It would give Silva no advantage to have vaseline. He would want it on his legs to slip out of a single leg, that's it. But then, if it was on his legs, it would also make it harder for him to lock in a triangle. Typically, the guy on bottom throwing submissions is not going to want to grease. It is the guy hoping to slip oout of submissions that would want to grease.

You grab your hands, but the success of the bodylock is largely dependent upon you getting a good friction-based grip on your opponent's skin. If your arms are all slipping up and down their torso then you're not going to be able to toss them.

I don't think it would help that much. There is a reason when you hear of greasing, it is pretty much universally the guy who expects to be on top that does it. GSP, Monson... I have never heard of a guy greasing to gain an advantage in executing submissions. As for the body lock... I guess it may help some, but I really don't think it would help that much. I can't say for sure, because I have never bear hugged someone who was greased (because of the singlet, it would be pointless). I did wrestle a few guys that greased their legs though. It is slippery, but it is not any worse than the 3rd period slipperyness that happens naturally via sweat.

You can see plain as day that the knee landed on the chest. If there was any contact with the head, it was incidental. It didn't have an impact on the fight.
