Dave Essler, NL Game of The Month

    911 COL 1.5 (-145) Greek vs 912 LOS
Analysis: You can quite easily split this with the ML or play -1, or just do what I did. There are always options - In 2016 the Dodgers won the NL West going away, and in fact won 96 games. Over the course of the entire season the played 49 games against left handed starters, finishing with a record of 22-27. That pales in comparison to the 74-50 record against right handed starters. Looking even further, as a team against any LHP (starter or reliever) the hit .213. Turn things around and they had the fourth BEST batting average against right handed pitching.

This season they've already faced more left handed starters than any team in baseball and are hitting .225. History does repeat itself, and we need to look no further than this season's W/L record against lefties - two wins and four losses. Make that five after losing to Ray last night.

Since the Dodgers are a very public team, we can almost always get a great price on them, and and even better value when they face lefties. And when is the next time they'll face a lefty, you ask. Well, tonight against the Rockies. The Rockies who are also starting to hit. Los Doyas will start Ryu, someone that has already beaten the Rockies this season - and we LOVE to go the other way in rematches, especially when they're this recent.

They've posted a total of 8 runs which is juiced closer to 7.5, and the ML opened as the Dodgers at roughly -165, and this morning is more. The RL is ALWAYS correlated to the total so if we're betting the Rockies +1.5 we're getting 18% of the expected games' runs before the first pitch. That's awful hard to pass up, especially with the Rockies having Monday off while the Dodgers did not.

Yes, it's Kyle Freeland pitching for the Rockies in his third major league start. But, he's thrown his first two games in Coors Field, which has to be difficult. Plus, it almost wouldn't matter who or where he threw, he's left handed. We're taking the Rockies tonight and that's something to keep in mind all season long - fade the Dodgers against lefties.

    double-dime bet
529 UTA / 530 LAC UNDER 199.0 SouthpointAnalysis: Let's take a comment from the write-up of the previous UNDER we had in this series for now:

"We have the 17th and 30th (DEAD LAST = JAZZ) Paced teams in the NBA playing in this one a‡nd the #4 (JAZZ) and #13 best Defensive Efficiency Teams in the League. I can promise you that Utah is not going to win this one out scoring the Clips. And I can promise you they know that."

Nothing has changed from that previous contest and in that game we saw lower than normal pace and about average shooting percentages, the Clips actually hitting on 48% from the court. So the Odds makers have adjusted this open number down to 196.5 and Bettors are driving it upward in early betting and again today. They have not adjusted ENOUGH according to what we have and we have waited to get the best number that we can get. I am not sure that we have accomplished that but at some point we do have to release this play with Clients having Ants in their Pants. Our Models agree with our summation here. It's just that simple. You might can wait to get a better number as the upward movement seems to have no end but right now we have 198.5's and 199's available to bet and we will get ours now. However this play is good all the way down to the original open and even a bit further..

4 Unit Play. Take #914 New York Yankees -1.5 +105 over Chicago White Sox (7:05 PM, Tuesday, April 18)

The New York Yankees will look to extend their win streak to nine games when they take on the Chicago White Sox at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, NY on Tuesday night. Luis Severino (1-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) will get the start for the Yankees and he will be opposed by Miguel Gonzalez (1-0, 4.22 ERA, 1.97 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the White Sox. New York has posted a perfect 7-0 record in their last seven home games where they faced a team with a winning record and they have gone an excellent 21-8 in their last 29 games following a win going back to the end of the 2016 season. The White Sox, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 4-10 in their last fourteen games where they faced a starter with a WHIP of 1.15 or less and they have lost six of Gonzalez's last eight starts on the road. Throw in the fact that the Yankees have gone a lights out 14-5 in the last nineteen head to head meetings between the two teams and we'll lay the 1.5 runs with them here in a game that we have them winning pretty easily in New York on Tuesday night.

4 Unit Play. Take #917 Detroit Tigers -105 over Tampa Bay Rays (7:10 PM, Tuesday, April 18)

The Detroit Tigers will look for their third win in their last four games when they hit the road to take on the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in St Petersburg, FL on Tuesday night. Michael Fulmer (1-0, 2.25 ERA, 0.92 WHIP) will get the start for the Tigers and he will be opposed by Matt Andriese (0-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.60 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Rays. Detroit has posted a 7-1 record in their last eight games following an off day and they have gone an excellent 8-1 in Fulmer's last nine starts versus a team from the AL East. The Rays, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 1-4 in their last five games following a loss and they are an awful 1-6 in their last seven games overall. Throw in the fact that the Tigers are a perfect 6-0 in the last six head to head meetings between the two teams and we'll take them at the pickem or so price to get the road win in St Pete on Tuesday night.

4 Unit Play. Take #921 Cleveland Indians -115 over Minnesota Twins (8:05 PM, Tuesday, April 18)

The Cleveland Indians will look for their third win in their last four games when they take on the Twins at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN on Tuesday night. Josh Tomlin (0-2, 18.47 ERA, 2.68 WHIP) will get the start for the Indians and he will be opposed by Phil Hughes (2-0, 3.86 ERA, 1.11 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Twins. The Indians have posted a 10-3 record in their last thirteen road games where they faced a right-handed starter and they have gone an excellent 17-5 in Tomlin's last 22 starts when facing an AL Central Division rival. The Twins, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have lost 22 of their last 32 home games going back to the end of the 2016 season and they are an awful 16-39 in their last 55 when facing a right-handed starter. Throw in the fact that Cleveland has gone 7-1 in the last eight head to head meetings between the two teams and we'll take them at the pickem or so price to get the road win in Minnesota on Tuesday night.

These are all your MLB Plays for today. Your next MLB update will be Wednesday, April 19, 2017.

    MLB BASEBALL PLAYS

4 Unit Play. Take #908 St. Louis -130 over Pittsburgh (8:10p.m., Tuesday April 18)
I know the St. Louis Cardinals are struggling but last night the Cards took Game #1 of this 3-game series against the Pirates 2-1 and tonight I see the Red Birds grabbing another win. I believe tonight the Cardinals have the better pitcher on the mound with Mike Leake and his two starts this season he is 1-1, 0.73 WHIP, and 0.60 ERA. Leake has pitched well against the Pittsburgh Pirates, going 4-2 with a 3.51 ERA in 13 starts and tonight I see him out-pitching Pirates starter Chad Kuhl. The Pirates are 1-7 in their last 8 games when they score 2 runs or less in their last game and the Pirates are 0-5 in their last 5 starts in St. Louis. The Cardinals have won 4-straight games against Pittsburgh and starting pitching will be key tonight in Busch Stadium.

    Allen Eastman baseball

ALLEN EASTMAN has been the No. 1 NBA handicapper in the country this year, banking an unbelievable +$12,300 in profit! Eastman won again Monday and has hit three straight picks, gone 8-2 with his last 10 plays, and is an eye-popping 25-6 (81%) for +$6,000 in profit. Eastman is going with a 5-Unit NBA First Half Play (8 p.m.) and he is an exceptional 109-69 for +$13,200 over the last five months. Eastman has gone 13-4 (76%) on his last 17 NBA picks rated 5.0 or higher and you can get this one by clicking BUY NOW below.

    3-Unit Play. Take #922 Minnesota (+110) over Cleveland (8 p.m., Tuesday, April 18)

I like the value on the home underdog here. Cleveland has been overpriced early in the season. They are just 3-7 in their last 10 games. And after winning the first game in this series last night behind Danny Salazar I think they are going to fall back today. Josh Tomlin is on the mound for the Indians and he has been terrible in both of his starts. He allowed six runs in five innings in Arizona and then allowed seven runs in two innings against the White Sox. Going back to last year Tomlin has allowed 19 runs in his last eight innings of work. Phil Hughes has won both of his starts this season and is 4-0 in his last four outings. Take the Twins.

    2-Unit Play. Take #917 Detroit (+105) over Tampa Bay (7 p.m., Tuesday, April 18)

The Tigers have dominated the Rays. They have won six straight in this series and are 8-2 in their last 10 against them. They have won their last five games down in Tampa Bay. Last year's rookie of the year, Michael Fulmer, is on the mound for the Tigers today. Detroit is 10-4 in his last 14 road starts and is 20-6 in his last 26 starts overall. Fulmer is 5-0 when he gets extra rest and 6-1 against a team with a losing record. Tampa Bay is going with Andriese and he has lost five of his last seven home starts and is just 4-10 in his last 14 starts overall. The wrong team is favored in this game and I will take advantage.

    1-Unit Play. Take #907 Pittsburgh (+120) over St. Louis (8 p.m., Tuesday, April 18)

    The Pirates

    7-Unit Play. Take #909 Arizona (-120) over San Diego (10 p.m., Tuesday, April 18)

I think that Arizona is going to dominate here. The Padres just had to play a grinding four-game series in Atlanta over the weekend, including a fourth game last night in a getaway spot. The Padres blew that game and it had to have been a long ride home. Arizona was able to hang out on the West Coast and had much shorter travel to get to this game. They also have the vastly superior pitcher on the mound. I know Shelby Miller has just been OK so far, giving up three runs in just over five innings in both of his starts. But I still think Miller is going to have a bounce back season. The Padres are going with Jared Cosart, who is a Triple-A pitcher pretending to be an MLB starter. He has a 5.15 ERA over the last three years and has made all of 27 starts during that time. Again, he's not good. This is a bad situational spot for the Padres. And they are at a disadvantage on the mound and with their lineup. San Diego is feeling low after a four-game sweep, they burned through a lot of their bullpen (which spent the weekend blowing leads), and they are now just back home after an odd week-long trip that had them in Colorado and Atlanta. It's just a bad spot. I'll go with the vastly superior squad and Arizona should pound them here.

    2-Unit Play. Take #915 Boston (+155) over Toronto (7 p.m., Tuesday, April 18)

There is just no way that Toronto should be this heavy of a favorite right now. In his prime Roy Halladay could be on the mound today. But with that pathetic lineup backing him - or in this case Marcus Stroman - the Jays still shouldn't be this strong of a favorite. This one is strictly a value play.

    2-Unit Play. Take #917 Detroit (+110) over Tampa Bay (7 p.m., Tuesday, April 18)

Huge line movement in this game is the only thing that is keeping this from being a much bigger play. Michael Fulmer is a beast, and the Tigers are 20-6 in his last 26 starts and 8-1 when he faces teams from the A.L. East. Detroit has looked very motivated coming out of the gate and I think they will continue that here. Matt Andriese is just 4-10 in his last 14 starts and doesn't have the same stuff as Fulmer. I'll play the value here.

    2-Unit Play. Take #920 Houston (-150) over L.A. Angels (8 p.m., Tuesday, April 18)

Let's go to the well here with the Astros. They've won five straight, the Angels have lost six straight, and there is nothing about Ricky Nolasco that scares me. Granted, I'm not thrilled about Joe Musgrove. But he has the hotter team backing him. Houston is 14-5 in the last 19 meetings with the Angels and they are 17-6 at home against the Halos.

    2-Unit Play. Take #925 Baltimore (-140) over Cincinnati (7 p.m., Tuesday, April 18)

Let's just keep rolling with Baltimore. And keep betting against the pathetic Reds. They are rolling out Bronson Arroyo again today and this guy is beat. He didn't start a single game in 2015 or 2016 and he has been trash so far in 2017, allowing 11 runs in 10 innings while striking out just five. His junk isn't fooling anyone anymore.

    1-Unit Play. Take #929 Miami (-105) over Seattle (10 p.m., Tuesday, April 18)

Seattle cruised to an easy win last night. But I think that Miami is going to bounce back here. The Marlins are facing Felix Hernandez tomorrow so they know they better get this win tonight. Wei Chen got rocked his last time out, but that was mainly because he faced the same Mets lineup twice within a week. I think he will bounce back.

    Today's Totals

2-Unit Play. Take 'Under' 9.5 Milwaukee at Chicago Cubs (8 p.m., Tuesday, April 18)

1-Unit Play. Take 'Over' 9.0 Baltimore at Cincinnati (7 p.m., Tuesday, April 18)

    Carpe diem. Good luck.
