    # 11 CHERIE DAMOUR 6/1

    # 9 FOR U MIKE 7/2

    # 8 DAWNING SKY 20/1

CHERIE DAMOUR figures to be the bet in here. FOR U MIKE - Ceccato is trying to score with this one by bringing her back so soon. Garnered a very good Equibase Speed Figure last time out. DAWNING SKY - Appears to be the type to be helped now going off Lasix here. She should have a strong performance versus this easier group.

    RECOMMENDED CHOICES
    The Walker Group Picks

    # 1 YONKA 4/1

    # 5 STEVIE THE CAT 9/5

    # 6 OUR HONEY BELLE 8/5

YONKA has a quite good shot to take this race. Is a solid choice - given the 70 speed rating from her most recent race. A solid 71 avg Equibase class figure may give this filly a distinct class edge versus this group. She has recorded strong numbers under today's conditions and ought to fare well versus this group of horses in this race. STEVIE THE CAT - Shows signs of the look of a lucrative play, averaging a solid 50 speed fig which is one of the most respectable in this field. Will most likely compete admirably in the pace battle which bodes well with this field. OUR HONEY BELLE - Love when any animal makes a quick turnaround. Posted a formidable speed rating last time out.

    Louisiana Downs - Race #5 - Post: 5:03pm - Maiden Special - 6.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $18,000 Class Rating: 70

    Rating: 4

    #8 OUR LUCKY BREAK (ML=6/1)
#2 GO SPREAD THE WORD (ML=7/2)

OUR LUCKY BREAK - She finished 2nd July 28th, but was well ahead of the show horse. We have lots of early speed with this mount. She could wire this field. This filly earned a strong speed fig of 70 in her last race. That speed figure should be strong enough to prove victorious this time around. Got to love a filly who outruns her odds in her initial bow. Filly did just that back on July 28th. GO SPREAD THE WORD - Jock hops back aboard after getting to know the race horse by riding last time out. That's always a good to see. Have to give this filly a good shot. Ran a strong effort in the last race within the last 30 days. In the last race on August 26th was a good tune-up for today. Got respectable betting action in that one, but finished third. Expect better right here. Lasix can take some getting used to, especially for a filly. They usually hit stride the 2nd time using it, like we have with this horse.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #6 MISS SPOT ON (ML=4/1), #7 R QUEENDOM (ML=9/2), #11 JACINTA (ML=5/1),

MISS SPOT ON - You think this horse is going to be first just because she's always close. Just doesn't finish first often. Hard to bet this one after not being near the front at 1 mile and now being situated in a race of 6 1/2 furlongs. R QUEENDOM - Would have to advance off that eighth place finish last time out of the box to make an impact here. Improbable that this entrant will be at her best this time out off the very long layoff. Maybe next time. JACINTA - This entrant hasn't had nary a single morning drill after running so well on Aug 25th.

    Thistledown - Race #2 - Post: 2:10pm - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $15,800 Class Rating: 82

    Rating: 4

    #4 PARK AVE (ML=7/2)
    #7 CLEVER CHAT (ML=6/1)

PARK AVE - The most dangerous animal in racing is the lone speed horse. If they let him get away early they probably won't catch him. CLEVER CHAT - This entrant ran out of the top three at Thistledown last time around the track on a sloppy track. He should improve right here under better track conditions. This horse brings in a lot of money per race. Utmost in this contest.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #2 SILVER BUCKEYE (ML=5/2), #3 DICKS DESIRE (ML=3/1), #6 GEPPETTO (ML=6/1),

SILVER BUCKEYE - Tough to like the downward flow (80/75/71) of speed ratings. DICKS DESIRE - This horse doesn't have a winning spirit. Time-and-again finishes in the place or show hole. Finished sixth last time out of the box. Would have to improve to hit the board today. The rating last time out doesn't fit very well in this event when I look at the class rating of today's contest. Mark this mount as a likely underlay. GEPPETTO - Thistledown isn't nice digs to this runner. Will probably be left with much too much to do down the stretch.

    STRAIGHT WAGERS:
#4 PARK AVE to win at post-time odds of 3/2 or better

    Brewers vs. Pirates
    Brewers-119

The Milwaukee Brewers have won eight of their last 10 games following a 3-0 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday night. They're fighting ferociously on their mission to track down the Rockies for the 2nd Wild Card in the National League, and I think they'll earn another W here with Chase Anderson on the hill.
Anderson (10-3, 2.88 ERA) is 5-2 with a 3.20 ERA in 10 career starts against Pittsburgh, including perfect 2-0 with a 2.43 ERA on the season. The Brew Crew have won each of his last two starts with the right-hander allowing just one earned run through 10 1/3 innings of work.
The Pirates counter with Trevor Williams (6-8, 4.26 ERA) who was tagged with four runs and four hits in 4 1/3 innings against the Cardinals his last time out. He surrendered three runs and six hits in six innings against the Brewers back in June in the lone career meeting heading into this contest.
Brewers are 4-0 in Anderson's last four starts against the Pirates and 5-1 in the last six meetings overall.
My free pick is on the Milwaukee Brewers.

Tuesday's comp play release is the Under in the Dodgers-Phillies game.

Their series opened last night with an Under as Los Angeles has now gone 4-1 Under the total in their last 5 games, a streak that started with Yu Darvish getting back on track in holding the Giants to just one run his last time to the mound.

Darvish is facing the Phillies for the first time in his career, so you would think he owns a slight advantage over the hitter who have not seen him before. Plus, Darvish owns a 2.59 ERA this season on the highway.

With last night's Under, Philly has now played Under in each of their last 4 games, and is 5-1-2 Under the posted price in their last 8 games played.

Aaron Nola was rock-solid his last trip to the hill - 7 innings of 1 run ball with 11 strikeouts versus Miami - a game that ended in a push totals-wise. 7 of Nola's 11 home starts this season have ended in the Under column.

Low-scoring game in the City of Brotherly Love tonight.

    Dodgers-Phillies Under the total.

Dodgers don't have much to play for at that has really shown down the stretch as they have been losing a'lot and tonight is a great chance for the Phillies to grab us a plus money win. Phillies won last night and cashed a huge +300 number wish I had played it but tonight Aaron Nola goes for the Phillies he is 11-10 with a 3.60 ERA he has been very good in the second half of the year. He faces off with Yu Darvish who had a great start last time out against the hapless Giants but overall he has been mediocre with the Dodgers. We will invest a 9 unit investment in the Phillies tonight. (Be sure to check out my NFL investors season pass just 449.99 for the next few days don't miss out also grab the bonus code today and get 10-15% off that price)

The Twins are the best money-making road underdog in baseball. That's where we find them today taking a hefty mid-range plus price.

The pitching matchup is Jose Berrios versus lefty CC Sabathia. Berrios has the lower ERA and is just beginning what promises to be a very good career. Depending on how you feel about Ervin Santana, Berrios is either the No. 1 or No. 2 pitcher on Minnesota. Berrios has allowed three earned runs or fewer in 16 of his 23 starts this season. In more than one-third of his starts, Berrios has held opponents to one earned run or fewer.

While Berriors is just entering his prime years, Sabathia is in the twillight of his career. Sabathia, who has chronic sore knees, was pushed back two days so he wouldn't have to pitch off the artificial turf in Toronto. So he is pitching on seven days rest here. Sabathia has a lifetime ERA of 4.17 when pitching with six or more days rest. He's done that seven times this year with an ERA of 4.72 in those outings.

The Twins are six games above .500 on the road and also have a winning mark versus lefties.

A pair of A.L. East rivals get set to duke it out in game 2 of a very important series. Red Sox on the road against the Orioles after recording a 10-8 win in 11 innings in the opening game of the series Monday night.

A Boston win in this game could turn out to be the final blow for the Orioles, and their ever-fading chances of a wild-card berth.

A look inside the numbers shows that the Red Sox are "road warriors" when they play bad teams, 5-1 in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a losing record.

They also seem to play nearly flawless baseball on Tuesday nights, as the Red Sox are 24-5 in their last 29 Tuesday games.

Baltimore, on the other hand, can't get it together against winning teams, 1-7 in their last 8 vs. a team with a winning record. They also can't play on the grass, 1-7 in their last 8 games on grass To make matters worse, these Orioles are 0-4 in their last 4 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.

Bottom line, its "goodnight" Orioles, so bet Boston!

    4* BOSTON

My free winner last night was a baseball total, as I nailed the New York Mets and Miami Marlins to sail past the easy number. I told you it would get to double digits, and it hit 14. Tonight my money is on the Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Rays going Over the posted number.

IMPORTANT: As you know every single Run Line play and Total wager will automatically list the scheduled starting pitchers at the time of the wager, and I want you to be sure the following pitchers are the registered starters on your ticket when making your wager: Mike Montgomery and Chris Archer. If one or both of these pitchers is not going, this is a no-play.

I don't know about Montgomery, who returns to the rotation to open this series tonight. The left-hander is 4-5 with a 4.62 ERA in 12 starts, and was relegated to the bullpen as backup over the weekend against the Cardinals. I'm just not a fan of his mechanics, and how he handles himself under pressure. If he gets rattled, he gets rocked.

Meanwhile, with one of my favorite pitchers in the league, Archer is in after taking the loss on Wednesday against the New York Yankees, as he allowed three runs in four innings. He did beat he Cubs at Wrigley Field back on July 4, when he allowed three runs in six innings. But the problem is Archer is 2-5 with a 4.26 ERA in 12 post-All-Star break starts.

These two starters will get tagged enough to see this total over before the bullpen comes into play.

    Play it high.

2* OVER Cubs-Rays (Montgomery and Archer)
