The Hawks don't have any capable outside shooters, yes not even the hobbled Denis Snhroder and here against this type of explosive Rockets team I'm betting they do their best to slow this game down and turn it into a grinding physical affair. The Hawks are without three injured rotation members -- Ersan Ilyasova (knee), Miles Plumlee (quad) and DeAndre Bembry (wrist) and I'm betting their offensive flow will be off. This above combination will lead to what will be a lower scoring affair then the pundits and lines-makers might expect.
I know the Hawks have a different look then the last few seasons, but their output expectations are even less now than they were so the following trends in my opinion are applicable.
ATLANTA is 13-4 UNDER L/17 in a home game where the total is 210 to 219.5 and 9-0 UNDER L/9 after 2 straight losses by 10 points or more and 13-1 UNDER off a road loss by 10 points or more.

The Detroit Pistons have been one of the most underrated teams in the NBA in the early going. They quietly got better in the offseason by bringing in Avery Bradley from the Boston Celtics. He is one of the 3-and-D guys in the NBA that doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Bradley has helped the Pistons off to a 5-3 SU & 6-2 ATS record thus far. That includs road wins over the likes of the LA Clippers (95-87) and Golden State Warriors (115-107) to really show their potential. They promptly had a letdown against the Lakers following those two wins last time out, and we were on the Lakers because of the terrible spot for the Pistons. But now they should be re-focused and ready to go at home tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks have been mostly overvalued this season because of all the hype surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo. He is having a monster season, but he isn't getting much help around him. And the Bucks rank just 25th in opponents field goal percentage (46.7%), so they aren't getting it done on the defensive end.

Home-court advantage has been huge in this series as the home team is 7-2 SU in the last nine meetings. The Pistons are 34-13 SU in their last 47 home meetings with the Bucks. Detroit is 39-22 ATS as a home favorite over the last three seasons. The Pistons are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 home games off an upset loss as a favorite. Bet the Pistons Friday.

I think we are getting great value here with New Orleans laying a short number on the road against the Mavericks. Dallas is one of the worst teams in the league and that's evident by their 1-8 record to start the year. On top of that the talent simply isn't there for the Mavs to be a serious contender this season.
While the Pelicans have started out just 3-5, there's no denying they have two of the league's best players in DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis. The schedule also hasn't been easy to this point. All 5 of their losses have come against teams who are sitting at 5-3 or better. They enter having lost back-to-back at home against the Magic and Timberwolves and I think that's a positive here when looking to back New Orleans, as we can expect a big time effort and easy cover.
Pelicans are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games vs a team with a losing home record and a perfect 6-0 ATS in their last 6 when on the road facing a team that's won less than 40% of their home games. Mavs are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games vs a team with a losing straight up record. Take New Orleans!

And the Pelicans twin towers of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins should feast in the low post against a Mavericks team that ranks dead last in the NBA in defensive efficiency, allowing a whopping 111.5 points per 100 possessions – worse than the Cavs, Nets, Suns or Kings. Coming off back-2-back losses against quality foes, this is a legitimate ‘step-up’ spot for the road favorite! Take the Pelicans.
