^^ Coast insider, that's serious business. Is that free? I am sitting at my desk all day 4 days a week. I listen to music, sometimes watch movies in the background, and jump on and off of IWS all day. I need something else to listen to.

$6.99 a month. If you use it, it's worth it.

If you want to check out a similar-but-free show that has years worth of archives available, then check out The Paracast (www.theparacast.com).

EDIT: The Paracast is almost all UFOs by the way, so Coast is better for its variety.

I just love the whole vibe of coast to coast. When I first discovered it, i was probably 20... and it was on a fuzzy AM station. It seemed like it was some lunatic broadcasting from his garage unveiling the gov't secrets. I haven't listened to it in several years though. I will check that paracast thing out. In truth, I don't have an endless appetite for this stuff, I mostly just get amused by the crazies. So I can't justify paying for it, because I will grow tired of it in probably 2 or 3 weeks.

I have been meaning to ask you, did you ever go back to work? Or are you still living on the edge?

The Paracast is a different type of show, mostly in that the hosts are more willing to call their guests on their bullshit and they are of a bit more scientific bent. Also, there are no callers. It's two hosts and a guest.

As for Coast, I could probably send you some shit.

Never went back to work. Still writing for UMMA and the occasional other publication, and like I told you the other day I have my own JA account now. So that's what's getting me by. I'd like to have 4 sources of income, all operating at the same time, that each bring in $1000 a month or so.

I also wouldn't mind having a little part-time, 10-hour-per-week kind of job just cuz though . . . like something at the mall that's no stress, a little extra cash, and the opportunity to socialize just a bit (I do very little of that right now).

The callers are my favorite part of Coast to Coast. I can probably find some stuff online... it has been so long since I listened to it, it is all new shows to me. Speaking of new shows, I started watching "Weeds" last night. That show is pretty good, though I have only seen the first few episodes.

I have been taking time off from JA, I need to find someone to do the work for me.

Good for you, sticking it to the man. I was just curious, because you hadn't said anything and it has been a while now.

You see, that's like my LEAST favorite part and also the part that I usually skip.

In fact, I have started avoiding downloading the shows that deal with obvious woo-woo shit in favor of the shows where I feel like the guests are going to be credible and offer me some real information to consider.

I am aware that a lot of people like Weeds but I tried to watch it and just couldn't get into it. I did hear that Mark-Paul Gossalar made an appearance on an episode, though.

    Zak Morris in the house.

Before I had my own account I wasn't overly concerned about putting 100% into it because I knew the shit wasn't mine and could disappear at any minute. Now I'm more motivated to really build it into something.

It's definitely been a life-saver, though. Without it I wouldn't have made it on my own because I don't make enough from writing to survive on.

It is pure entertainment for me, I don't actually think there is any real information there to be considered. I like it for the lulz and it is fun to think about some of the stuff, but as far as actually considering it... I don't do that.

Well, I just started it. It may be slightly more interesting to me because I actually live in the suburbs. BUt I am going to wait until the season is over to give an official recommendation.

That is why I DON't spend more time on it... the account or site itself could disappear at any time. It is just straight time for money, there is no building it into anything. You answer, you get paid. That's it.

That's true. I keep it around because I might need it someday. Even if I lost all income, lost my practice, and couldn't find a job, I could surivive pretty well just on JA. There is definitely some peace of mind there.

Have you considered selling papaya tea?

I actually took a big hit myself trying to take over the world. I spent a bunch of money and I am now at the mercy of another attorney. Basically, with great reward comes great risk. I will get em next time.

Well a lot of the shows don't even deal with paranormal topics. They have straight science shows with well-known scientists like Brian Greene, Michio Kaku and Neil de Grasse Tyson, as well shows about other random shit like the economy, the weather, political shit, etc.

With that said, I do think there's a difference between the bullshit paranormal shows and the serious ones. For instance, they had Leslie Kean on the other day. Leslie Kean is an award-winning journalist who has been published in a number of leading publications, and she recently wrote a book called UFOs: On the Record where she interviewed military personnel, police officers, government officials, and other such people regarding their experiences with UFOs and it's some pretty interesting--I would even say explosive--material.

Of course, if you go into it with your mind made up that anything on the UFO topic cannot be taken seriously then it doesn't really matter what the evidence is.

Well that's the way it is with any job, as we've discussed before. That's how I look at it: I could get fired or the company could go under. But those are "normal" concerns. When I was working off someone else's account there were abnormal concerns like me getting into an argument with my friend and him telling me to fuck off or my friend dying (a very real possibility since the docs have given him less than a year to live).

But now I feel more confident that I can rely on it to really be there a year down the road, at least as confident as I would about still having a job with a company a year down the road. So I feel more compelled to build it up in the sense of expanding my skill set so that I can handle questions I don't normally handle, get certified for different categories so that I can have access to more questions, etc.

With JA, yeah, I don't consider it less "secure" than a normal job. Probably more secure because you have to do some pretty crazy shit to get kicked off as an expert. The only real possibility of losing your job is if teh site goes under. I guess my beef is with any job... I am only motivated to work if I can own the company, I don't like working for others.

As for my set back, I told you I merged with another firm here. I was supposed to be expanding the empire by opening a second office (and more), but it didn't really take off in the second market. So, I spent a bunch of money on advertising and we basically decided to pull the plug on it. Meanwhile, I agreed to a non-compete (as did the other attorneys) but I am working for a set salary right now. They do a allow me to do some other areas of practice, so I can earn income outside the office, but I am not allowed to do disability work. So they pay me a salary and I get to do my own thing too, so my income is actually about the same as it was before, but more regular, which is nice. But I also spent $30k on ads and shut down my practice, which was doing really well. I sold out so I could get more capital to take over the world... but that failed pretty much, and I can't go back to my practice because I need that disability income, it is more than 50% of my income.

Bascially, I sold out for no reason.

The upside is that I have a lot more time on my hands now. I am trying to figure out a new path to global dominance now. I have been kicking around some non-law related businesses.

It is all par for the course, I fail all the time. Abraham Lincoln tried to get elected to public office 27 times, he failed 25 times. It only takes one hit.

I am working right now... my work is not so much "work". I spend most of the day in court abouy once per week. I was there all day yesterday, I left at 5am and got back at about 2p. I meet with clients about 2 hours per day most days. I work. I am just in front of my PC all day, so I can pop in and out, it probably seems like I am always here... I do keep several windows open all the time, so I pretty much here all the time. But I work. Just nothing that I can't stop for a few minutes here and there. I actually have a really poor attention span, I can only focus for a few minutes at a time. Then I do something else, then I sprint for a few minutes. That said, it works for me, I can get a lot done in a pretty short amount of time.

It happened pver a few months. We tried it for a few months, it didn't work, we stopped. I don't want to make it sound that tragic, I lost some money advertising and now I am locked into a partnership... that's it. I didn't lose my income or anything. I knew there was a risk that it would not pan out... I will try it again in a different market here in a few months. No biggie, it could be a lot worse.

agreed. The only issue is finding a book that won't get shit down for working with U.S. customers. Even if I am in Costa Rica, my money will still get lost when the U.S. Govt shuts down a book.
