Full prop odds out
Is there a prop anywhere on "Marquardt/Woodley will be a shitty fight"?
Triple-six killers in this motherfucker runnin shit
Yeah, Marquardt looked awesome last night. I was real impressed. Woodley showed some great improvements as well. The thing is....who at 170 in SF can he fight for his first title defense? The problem is that there are such limited contenders, as well as lack of SF shows. I am guessing we will see Nate vs Tarec/Bowling in 2013 or late 2012
It's like we were talking about, there were questions surrounding this fight regarding Marquardt. How would the weight cut affect him, i.e. would he gas or lose too much strength dropping down? And how would the layoff affect him?
I guess those questions were answered. They didn't have much affect. It looks like the drop was a good move.
As for competition, at least the situation at WW isn't as bad as at MW. There Saff and Bowling, like you mentioned. And Jordan Mein can maybe string a few wins together and get a shot. Hopefully that will be enough to keep Marq occupied until he gets called back to the UFC.

Anyone else notice last night that Marq didn't even seem to give a shit about the fact that he had won a belt? I don't even think he mentioned it in the post-fight interview.

The best fight I can think of is Marquardt vs. Rockhold.
Smaller organizations always provide a good example of how having too many weight-classes is a problem. The current weight-class system is basically designed for an organization with the UFC's depth.
I don't think Marq will want to move back up to 185 after working to get to WW and Rockhold definitely can't make WW.
I guess they could do a catchweight, but I'm not sure why they would.
As for not having any depth to the divisions, I don't get why they don't just bring more fighters in. Make it about quantity if it can't be all about quality. Plunder the smaller orgs for all of their very best guys.

high, saffedien and mein are close to a shot. Only losses are to lay n pray woodley.
I think they should. The cats out of the bag: SF is not on the same level as the UFC. Just let it be a AAA kind of thing and be happy with that. I actually don't think it's particularly important that they have top-notch talent. I think what's important is that they have ENOUGH talent and that they have guys who can put on good, entertaining fights.
It will probably be a situation where the very top dudes are UFC calibur. The rest are not. Kind of like the WEC before they got rid of all their weight classes above LW.
