    Week 5 Recap

Week 5 came to a close last night with the Chicago Bears covering by a half point in a 20-17 loss to Minnesota. Despite Chicago closing the game in possession of the football, bettors likely didn’t feel any comfort until the clock read “0:00” after seeing last week’s Monday night debacle. Here’s how the rest of the week played out.

•Underdogs and favorites split the slate this week, each going 7-7 ATS. Dogs maintain slight edge in 2017 at 41-35.

•Visitors went 9-5 ATS in Week 5. They, too, now have a slight edge on the season at 39-35.

•Teams getting less than 35% of bets improved to 21-10 against the spread this season, going 2-1 in Week 5.

•It’s a small sample size, but combining those three filters creates a system that’s now 9-3 on the season.

•Underdogs had another profitable week on the moneyline, going 6-8 for a net 1.3 units. Dogs are now 29-48 on the season, but are up 4.8 units.

•The Jaguars +290 win at Pittsburgh was the highest paying moneyline win of Week 5, and 4th highest payout this season.

•The under went 8-6, and was 5-1 in the six lowest totals of the week.

•The Chiefs are now the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL, both straight up and against the spread. Buffalo was 4-0 ATS heading into this past weekend, but lost by 4 to Cincinnati as a 3 point dog.

•Cowboys’ bettors suffered a tough beat this week at the hands of Aaron Rodgers. After taking a 3 point lead (as 2.5 point favorites) with 1:13 to go, Dallas surrendered a 9 play, 72 yard drive in the final minute, ultimately losing 35-31.

•After throwing for 3 TDs in that game, Rodgers now has the league lead with 13. He was +450 to lead the NFL prior to the season.

•Devonta Freeman and Leonard Fournette are tied for the league lead with 5 rushing touchdowns. Freeman’s odds were +1700 back in August, and Fournette was at +2400.
