Pi is insane. In my opinion it also sucks.

One documentary you should see if you haven't--though I think maybe you said you had--is Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room.

I wouldn't really put it into the "inspiration" category, though.

    Gay Experience of the Day:

So I have two computers--my main desktop, which I built, and a netbook--and my desktop has been having serious problems lately. It has a tendency to just shut off for no reason at all, especially while streaming video. Sometimes it would do a physical memory dump, and I checked the event viewer and also found memory references, so I ran a memory check. During the memory check--which runs outside of Windows--the machine shut down again, so I figured there was a memory problem and ordered 4 GB of DDR2 RAM.

It did not fix the issue, though. So I got sick of the shit and decided I would just replace everything that could possibly be the problem. I ordered a new motherboard, new CPU, and new power supply, on top of the RAM I had just bought.

Everything comes in and I spend an hour or whatever installing everything and . . . gayness coming in 3 2 1 . . . the new motherboard only supports DDR3 RAM. So not only is my computer a paperweight for at least a few days, the RAM I just bought is now worthless to me ($50 down the drain) and I had to order new RAM to get the motherfucker back up and running ($70 after 2-day shipping and rush processing).

The whole situation gets my Seal of Disapproval.

Any time I have had a computer expert build me a computer it works like shit and needs constant maintenance. I am a big fan of getting it out of the box and plugging it in.

Maybe you're going to the wrong guys.

I prefer to put my own shit together. That way I can control exactly what goes into it and sometimes save some money in the process. Also, custom built machines are a hell of a lot easier to upgrade than proprietary shit from HP or Dell.

Not conclusively. It's probably either the power supply or motherboard.

I had a desktop that use to shut off for no reason and it ended up being the power supply that was causing it

That could very well be it. If it is, then I have a perfectly good motherboard and Athlon X2 3.0 GHz processor that could be used for something.

    True that.

Building a computer is retardedly easy. Just need a screwdriver and a bit of research. My computer I built is going on 6 years old and still runs pretty fast. Clean reformats ftw.

And yeah, X, whenever it starts shutting off for no reason always check the PSU.

Clean reformats indeed. I do that shit every couple of years just as a matter of policy.

Yeah, that was going to be the next thing I replaced, but I figured fuck it, I have a little money so might as well go for the total upgrade.

    When it's done I'll have gone from an Athlon X2 dual-core 3 GHz w/ 2 GB of RAM to a Phenom X4 quad-core 3.2 GHz w/ 4 GB of RAM.
