Hamilton vs. B.C. Lions
Play: B.C. Lions -12
The BC Lions will look will look to get things back on track after losing four of their last five games when they take on the lowly Hamilton Tiger-Cats at BC Place in Vancouver, BC on Friday night. The Lions have posted an 8-3 ATS record in their last eleven games where they faced a team with a losing record and they have gone an excellent 12-3-1 ATS in their last sixteen games following a straight up loss. The Tiger-Cats, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here on Friday as they have gone just 2-5 ATS in their last seven Friday night games and they are an awful 3-8-2 ATS in their last thirteen games following an ATS loss. They have also failed to cover the spread in eight of their last eleven road games and they are just 5-12-2 ATS in their last nineteen games overall going back to the middle of the 2016 season. Throw in the fact that the Lions are a perfect 4-0 ATS in the last four head-to-head meetings between the two teams and we're laying the points with them here to get the home win and cover in Vancouver on Friday evening.

CUBS AT BREWERS
PLAY: CUBS -115
This is how a slump will often begin. The Milwaukee Brewers have been a major surprise all season and they’re still very much alive in the hunt for the NL Central title as well as the second wild card berth in the upcoming post-season.
But the last two nights have been tough to swallow for the Brewers. The bullpen has simply not delivered when needed and Milwaukee has turned back to back wins into back to back losses.
I think the pressure could be mounting for this team. That’s not likely to be a problem for the reigning world champion Cubs
John Lackey has not had a banner season for the Cubs, but the veteran righty has looked sharper lately. Lackey has always been a guy I consider to be a money pitcher and I expect him to do well tonight. Brandon Woodruff has been a nice late season callup for Milwaukee. But he’ll be facing the biggest pressure start of his young career to date tonight. I can’t say I trust the rookie to a great extent in this situation.
I don’t think there’s much question that the Cubs will be a big public side tonight, so this won’t be falling into the value classification. But I’m willingly playing the role of square tonight. The Cubs are the free play for the day.

Colorado vs. San Diego
Pick: Over 8.5
Friday night we should see an opportunity for a lot of run scoring chances here.
Particularly the Rockies side of things should see a lot of traffic on the bases. Jordan Lyles goes for the Padres and he's been abysmal as of late. He's let up 11 runs in his last 9.0 innings of work and got knocked around for 7 runs in his last outing.
The Padres will take on Jon Gray, who has been a much worse pitcher on the road. Gray enters play with an ERA of 4.32 away from Coors Field.
Expect plenty of traffic on the bases in this one.

I know the St. Louis Cardinals are grinding to get into the playoffs, and arrive at PNC Park after capping a series sweep of the Cincinnati Reds with an 8-5 victory last night. The Redbirds hit the 80-win plateau and are five games behind the first-place Chicago Cubs in the National League Central.
More importantly, St. Louis sits 1 1/2 games back of the Colorado Rockies for the final wild-card spot with the Milwaukee Brewers one back of the Rockies. It's getting tight.
That all being said, my free pick is on the Pittsburgh Pirates, and I want you listing the scheduled starting pitchers: Ivan Nova and Michael Wacha.
These two met recently, and something tells me Nova will be looking for revenge against the Cardinals and Wacha.
Pittsburgh will be revved up to hit the field, after having Thursday off, after breaking a seven-game losing streak Wednesday with a walk-off 6-4 victory over the Brewers. So I like the Bucs here, hoping to spoil the Cardinals' postseason race, and with Nova getting revenge.
5* PIRATES (Nova over Wacha)

Now about this complimentary winner
I don't know what it is about San Diego, and Petco Park, but good teams go there to lose.
May 29-31, the Cubs got swept.
Sept. 1-3, the Dodgers won the lid-lifter and lost the last three.
To start the week, the Diamondbacks almost got swept, losing two of three.
There are other series I could mention, with teams that were good at the moment, or contending at that time, but are only in the wild card race now.
But San Diego has found a knack for beating playoff-contending teams. Period.
I'm sticking with the Friars again, who have won four of five, catching money from a Rockies team that has lost four straight.

10* FREE MLB PICK (Cubs -109)
You won't find a more demoralizing loss than what the Brewers suffered in yesterday's 3-5 loss in extra innings to the Cubs. Milwaukee rallied late from a 0-2 deficit to take a 3-2 lead going into the 9th and were 1 out away from a huge win, before Chicago tied it up and won it in the 10th. That's a huge momentum builder for the Cubs, who now smell blood with a 4.5-game lead in the NL Central and a chance to get that magic number down to 4 with a win tonight. I believe they do just that behind one of the hottest starters in the majors in John Lackey, who owns a 1.93 ERA and 0.750 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Milwaukee sends out Brandon Woodruff and they have lost all 3 of his home starts this season. It's also worth noting that the Cubs are 7-1 in Lackey's last 8 division starts, 5-1 in his last 6 against a team with a winning record and 4-1 in his last 5 on the road. Give me the Cubs -109!

MLB | Red Sox vs Reds
Play on: Red Sox -132 at BMaker
Jack's Free Pick Friday: Boston Red Sox -132
This is a pretty cheap price for the Boston Red Sox. They are trying to hold on to first place in the AL East at 3 games ahead of the New York Yankees. They are doing a good job of it by going 6-1 in their last seven games overall. Now they face a Reds team that is 66-87 and was just swept at home by the Cardinals last series.
Rick Porcello has been much better in the second half of the season, and he's 1-1 with a 1.46 ERA in his last three starts. Porcello has done his best work on the road this season, going 4-6 with a 3.43 ERA and 1.223 WHIP in 13 starts away from home.
Sal Romano is getting way too much respect from the books here. He has pitched well in his last three starts, but that has come against weak NL lineups in the Pirates (twice) and Mets. He is 5-6 with a 4.07 ERA and 1.422 WHIP in 14 starts this year. He'll have his work cut out for him against this potent Red Sox lineup.
Cincinnati is 6-21 vs. a team with a good bullpen whose ERA is 3.45 or better this season. The Red Sox are 81-33 in their last 114 interleague games vs. a team with a losing record. Boston is 10-1 in Porcello's last 11 interleague starts. The Reds are 17-45 in their last 62 interleague games. Bet the Red Sox Friday.

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Tampa Bay Rays -108
The Tampa Bay Rays have the edge on the mound over the Baltimore Orioles today and should be bigger favorites because of it. Alex Cobb is 11-10 with a 3.63 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 28 starts this year, including 2-1 with a 2.81 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in his last three. Ubaldo Jimenez is 6-10 with a 6.93 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in 24 starts, including 2-3 with a 7.28 ERA and 1.81 WHIP in 11 home starts. Cobb is 5-2 with a 2.54 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 11 previous starts against the Orioles. Jimenez is 0-2 with a 10.80 ERA in his last three starts against Tampa Bay, yielding 14 earned runs in 11 2/3 innings. Give me the Rays.
