The Los Angeles Clippers (4 -2, 2 - 2 Home) are heading back to the STAPLES Center to host the visiting Dallas Mavericks (1 - 7, 0 - 3 Away). Dallas has been one of the worst teams in all of the NBA this year and the Mavs have lost four of their past five games. Dallas will be taking on a Los Angeles team that has also started to stumble of late. The Clippers have lost back-to-back games, including a blowout loss to Golden State just a few nights ago.
The Los Angeles Clippers are one of the most curious teams in the West as many thought they'd be re-building, but that isn't the case. Instead, LA is coming together around Blake Griffin (23 PPG on 47% shooting) and big man DeAndre Jordan (9 PPG, 16 RPG). Los Angeles is scoring 107 PPG on offense so far this season while giving up just 101 PPG to opposing teams.
The Dallas Mavericks are the midst of what is turning into an ugly rebuild. Harrison Barnes (17 PPG, 6 RPG) is ostensibly the team leader but the future belongs to rookie Dennis Smith Jr. Dallas is only scoring 98 PPG on offense right now which is just not sustainable in today's NBA. Dallas has a banged up roster with Seth Curry and Dorian Finney-Smith both missing some time. The Mavs will be hard pressed to keep up with LA's physicality in this game.

Portland is holding opposing teams to just 98 PPG so far this season. Portland needs to bring that defensive grit to keep close with Utah's playstyle.

Toronto has come on strong over the past week, scoring wins over both Los Angeles and Portland. Denver, too, has been playing better. The Nuggets have won two of their past three games. The relatively surprising Magic and Grizzlies play in Memphis Wednesday, with both teams coming in with 5-2 records. November is just starting, but both of these teams are off to good starts, and the question will be whether they can maintain their winning ways.
Memphis has now won three in a row. They have two wins over Houston and one win over Golden State already. Memphis is rolling with its traditional strong defense and offense that is good enough. The Grizzlies are third in the league on defense, holding teams to 95.6 points per game, and they are scoring 100.6.

Irving leads Boston in scoring with 21.7 points per game. Second-year player Jaylen Brown is second on the team with 15.4 points per game. He had 18 points on 6 of 11 shooting in the win against the Spurs.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were one of the weakest teams last year in closing out games. They seem to have turned the corner this year, and they have won two in a row, both by three points. The 4-3 Timberwolves host another up and coming team in the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.
Minnesota has beaten the Thunder twice this year already and all four of their wins have been by two or three points.
The Pelicans bring a different challenge that could match up well with the Timberwolves. DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis provide one of the best front courts in the league. The Timberwolves counter with Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, who are also having great years.

The Timberwolves also take care of the ball, averaging 14 turnovers per game while the Pelicans average 19. Minnesota is sixth in the league in scoring at 109.4 points per game, and 28th on defense, allowing 115.3. Things aren't going well for the Suns, who had lost four of six going into their Tuesday matchup with the Nets. Eric Bledsoe, who requested a trade, has been away from the team. A decimated staff is attempting to put the pieces together to win some games while Phoenix is expected to bring up the rear in the Western Conference. The Suns face Washington on Wednesday.
As expected, Devin Booker leads the Suns in scoring. He averages 20.5 points per game and is coming off an excellent game against Portland. Despite a seven-point loss for Phoenix, Booker netted 34 points, dished out six assists and pulled down six rebounds. He shot 11 of 19 from the field and 4 of 7 from 3-point range.
TJ Warren averages 14.0 points for the Suns and had 27 points last Wednesday against Utah.
Washington bounced back from back-to-back losses to beat Sacramento on the road a couple days ago. The Wizards outscored the Kings by 27 points after establishing a 63-32 lead at halftime. They dished out more than twice as many assists, with 28 compared to Sacramento's 13.
Point guard John Wall is averaging a double-double with 21.7 points and 10.3 assists per game. Wall was incredible from 3-point range against the Kings, by knocking down 5 of 6 from the outside. It's a part of game Wall has worked on over the last few seasons, and as he's improved, he's become a nightmare for opposing defenses to guard.

Toronto has one of the best offenses in the league, but is barely above the five hundred mark on the season so far. The main reason is the defense really has to improve to reach the point that will be able to keep the opponents from keeping pace of the offensive scoring flurry on the year.
Auston Matthews has really stepped up again this season to lead the Maple Leafs. Matthews has been able to score 9 goals, but has a total of 16 points.
With the Ducks they are jut over the five hundred mark as well. However, the Ducks are a team that has had quite a few struggles on the year and have not been able to pick up a lot of wins in the close games. The good news is everyone knows the Ducks are a good team and have been able to beat quite a few competitors that have been playing strong hockey on the season.
The Ducks are led by Andrew Cogliano. Cogliano has been able to score a total of 9 points on the season. What else is great about Cogliano is he has managed to get a total of 6 assist.

Nashville rolls into this game having just gotten beaten down by the New York Islanders. San Jose is coming to town just a few days after narrowly edging out the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Changes tracks from last out at Keeneland to here. Multiple wins on different tracks tell me this horse likes to switch it up, so that's a good sign. SKY ALERT - I like this thoroughbred. Should be familiar with this class level since he ran against the same type last time around the track at Belterra Park. Entered a $5,000 Claiming race at Belterra Park last time around the track and raced on a track listed as good finishing fifth. Have to give a better effort right here.

Earned a somewhat easily forgotten speed figure last race out in a $5,000 Claiming race on Sep 24th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that fig.
