    Joe Riggs Shoot himself?

    k

Newly signed UFC welterweight Joe Riggs was involved in a firearm-related accident in his home on Monday, according to UFC officials.

Joe Riggs was hospitalized after a firearm-related accident in his home on Monday.
Riggs, 31, was reportedly cleaning a pistol when it accidentally went off. He has been hospitalized for injuries to his hand and thigh, the UFC said in a statement.

"We were made aware that newly-signed UFC competitor Joe Riggs was involved in an unfortunate accident last night," the UFC said. "While cleaning his permitted firearm, the gun discharged, injuring his hand and upper thigh. Riggs was transported to a nearby hospital in Arizona where is being treated by physicians. We wish Joe a speedy recovery."

Last week, Riggs (40-14) re-signed with the UFC and was scheduled to fight Paulo Thiago at a UFC Fight Night event Sept. 13 in Brasilia, Brazil. Riggs has been removed from the fight and the UFC is searching for a replacement.

Fighting out of Phoenix, Riggs has not fought in the UFC since 2006. He fought for multiple organizations in his time outside the UFC, including Strikeforce and Bellator MMA.

In November, Riggs won the Bellator MMA reality series "Fight Master," culminating in a unanimous decision against Mike Bronzoulis. He is currently on a six-fight win streak.

I'm not a genius, but wouldn't unloading a gun before cleaning it be smart?

My thoughts exactly. If there are still pieces of the bullet in him, its obvious he never went to the hospital . Moron

I wouldnt be suprised if he didnt even have medical insurance, but You gotta go to the ER on some shit like that. Throw the bill in the trash when it come in, hes probably broke and has shitty credit anyway. At least his leg would be healing correctly.

You're probably right (no insurance), but you have to go. I have no idea how that big gash is ever going to close without being stitched.
