

Din Thomas should have no problem winning .Last I seen Mayorga was way out of shape for this fight.

I am thinking about taking a "bet the dogs" strategy for this card. Except for Mayorga. He will lose.

    Re: Shine Fights 3

The 3 competitive fights on this card could all go to the dogs.

I wanted to bet on Braulio, but Hawn is a beast. He could keep it standing and win for sure. Major fan of Braulio, I have had the pleasure of getting triangled by him. But Hawn has value. A lot of bjj studs lose their first match. Jacare lost his, Marcelo. Hawn is a legit threat and could end up being a force in his own right. He is an olympic judoka and he has power in his hands. Of course Braulio is the the reigning absolute ADCC champion. So he is the best no-gi grappler in the world. But his hands probably suck. And he is not a strong guy. He wins with technique and timing. I can't imagine he is going to be able to sling Hawn to the mat if Hawn doesn't go there on his own. Hawn has value for sure (as much as it hurts to say it, I think Braulio bit off too much in his fist fight. Take a warm up fight. Geez.)

Patterson can beat Ferreira by doing the same thing. They are both grapplers, Ferreira being better. But Patterson can also stand. Patterson was an AA high school wrestler, so I think he should be able to keep it upright. He has value.

Thompson should win, but Pamplona is no slouch. Goat has a tendency to stand when he shouldn't. He has some very impressive wins (Alvarez, Neer) but also soe bad losses. He has 50 fights. I think Goat will win a top control special. But Pamplona could totally KO him.

The otehr fights are blowouts, and rightfully so.

    Re: Shine Fights 3

Good luck on everything but Hawn. If he tries to follow Braulio to the ground, though to finish him off, he will regret it. Braulio has a style that you can't ground and pound him either, he is a master of controlling posture and then modifying his subs to get them while the guy is broken down. Hawn will have to do all the work on his feet.

If he is smart, he can win. But if he tries to prove something by grappling, he will regret it. Braulio is good everywhere, but his guard is just wrong.
