The medical issues that could have possibly put Steve Cantwell out of the sport permanently have been resolved and he has been cleared to return to action.
The news comes courtesy of Cantwell's management team at KO Reps, who told MMAWeekly.com on Thursday that he has been approved by the commission to return to fighting, but declined to comment on the medical condition that kept him out of action.
A former WEC light heavyweight champion, Cantwell was set to face Vladimir Matyushenko on Jan 2, but a last minute problem with his medical clearance forced him off the card, and following the show UFC president Dana White stated that the issue could be career ending.
Always optimistic, Cantwell was always confident he'd be able to return and now it appears that he will be able to fight again very soon.
According to his management team, Cantwell is simple excited to fight again and that will be his main focus after being able to put this all behind him.
There has been no information on when Cantwell will return to the UFC, but he is eligible to fight at any time now.
