Stephen Nover's CFL Game of the Month
Oct 09 '17, 2:00 PM
Edmonton vs Montreal
3* Edmonton -7 (-117)
Edmonton overachieved when it opened the season 7-0. But the Eskimos aren't as bad as their current six-game losing streak shows with five of the defeats coming to Calgary, Winnipg and Saskatchewan. Those teams own the three best records in the CFL. Look for the Eskimos to halt their losing streak against Montreal, the worst team in the CFL. The Alouettes haven't been good for a few years. They've struggled offensively, but had a decent defense. Now their defense has fallen apart surrendering an average of 38 points per game during their last seven games, all losses and non-covers. Montreal's offense remains bad, too, failing to break the 20-point barrier in all but one of those seven defeats. Montreal management tried to shake things up firing head coach Jacques Chapdelaine and defensive coordinator Noel Thorpe a couple of weeks ago. That hasn't helped. The Alouettes have lost their last two games by a combined 62 points. Edmonton needs to improve its ground attack. The Eskimos took a key step to doing just that trading for C.J. Gable, who just gained 157 yards on 18 carries and scored two touchdowns for Hamilton last week. Gable should rev up Edmonton's offense. The Eskmos have covered six of the last seven in the series.

GC: NHL Play
The Monday night 5* Game of the Month is up and NFL Sides are on a 14-2 run since last year. In MLB Action we have a powerful N.L.D.S Late night system up. NHL comp play below.
The NHL Comp play is on Anaheim at 10:05 eastern. The Ducks have the Curse of the Honda Center on their side tonight. Calgary has lost 29 straight road games to Anaheim. The Flames are 0-4 off a win and were shutout in their first road game this year before winning at home. The Ducks are getting guys back from injuries and have won 8 of the last 10 when scoring 2 or less. If its not broke we wont fix it. Look for the Ducks to extend the win streak to 30 at home vs the Flames. On Monday we start the week with The Monday night NFL Game of the Month. NFL Sides have won 14 of 16 on Monday night football. In bases we have a powerful late N.L.D.S Game 3 power play up. Message to jump on. For the NHL Free play. Take Anaheim. GC

Devils vs Sabres
2* Sabres -126
Sabres are treating this game very serious having lost their first two games of the season. Jack Eichel is healthy, which makes a huge difference for Buffalo, and Evander Kane has looked good early. The Devils are coming off a 4-1 victory against Colorado this past Saturday night, So this is a quick turnaround for them. New Jersey has a lot of inexperience, The Devils finished last season going 1-6 following a victory. They have a very poor road track record, too, at 17-40.

- STRONG NFL MONDAY NIGHT BEST BET
Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears
4% Under 40.0 (-110)
Sometimes it's best not to overthink things. We have rookie QB Mitch Trubisky making his first NFL start for Chicago. There are sure to be nerves, especially under the Monday Night lights. I expect a Chicago game plan that leans to the conservative side. Trubisky will be facing a good Vikings defense. The Bears will try to run, but the Vikes are allowing just 3.1 yards per carry. On the flip side, we have either Case Keenum or what should be a rusty Sam Bradford (should he play) at QB for Minnesota. The Vikes lost its best ground threat when rookie RB Dalvin Cook went down with an ACL injury. Chicago's defense has been solid here at home, holding a potent Falcons offense to 23 points and a talented Steelers offense to 17 points. Looks to me like a game in which we see more FGs than TDs.

4-Unit Play. Take #631 Edmonton -7.5 over Montreal (Monday, October 9th at 2:00 PM ET)
Take Edmonton ATS as my 4-Unit CFL Smash for Monday. This pick falls into one of my top CFL systems and I have the Eskimos winning by 14+ points on the road Monday. The Eskimos are hands down the superior team here Monday and the Alouettes are0-6 ATS in their last 6 games after a loss and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Eskimos are 6-1 ATS in the last 7 games played between these two teams and 4-1 in their last 5 trips to Montreal. Play Edmonton ATS
