Love those commercials. JCVD 4 Life.

He needs to put some more mass on, though.

The UFC released four fighters from its roster yesterday: Mizuto Hirota (0-2 UFC), John Albert (1-4 UFC), Ben Alloway (1-2 UFC) and Azamat Gashimov (0-2 UFC). With a combined record of 2-10, it’s not difficult to see why these four fighters were released from the big time, although I expect all four to find work in lower-level shows.

Too bad we can't know these guys are going to perform that way in advance so we can fade them and get rich.

Crazy. I assume a few of them must work the same table at the same time in order to get an advantage. Otherwise I can't see the justification in kicking someone out because they are good at blackjack. That's bullshit.

It happens all the time. Just read a couple of blackjack books to see how much emphasis is placed on "heat" and how necessary it is camouflage the fact that you're counting. The higher the stakes you play and the stronger reaction you get, too. One guy in the doc says he's been kicked out over a hundred times.

The fact of the matter is that casinos don't like losing money--ever--and will go to great lengths to make sure the advantage is always on their side. Unfortunately, in everywhere but Atlantic City it's perfectly legal for a casino to "back you off" because it's private property and it's within their rights to ask you to leave. In some cases, they'll even "back room" you where they take your picture and formally read you the trespass act, after which if you come onto the property they can have you arrested. (In Atlantic City, casinos can't kick you out for card counting but they can do a lot of other stuff that makes it essentially impossible for you to make money, like restrict you to flat betting or shuffle the deck on you every time you raise your bet.)

Blackjack is really a fascinating subject. You should watch that doc when you get a few minutes. Also watch this one (about the team the movie 21 was based on):

That makes me never want to gamble in a casino again. It's so chickenshit to kick people out if they are good. Lame, lame.

Yeah, no shit. But they'll do it. If you actually know what you're doing, it's a real cat and mouse game. Some card counters get off on the whole cloak and dagger aspect of it and just consider it part of the fun. But it's true that casinos are definitely not good sports when someone figures out how to win.

The best revenge is getting good enough to take their money on a regular basis and then doing it.

John albert was pretty entertaining. Too bad for gashimov. He had to fight menjivar and lineker for his first fights.

Yeah, John Albert was the guy who was good for half of the first round and then gassed out afterwards.

    Apparently there's a dude who's $30K away from $10,000,000 in lifetime online tournament poker winnings. . .

Apparently sports betting is not legal in Atlantic City and some bullshit from 1992 called the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act is a barrier to making it legal pretty much anywhere except for Nevada (and two other unnamed states). I was unaware.
