Johnny Cueto has been scratched from his scheduled start Thursday against the Tigers due to an inner ear infection.
20 minutes before he was set to take the mound at Detroit's Comerica Park. Chris Stratton will pitch in Cueto's place in the afternoon series finale.

7 Unit Play. Take #961 Houston Astros -155 over Toronto Blue Jays (7:05 PM, Thursday, July 6)

The Houston Astros will look for their seventh win in their last eight games when they hit the road to take on the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, ON on Friday night. Lance McCullers (7-1, 2.69 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) will get the start for the Astros and he will be opposed by Francisco Liriano (4-4, 5.66 ERA, 1.61 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Blue Jays. Houston has posted a 5-1 record in their last six games where they faced a left-handed starter and they have gone an excellent 16-6 in their last 22 games versus a team from the AL East. They have also won 22 of their last 29 road games where they played a team with a losing record at home and they are a lights out 40-14 in their last 54 road games overall going back to the end of the 2016 season. The Blue Jays, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 2-5 in their last seven home games where they faced a team with a road winning % of .600 or higher and they are just 1-4 in their last five games following a win. They also have that same 1-4 record in their last five home games where they faced a right-handed starter and they have lost four of Liriano's last five starts versus a team from the AL West. Throw in the fact that the Astros are 10-1 in McCullers last eleven starts when facing a team with a winning % of .500 or lower and we'll lay the price with them here in a game that we have them winning pretty easily in Toronto on Thursday evening.

These are all your MLB plays for today. Your next MLB update will be Friday, July 7, 2017.

    PLAY: ATLANTA BRAVES Run-Line
    RATING: TRIPLE DIME PLAY

I also like the over here - but this is a total fade of Gio and the Nationals' bullpen. Gonzalez has thrown 113 pitches in each of his last two starts, and if this were Kershaw or someone who does that with any regularity, I'd be fine with it. Add to the fact that as I've said for some time, when a good pitcher gets hit it's but a familiar foe. Obviously the Braves have seen plenty of him, and honestly they've hit him hard on plenty of occasions. Of course Freeman is in the lineup, so there's plenty more protection for Kemp, et al. Washington's pen over the last week sports a 8.82 ERA with a 1.77 WHIP, which without looking is probably the worst in baseball. This is even more of a factor with Gio perhaps being a bit tired. Foltynewicz threw a lot of pitches at Oakland, otherwise this would be even bigger, but he owes Washington one from one of his worst outing this season. However, only twice in his last ten starts has he given up more than three earned runs. Washington has the NL East all but wrapped up, but the Braves are only two games below .500, and get Freeman back, so they at least think they can make the playoffs, and that's all we need for now. The point - Washington is going to have their off days while for the time being I expect max effort out of Atlanta, who is a half-decent road team and 5-4 against LHP. That's all I got. For those on today only, I also played the Padres RL. I like Lamet a lot, and Tomlin is quite hittable.
