The guy that couldnt sub Guillard despite grappling with him for a good amount of time? yea i wouldnt label torres a guy with good bjj. Seems like he is more of a top oriented bjj player anyway.

Torres has a lot of sub wins and has never been subbed himself. He's pretty solid.

If you are unable to sub guillard you should not be a blackbelt. Most of Torres' wins or actually all of them are in fights from brazil. Im sure the comp is questionable at best.

So Brazilian jiu-jitsu finishes are less relevant in Brazil?

If thats where all your subs come from and the majority of those guys dont have a wikipedia page, then yea they arent really relevant.

I'm just saying that Volkmann has shown us plenty in the way of grappling (and I use grappling in the proper sense, that is, referring also to wrestling as well as the ability to pull of subs). He's beaten plenty of guys with really solid skills, including Torres, McKee, Castillo and Escudero. Just because he fucked around and got subbed doesn't mean he's "overrated" unless YOU built him up as some sort of grappling god in your mind.

It's not like we didn't know he could be subbed; we learned that in his fight against Kampmann.

Volkmann has good grappling. He just got subbed by a guy really good at subs.

I think hes a good wrestler and all, just will lost to good guys off their back. Their arent many in the division though so he should be fine. Sass, Soto, Bocek, Diaz. Even guys like cole miller, rda, cerrone, pettis would all probably sub him.

I think that would be an interesting fight. I would favor Bocek, but I would not be shocked if Volkmann took it.

I think volkmann is a good grappler. Sass is just a freak, it is har fd to prepare for freaks. Sass is only a blue belt fwiw... his all aroung game may not be as dazzling, but he sure as hell knows how to grab a sub. I think he trains lutre livre too, which is something like brazilian catch wrestling

I'm not surprised CB / Miller was a big loss for the book. I am surprised Elkins / Brandao wasn't the same.

I wonder how much action a book like 5d or Bookmaker gets for MMA.
