Post Where To Play: Grading Vegas' Best Sportsbooks

    The Mirage

    View/Screens: A-

The screens at The Mirage are huge, clear, and flexible. Like many of the newest sportsbook displays, the HD images can be different sizes based on the number of games on. The only thing missing is that the screens aren’t quite as bright and crisp as some of the newer sportsbook renovations.

    Odds/Lines: B

MGM Resorts International casinos all share the same lines, odds, and pointspreads. These casinos also share a similar customer. Not all tourists are the sharpest sports bettors and the odds generally show that. Look for games with popular, major market, and United States based teams to offer lesser odds than some other sportsbooks.

    Experience/Seating: A+

This is where The Mirage stands out. The massive sportsbook is located on the Vegas Strip and there’s almost always a buzz here. The sportsbook opens to the casino so there are often onlookers when the place gets hype. There is ample free seating as well as VIP stadium-style seating if you want to make sure you have a seat on a busy day.

    Food/Drink: A

There are a number of restaurants under 30 seconds away that have food to go. These restaurants include LVB Burgers, Carnegie Deli, Starbucks, and California Pizza Kitchen. The latter has seating that looks out to the sportsbook, so you can watch the games while people serve you food. This isn’t something you find in most sportsbooks.

    Mobile: A

The MGM Resorts International mobile sports wagering app probably has the best software of any app in Nevada. It’s easy to use and looks great. It only takes 10-15 minutes to open an account. The Mirage sportsbook is always busy and this is a must-have if you don’t want to stand around in lines for 20-30 minutes on Sundays.

    Westgate SuperBook

    View/Screens:
    A+

These are the among the newest sportsbook screens in Las Vegas. These massive screens have the highest resolution of any sportsbook in Las Vegas. The display is beyond good looking, it’s the world's largest indoor LED video wall at 240 feet wide and 20 feet tall.

    Odds/Lines: A+

The oddsmakers at the Westgate are among the best in Las Vegas. The sportsbook takes large wagers that many others won’t touch. This combination allows the SuperBook to offer some of the sharpest and most fair lines, odds, and pointspreads in Las Vegas. Additionally, the SuperBook offers many wagering options you won’t find anywhere else.

    Experience/Seating: A-

The SuperBook was renovated last year and offers comfortable seating for 400 people. The space is massive and smoke-free with pool tables and more. This is a destination sportsbook if there was ever such a thing. Although the Westgate is close to the Vegas Strip, it’s not on the Vegas Strip. The majority of guests that visit the SuperBook are planning on being there. This is great but lacks the spontaneity that pops up at other sportsbooks.

    Food/Drink: B

There's a bar at the back of the SuperBook with video poker and a great view of the games. Behind the bar is a food court that offers pizza, burgers, sandwiches, tacos, and more. There are plenty of seats that look out to the sportsbook. Thanks to the big screens you shouldn’t have a problem seeing the games.

    Mobile: A-

This app uses miomni software which you’ll find used for many sportsbook apps. The feature that stands out most with this app is the ability to bet on games with SuperBook odds from anywhere in Nevada.

    Wynn

    View/Screens:
    A

The sportsbook received a full renovation in 2017 and has become a shining star on the Vegas Strip. The huge video wall is 137 feet wide by 11 feet high and offers nearly 180 degrees of viewing. The screens have 21 million pixels and are as bright and clear as you’ll find in Las Vegas. Additionally, more than 40 carrels have small standard definition TVs.

    Odds/Lines: A

Johnny Avello from Wynn is one of the most respected bookmakers in Las Vegas. Wynn is one of the few independently operated sportsbooks on the Vegas Strip and the lines, odds, and pointspreads offered are exclusive to this casino. They’re often the first casino in Las Vegas to release college football lines.

    Experience/Seating: A-

There are plenty of seats available in the sportsbook including VIP couches that can be reserved. Since the screens all point to a corner, you might have to move around a little more when there are games on all the screens.

    Food/Drink: B

There’s a video poker bar right behind the sportsbook that has 100 different types of beer available along with craft cocktails. Charlie's Bar and Grill is behind the bar but near the sportsbook. This gives you the closest location to the sportsbook to grab a bite. Quick serve dining at Wynn is minimal.

    Mobile: B

Wynn is open to taking large wagers in the casino. However, the app is geared towards recreational gamblers and have lower limits. The limits are much lower if you’re a high roller. The lines, odds, and spreads are the same as you’ll find in the casino.

    Cosmopolitan

    View/Screens:
    B+

The screens are new and sufficient for the small sportsbook on most days. However, the sportsbook is very small and there might not be enough TV screens for the busiest days when there are baseball, basketball, and hockey games on at the same time. If you’ve placed a wager at this CG Technology sportsbook, the game(s) you care about will probably be on.

    Odds/Lines: A

The sportsbook is currently operated by CG Technology. The lines, odds, and pointspreads are the same as all CG Technology sportsbooks (Venetian, Palazzo, M Resort, Hard Rock, Palms, Tropicana, Silverton). These are typically some of the fairest lines in Las Vegas.

    Experience/Seating: B-

The Cosmopolitan is one of the most popular casinos on the Vegas Strip with younger visitors. The sportsbook has a bar with video poker, blackjack, roulette, and complimentary bar games like billiards. It’s a great combination of a sports bar, casino, and sportsbook. Unfortunately, there’s only seating for about 50 people between the bar and seating area. You’ll have to guarantee a certain spend on food/drink to reserve seats on busy days (football, March Madness, etc.)

    Food/Drink: B-

There is cocktail waitress service for the bar area and sportsbook. You’ll pay typical Vegas Strip prices for drinks since there are few, if any, drink tickets available. The cocktail servers will deliver food ordered from The Henry on the other side of the casino. Quick-serve and to-go dining options are limited at the Cosmopolitan but there’s a Starbucks located behind the TV screens.

    Mobile: A

This is one of the easiest locations in Las Vegas to fund a CG Technology mobile sports betting account. The sportsbook is only about 100 steps away from the Vegas Strip. The CG Technology app comes in handy when there are major events like the Super Bowl and March Madness. The staff here is typically very fast so there aren’t long lines to wait on if you prefer a paper ticket.

    Red Rock

    View/Screens:
    A

Before the Westgate installed their new display, Red Rock Casino had the best screens in Las Vegas. There are three 17 foot by 31.5 foot screens that each have 4K Ultra HD technology. The picture is as clear and bright as you’ll find in Las Vegas. Each screen can each be configured more than 50 ways to display the games and lines, odds, and spreads. There are also individual TV screens at more than 200 seats.

    Odds/Lines: B

You’ll find the same lines, odds, and pointspreads at all Station Casinos properties except Palms which is still operated by CG Technology. The majority of customers at these casinos are local residents of Nevada. As you’d imagine, this mass pool of bettors doesn’t make for the sharpest group and you see that in the lines.

    Experience/Seating: B+

There’s seating for over 200 people which makes this one of the larger and louder sportsbooks off the Vegas Strip. The seating consists of regular chairs, bar stools, and lounge chairs. There are also about 50 chairs and tables in the sportsbook bar that offers a great view. There is a players club VIP section with booths in between the bar and the main sportsbook for higher tier members.

    Food/Drink: B

The Gridiron Grill is situated adjacent to the sportsbook and you can see games on two of the three screens. There’s also a food court about 50 steps away that features Fatburger, Capriotti’s, Rubio’s, Panda Express, Tropical Smoothie, Ben & Jerry’s, and Starbucks. Since many of the seats have tables, you can grab food to go and eat in the sportsbook.

    Mobile:
    B+

This is currently the only mobile sportsbook app that is tied in with the casino players club. Each wager made generates with the app generates players club points. This is one of the few apps that offers horse wagering in addition to sports.

    Caesars Palace

    View/Screens:
    A

The screens in the sportsbook were upgraded in 2016 and are bright and beautiful. There are six 12-foot by 15-foot screens, a 20-foot by 50-foot LED board and 12 50-inch plasma screens throughout the sportsbook. There are also 12-inch flat screens at each VIP table and a bar behind the sportsbook with its own array of screens.

    Odds/Lines: C

Caesars Entertainment might have the most mainstream customer of any casino operator in Las Vegas. The lines reflect wagers from some of the least sharp bettors from all around the world. You might find better opportunities to wager on future, moneyline and proposition bets elsewhere.

    Experience/Seating: C

There are over 140 plush seats in the sportsbook. The racebook has another 65 private booths. Additionally, there are VIP tables and couches connected to the bar. Unfortunately, the seats come with a price for most major events. Expect to pay at least $50 to reserve a seat for any football games, March Madness, etc.

    Food/Drink: B-

The sportsbook bar is average at best. The Forum Food Court is about a 30-second walk and offers an excellent variety from Smashburger, Earl of Sandwich, Phillip's Seafood, Starbucks, and more. It’s one of the best food courts in Las Vegas but is always busy so make sure you time your visits perfectly.

    Mobile: B

This is the newest sports betting app to hit the market. It uses miomni software and the same lines you'll find in all Caesars Entertainment sportsbooks. Since the sportsbook is so busy, the app might come in handy to avoid waiting in line.

    Rampart

    View/Screens:
    A

The small casino in Summerlin (about 20 minutes from the Vegas Strip) has a new 6,000-square foot sportsbook is located just off the main casino. The new sportsbook takes the place of an Irish Pub and features a 50-foot customizable LED screen and 80 HD televisions that include nine 60-inch monitors. New and large TVs always look good.

    Odds/Lines: A+

Odds, lines, and pointspreads at the Rampart are generated by the crew at the South Point. These are among the fairest sports betting odds you’ll find anywhere in Las Vegas. You’ll often find a few proposition bets here (and South Point) that aren’t available anywhere else.

    Experience/Seating: B

Rampart is a locals casino that has an older clientele. You won’t find a raucous crowd at this casino. There are more than 120 seats in the main sportsbook including 55 private carrels for race bettors. The sportsbook bar has a capacity of 50 with 10 video poker machines. This is a nice chill spot to watch the games.

    Food/Drink: C-

Dining at Rampart is limited. Your best bet for something to eat at the sportsbook is to grab a quick bite at the snack bar.

    Mobile: A-

The app works perfectly and has great lines, odds, and point spreads from the South Point. The only downside to this app is that you’ll have to travel away from the action to fund or withdraw funds from the Rampart or South Point.

    Golden Nugget

    View/Screens:
    B+

This is one of the largest sportsbooks in downtown Las Vegas with the most recently updated TV screens. There’s a video wall, multiple HDTVs, and 45 single screen carrels. The seating is set up so that you might have to search for the right seat to have the best sight line for the game(s) you want to watch.

    Odds/Lines: A

Lines, odds, and pointspreads are exclusive to the Golden Nugget. The bookmaking team at this independent sportsbook are considered some of the best in Las Vegas. Downtown sees a lot of visitors from particular areas in the country – such as Hawaii - and you may notice that some of the lines are different than other Las Vegas sportsbooks based on their specific team preferences.

    Experience/Seating: B+

The sportsbook is closed off from the casino. It’s dark and features dark wood to make it almost feel even darker. The seating is not traditional. There are different types of chairs and booths available for large parties. The small closed in space keeps the energy inside the room, which makes for a fun experience. You probably won’t find a better sportsbook atmosphere in downtown Las Vegas.

    Food/Drink: B

There’s a snack bar right next to the sportsbook but you’ll have to walk away from the games. Most of the restaurants at the Golden Nugget are traditional dine-in restaurants so there aren’t many options for a quick bite.

    Mobile: B

The app offers the great lines, odds, and pointspreads that you expect from the Golden Nugget. You can only fund and withdraw money from this app at the Golden Nugget.

    Mandalay Bay

    View/Screens:
    D

The good news: there are 17 large-screen TVs in this sportsbook including one 28-foot by 30-foot screen. The bad news: The projection TV screens appear to be older than the casino itself. The large sportsbook has plenty of access points and is always buzzing during the biggest events but the screens need an upgrade. The crowd here is one of the loudest and most fun in Las Vegas.

    Odds/Lines: B

MGM Resorts International casinos all share the same lines, odds, and pointspreads. These casinos also share a similar customer. Many tourists aren't the sharpest sports bettors and the odds generally show that. Look for odds for popular, major market, and United States based teams to offer lesser odds than some other sportsbooks.

    Experience/Seating: B

There is seating for 300 people in the sportsbook and sportsbook bar area. Seats are mostly made up of school or banquet style chairs. The sportsbook is flanked by a bar on one side and poker room on the other. The space acts like an echo chamber and the environment is welcoming to the large international customer base at the casino.

    Food/Drink: B-

The bar behind the sportsbook is lively and has video poker machines, tables, and bottle service. Mandalay Bay was one of the first sportsbooks in Las Vegas to offer bottle service and table reservations. The Turf Club Deli snack bar is located in the actual sportsbook and serves burgers and sandwiches.

    Mobile: B

The MGM Resorts International mobile sports wagering app probably has the best software of any app in Nevada. It’s easy to use and looks great. It only takes 10-15 minutes to open an account. The Mirage sportsbook is always busy and this is a must-have if you don’t want to stand around in lines for 20-30 minutes on Sundays.

    The Palazzo/Lagasse’s Stadium

    View/Screens:
    C-

Lagasse’s Stadium has a unique setup that you won’t find anywhere else. There’s one main projection screen with smaller projection screens to each side. There are HDTVs of various sizes located around the sportsbook/bar/restaurant for other sections to watch the games. The main viewing area is great but the outside areas can be a challenge to find the right game(s). Even though the screens are showing some age, there's still an energy here for major events that you won't find everywhere.

    Odds/Lines: A

The sportsbook is operated by CG Technology. The lines, odds, and pointspreads are the same as all CG Technology sports books (Cosmopolitan, Venetian, M Resort, Hard Rock, Palms, Tropicana, Silverton). These are typically some of the fairest lines in Las Vegas.

    Experience/Seating: B

The main stadium couch seating is the most comfortable that you’ll find in any sportsbook. Dining tables and chairs are next to the main area and great if you just want to eat and keep an eye on the games. There are couches with small TVs surrounding the main area that are best for standalone games and there’s even seating and TV’s outside. It’s a unique experience but it’s always crowded. You’ll have to make reservations and commit a minimum spend for major events.

    Food/Drink: B

This is a bar and restaurant from the famous chef, Emeril Lagasse. The food is better than you’ll find at any sportsbook in Las Vegas since this is a traditional sports bar and restaurant.

    Mobile: A-

The CG Technology sports wagering app is one of the most popular in Las Vegas because of the great odds, point spreads, and lines. Since Lagasse’s Stadium is often busy it’s a good idea to fund a mobile account in advance of the games to save time waiting in line.

I was here over the summer, hung out for a bit. The only thing I didnt like was its right next to the Omnia club, there was about a hundred millennials coming over to watch some of the screens while they were waiting for the club to open. They were so fuckin loud lol!
