After losing the first 4 games of the season it looked like the Chargers were about to be written off. The difference is the Los Angeles team has started to really pick up the pace quite a bit here and have managed to pick up quite a few wins as of late and are going to face New England with a 3 game winning streak.
Offensively the Chargers are putting up 251 yards a game in the air, but are getting only 79 yards a game on the ground. The scoring has seen the Chargers get 19 points per game. The defense is giving up 18 points a game.
The Patriots are looking like the same team that won the Super Bowl last season, minus the outstanding comeback win they had in the Super Bowl. The Patriots should be able to come into this game with quite a bit of confidence as the Patriots have recently beaten a lot of good teams.
Offensively the Patriots are getting 300 yards a game in the air. However, the rushing attack has managed to get 110 yards a game. The scoring has the Patriots tipping the scales at 28 points a game, but the defense is giving up 24 points per game.

The bye week came at a good time for Detroit, after having lost two straight and three of its last four. They have a tough test this coming week when they host the Steelers, a team that is 5-2 and leading the AFC North.
The Steelers were supposed to be an explosive offensive team this year, and there have been flashes, but success has come so far with traditional Steeler defense. Pittsburgh is third in the league allowing 16.6 points per game. The Steelers are averaging 20.7 points, which has been enough most weeks. Pittsburgh is averaging 246 yards passing and 113 rushing.
Ben Roethlisberger has thrown for 1745 yards and nine touchdowns with eight interceptions. Le"Veon Bell has rushed for 684 yards and four touchdowns. Antonio Brown has 765 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Martavis Bryant has 234 yards receiving, amid reports he is unhappy and wanting a trade.

The Seahawks seem to be on the right track after starting 1-2 on the season. Seattle has won its last three and is a half-game back in the NFC West. The Seahawks lead the league on defense, holding opponents to 15.7 points per game. Their defense may get a challenge this coming week when the team hosts the Houston Texans.
Houston is led by rookie quarterback DeShaun Watson. The Texans are third in the league in rushing at 137 yards per game, and third in overall offense at 29.2 points per game.

Panthers at Buccaneers 10/29/17 - NFL Picks & Predictions

In flashes, Cam Newton has looked more like the MVP quarterback he was two years ago than the below-average one he was last season. Although Newton has his Panthers as one of the two NFC South teams with four wins, they've lost back-to-back games with just 26 points in the last two games.
At Chicago last week, Carolina (4-3) managed just three points. Newton threw for two interceptions and didn't have a single touchdown strike. Earlier this season, he threw for three touchdowns in back-to-back weeks against Detroit and New England, but in the two games since, he's thrown for just one touchdown and five interceptions.
Carolina is finding ways to get the ball to rookie flex back Christian McCaffrey. He's carried the ball 45 times this season and has 44 receptions. He's been a lot more effective in the latter aspect of the game, with 7.5 yards per reception, compared to 2.5 yards per carry.
Tampa Bay (2-4) has lost three games in a row, all by five points or less. The Buccaneers are at the bottom of the NFC South and need a serious run to get back in the playoff picture. Although Tampa Bay lost to Buffalo last week, Jameis Winston had one of his best games of the season. It was his first game with three touchdowns and he notched 384 passing yards.
Mike Evans has racked up more than 85 receiving yards in each of the last two games with a touchdown.

Falcons at Jets 10/29/17 - NFL Picks & Predictions

The season has turned south for the defending-runner-up Atlanta Falcons, who started the season 3-0 but have slipped up in three-straight weeks for a 3-3 record. In a Super Bowl rematch last Sunday, Atlanta fell 23-7 against New England.
Quarterback Matt Ryan was somewhat efficient against the Patriots, with 23 of 33 passes completed for 233 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. However, Atlanta converted on just 2 of 9 third-down attempts and scored on just 1 of 4 red zone trips in the loss. So far this season, Ryan has thrown for just seven touchdown passes after being so brilliant last season.
Receiver Julio Jones was also incredible last season but hauled in just his first touchdown reception of the season against New England. He's also eclipsed the 100-yard mark just once this season, after doing so seven times last year.
New York (3-4) is competitive this season, with three wins and three of its losses coming by nine points or less. The Jets are coming off a three-point loss at Miami.
Despite the loss against the Dolphins, quarterback Josh McCown had his first three-touchdown win of the season. He completed 17 of 27 passes for 209 yards en route to the three scores. McCown has been good in the last few weeks, with multiple touchdowns thrown in each of the last three games.
New York has had trouble running the ball this season, as the Jets are still looking for their first 300-yard rusher.

The Chicago Bears (3 - 4, 1 - 2 Away) are on the road this week in order to take on the home town New Orleans Saints (4 - 2, 1 - 1 Home). Chicago has been one of the more surprising teams in the NFL this year as they've coalesced around a dominant defense to stay competitive with even the elite teams in the NFL. New Orleans has won four straight games and they'll be playing the part of host at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA.
New Orleans has always been one of the best teams in the NFL while at home and we don't expect that to change this year. New Orleans is led by QB Drew Brees (1,652 yards, 11 TD, 4 INT) on offense and he'll figure to have a dominant showing here. Brees will have to contend with a dominant Chicago defensive rush so we figure to see a lot of dump off passes in the screen game. New Orleans is averaging 29 PPG on offense.
Chicago takes the field behind rookie QB Mitchell Trubisky (348 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT) and one of the most conservative offenses that the NFL has ever seen. Chicago runs a borderline college offense which limits the scoring upside of Chicago's offense. Chicago is a dominant running team that leans on slowing the game down and grinding out wins. Chicago is giving up just 320 yards to opposing teams per game.

The Colts have had quite a few issues getting anything going on the season. First they started off with Luck being unlucky and hurt. However, the season then went from bad to worse on Sunday as Malik Hooker was lost for the rest of the season as he injured his knee and is done for year.
Jacoby Brissett has done a decent job stepping in at the quarterback position, but he is no Luck. Brissett has managed to get 1409 yards in the air and 3 touchdowns. The lack of a running attack has hurt as well as Frank Gore has carried 94 times for 322 yards and only 2 scores.
The Bengals season has been one that has seen them beat only the weaker teams in the league, but when faced with any form of competition the Bengals are dropping games like flies. However, that is because the Bengals defense is spending more time on the field than any other part of the team and simply getting worn down.
Andy Dalton, who used to be a great quarterback, has thrown for only 1360 yards this year and 9 touchdowns. The Bengals running attack is lackluster as well as Joe Mixon is the leading rusher for the Bengals with 74 carries on 235 yards and a single score.

The Detroit Pistons are on the road for, perhaps, their toughest challenge of the season against the Golden State Warriors. Golden State will be hosting this game at the ORACLE Arena where they have been among the greatest teams in the league over the past several years. Golden State is riding a three game winning streak while Detroit comes into this game on the second night of a back-to-back set.
Golden State will be taking the floor with an offense that is firing on all cylinders. Golden State is averaging 123 points in their past three games, winning all of them, while getting contributions up and down the entire roster. Golden State is one of the most efficient shooting teams in the NBA once again and they'll be able to pick apart Detroit's defense with relative ease. Kevin Durant is in particular on a hot streak right now and he is coming off of a 31 point, 11 rebound, 6 assist outing against Washington.
The Detroit Pistons have played surprisingly well to this point in the season and there are high expectations for the rest of the year. Tobias Harris has turned into a surprisingly stout scoring option both in the post and on the perimeter and he needs to have a good night for Detroit to be successful. Still, Detroit is going to be under-powered throughout this game so expect the Pistons to try and slow down and dirty the game up in the paint.

Dwight Howard averages 14.4 points and 17.6 rebounds per game in his first season with Charlotte. He has the potential to make a big difference there if he can put his head down and play hard.
