Mahoning Valley Race Course - Race #5 - Post: 2:36pm - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $11,200 Class Rating: 89

    Rating: 3

    #2 SQUEEGEE (ML=4/1)
    #6 TORRONTES (ML=6/1)

SQUEEGEE - Entered a $5,000 Claiming race at Mahoning Valley Race Cour in the last race and raced on a track listed as good finishing fifth. I'd expect a better race right here. This gelding might as well call Mahoning Valley Race Course home. Don't overlook how he races well over this racing venue. After a nice race two starts ago, this equine bounced. Now today, I expect another good performance. TORRONTES - This gelding is in excellent physical condition right now. Ended up first in the last race and comes back rapidly. The jock/handler twosome of Ccamaque and Dillion has a strong return on investment together. This animal is tops in earnings per race entered. He looks strong in today's race. Look at this pattern of improvement. 58/68/82 are the last three speed ratings.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #1 SENSATIONAL RIDE (ML=1/1), #1A WOELF DEN (ML=1/1), #7 PEPPERMINT PRINCE (ML=8/1),

SENSATIONAL RIDE - There's zip, zip, and more speed in this affair. Doesn't look too good for this horse. WOELF DEN - I don't normally play a morning-line favorite that hasn't been to the track in the last few weeks. PEPPERMINT PRINCE - You figure that this horse is going to be first just because he's always close. Just doesn't get the job done regularly.

    STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Bet on #2 SQUEEGEE to win if you can get at least 5/2 odds

    # 5 TOTALED THE BENZ 5/2

    # 9 KENSINGTON KID 5/1

    # 7 EL TOCAYO 7/2

I lean toward TOTALED THE BENZ here. Has put up reliable Equibase speed figs in dirt sprint races in the past. The speed fig of 69 from his most recent contest looks decent in here. Has quite good Equibase Class Figures relative to this group - worth a look. KENSINGTON KID - Trainers don't bring racers back this quickly without a good reason. Had one of the top speed figs of this group in his last contest. EL TOCAYO - Could beat this group of animals given the 65 speed figure earned in his last outing. Win percentage with this jockey and handler combo - 29 percent - strong.

    Rating: 4

    #2 I'VEGOTAFEELING (GB) (ML=8/1)
    #3 TOCCET'S CHARM (ML=7/2)
    #6 STRUT N SWAGGER (ML=9/2)

I'VEGOTAFEELING (GB) - You always have to be on the patrol for money generating jock/handler duos; we have one right here. This gelding runs very well off of a layoff. TOCCET'S CHARM - This gelding hasn't won in his last three starts, but he did win on July 8th against better at 1 1/16 miles. Don't often see a profitable return on investment like +215. This rider/conditioner duo has done well together over the last year. I like to bet on this handicapping angle, a horse coming back off a sharp effort within the last month. I sense a pace scenario where the pace will fade, setting up a perfect situation for his late kick. STRUT N SWAGGER - When Ramgeet and Diodoro team up on animals the winning percent has been fantastic at 31. Look for this one to go to the winner's circle at some pretty good odds in this event. Ran fourth in last race, but not more than 5 from the lead at the wire.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #1 AMP AND ADRENALIN (ML=3/1), #5 MISSING GROOM (ML=4/1), #7 DOC (ML=5/1),

AMP AND ADRENALIN - This vulnerable equine hasn't been on the track since November 4th. Not even any morning drills. MISSING GROOM - This gelding is always hitting the board, but just doesn't get the job done. Hard to play him on the front end. DOC - Awfully tough to wager on this horse when he hasn't been showing any fighting spirit of late.

    STRAIGHT WAGERS:
#2 I'VEGOTAFEELING (GB) is going to be the play if we are getting 4/1 or better

    The Walker Group Picks

    # 5 SORULLO 2/1

    # 4 BILTMORE BOOGIE 9/5

    # 8 GEE FORCE 20/1

SORULLO is the most competitive bet in this race. His 78 average has this gelding with among the top Equibase speed figs in this race. Has been running soundly in races of this distance, going 14 out of 58 under similar conditions. He looks very good in this spot and I expect will be on the lead or close at the halfway point. BILTMORE BOOGIE - Has been running very well and has among the most respectable speed in the race for today's distance. Ramgeet will probably be able to get this gelding to break out early in this race. GEE FORCE - This gelding obviously likes the distance, going 5 for 20 in his races recently. He has been running solidly and the speed figures are among the top in this group.

    Preview: Heat at Cavaliers

    Gracenote
    Nov 28, 2017

The Cleveland Cavaliers attempt to increase their winning streak to nine consecutive games when they host the Miami Heat on Tuesday. The Cavaliers are averaging 112 points during the stretch after rolling to a 113-91 road win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

Cleveland has seemingly found itself after a slow start partially due to adjusting to the departure of guard Kyrie Irving but things have now fallen into place. "We're just trying to get better each day, each game," Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue told reporters after Monday's win. "We're finally figuring out who we are. We're getting better defensively and offensively we're sharing the ball." Miami has won three consecutive games behind Eastern Conference Player of the Week Goran Dragic, who averaged 23.7 points and made 11-of-19 3-pointers during the stretch. Dragic, who averages a team-best 19.2 points, averaged just seven points on 6-of-19 shooting over a two-game span before breaking out and scoring at least 20 in the three contests.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, NBATV, FSN Sun (Miami), FSN Ohio (Cleveland)

ABOUT THE HEAT (10-9): Dragic scored a team-best 24 points in Sunday's 100-93 victory over Chicago but the four reserves who played combined for 54 points on 18-of-33 shooting. Guard Wayne Ellington drained five 3-pointers while scoring 19 points, forward James Johnson scored 15 and guard Tyler Johnson, along with center Kelly Olynyk, scored 10 apiece. "We have a lot of weapons on this team," Johnson told reporters. "We have a lot of guys who could do it. We're all trying to play our roles and master that."

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (13-7): Cleveland last lost on Nov. 9 to the Western Conference-leading Houston Rockets and three of its last four wins have been by double digits. Forward LeBron James contributed 30 points, 13 rebounds and six assists against Philadelphia and is averaging 29.7 points with four 30-point outings over the past six contests. Backup shooting guard Dwyane Wade is averaging 14.3 points over the last three games and averaged 18.7 points in three games against his former team last season when he played for Chicago.

    BUZZER BEATERS

    1. The Heat went 3-1 against the Cavaliers last season but Cleveland's lone victory was by 30 points.

    2. Miami starting SF Josh Richardson is averaging 2.3 points on 3-of-19 shooting over the past three games.

    3. Cleveland SG Iman Shumpert (knee) was scoreless in seven minutes against the 76ers after missing the previous three games.

    PREDICTION: Cavaliers 107, Heat 98

    Preview: Suns at Bulls

    Gracenote
    Nov 27, 2017

The Chicago Bulls' rebuilding project had led to the team holding the worst record in the NBA heading into Tuesday's home contest against the Phoenix Suns. Chicago has dropped five straight games and 10 of its past 11 as it entertains the Suns, who have lost their last three contests.

Chicago's latest defeat Sunday occurred in an odd 100-93 decision against Miami as the Bulls held the Heat to seven first-period points before giving up 38 in the second. "Nobody on our team wants to learn from losing," second-year forward Denzel Valentine told reporters. "Everyone wants to learn by winning. But at the same time, all you can do is go out and compete." Phoenix star guard Devin Booker (big toe) hopes to return from a one-game absence and he struggled to just 15 points on 5-of-15 shooting during a 113-105 home win over the Bulls on Nov. 19. Booker suffered the injury during Friday's loss to the New Orleans Pelicans before sitting out Sunday's setback against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, FSN Arizona (Phoenix), WGN (Chicago)

ABOUT THE SUNS (7-14): Booker's absence led to increased playing time for 27-year-old rookie guard Mike James and he responded with a career-best 26 points in 30 minutes. "I think it's a little bit skewed because obviously Booker didn't play," James told reporters while downplaying his solid effort. "Most of the shots I took were more his shots." First-round pick Josh Jackson moved into the starting lineup with Booker out and he struggled to five points on 2-of-10 shooting to mark his eighth single-digit outing in 11 games.

ABOUT THE BULLS (3-15): Jerian Grant lost his starting point guard spot to Kris Dunn and responded with outings of 21 points against the Golden State Warriors and a career-best 24 against the Heat. "I feel like when I'm out there with the second unit guys, I have that opportunity more," Grant told reporters about being able to look to score. "Coming off the bench I have to be aggressive and I feel like that helps our team. Being out there with that lineup, it's the punch I can give them." Dunn is averaging four points on 2-of-17 shooting in those same two games but coach Fred Hoiberg reiterated that he will remain the starter.

    BUZZER BEATERS

    1. The Suns are looking to sweep the Bulls for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign.

    3. Phoenix SF TJ Warren has scored in double digits in 12 straight games, reaching 20 six times during the stretch.

    Preview: Wizards at Timberwolves

    Gracenote
    Nov 27, 2017

The Minnesota Timberwolves look to go 3-1 on a four-game homestand when they match up with the Washington Wizards on Tuesday. Minnesota is off to a strong 12-8 start and it could get better with four-time Washington All-Star John Wall sidelined with a left knee injury.

Wall is expected to miss approximately two more weeks and the Wizards are mired in a slump in which they have dropped four of their last five games. Washington is hoping platelet injections will settle down the inflammation in Wall's knee and keep him from experiencing a longer absence. The Timberwolves are coming off Sunday's 119-108 victory over the Phoenix Suns as center Karl-Anthony Towns had 32 points and 12 rebounds for his NBA-leading 16th double-double. "It's good to get a win, no matter what," Towns said afterward. "What kind of win, whether it's ugly, very good looking, it doesn't matter. All wins count the same and I'm glad we came out with a win."

TV: 8 p.m. ET, NBCSN Washington, FSN North (Minnesota)

ABOUT THE WIZARDS (10-9): Shooting guard Bradley Beal will be counted on to lead Washington through the stretch without Wall and he has been superb this season with an average of 24.2. Beal scored 26 points in Saturday's 108-105 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers for his sixth consecutive 20-point outing but was disappointed he missed the tying 3-point attempt at the buzzer. "I guess there was just a little guy sitting on top of the rim knocking the ball out of there," Beal said afterward. "I definitely put it on my shoulders."

ABOUT THE TIMBERWOLVES (12-8): Towns' big effort against the Suns came after he failed to reach 20 points in five consecutive games and drew criticism from coach Tom Thibodeau over his lack of movement away from the ball. Power forward Taj Gibson was only in line for praise after producing 16 points and a season-best 14 rebounds against the Suns for his seventh double-double. "He adds a lot to the team, the way he plays," Thibodeau said afterward. "He's got great quickness, he's got great feet, but there's a toughness to him that makes him what we need, too."

    BUZZER BEATERS

    1. The teams split last season's two meetings and each squad has won eight of their past 16 matchups.

    2. Minnesota PG Jeff Teague (Achilles) could miss his third consecutive contest.

    3. Washington SF Otto Porter Jr. had 24 points and 10 rebounds against Portland for his sixth double-double of the campaign.

    PREDICTION: Timberwolves 107, Wizards 104

    Preview: Nuggets at Jazz

    Gracenote
    Nov 27, 2017

The Utah Jazz have seemingly righted the ship after a lengthy slump, but the positive results have come against the bottom half of the Eastern Conference. The Jazz will try to knock off one of the many teams above them in the West when they host the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday in the finale of a three-game homestand.

Following a 1-7 stretch, Utah has claimed three victories in the last four games against Orlando, Chicago and Milwaukee, a trio that entered Monday with a combined 20-36 record. Denver presents a different challenge, although it is still figuring some things out in the wake of the wrist injury to forward Paul Millsap, who is out several months following surgery. The Nuggets leaned on star center Nikola Jokic (28 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists) in a 104-92 victory over Memphis at home Friday night. Tuesday's contest will be just the sixth in a 15-day span for Denver, which has lost six straight in Salt Lake City.

TV: 10 p.m. ET, ESPN, Altitude (Denver), AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain (Utah)

ABOUT THE NUGGETS (11-8): Kenneth Faried has made two starts in Millsap's place since the injury, standing out in Friday's win with 14 points and nine rebounds, and coach Michael Malone knows his veteran forward can bring something unique to the table. "What sets Kenneth apart from most people is he's an elite runner, he's an elite offensive rebounder and he's an elite athlete," Malone told reporters. Faried made 8-of-12 free throws against Memphis while his teammates combined to go 7-for-14, which dropped the team's percentage from the line to 72 percent, 28th in the league entering Monday.

ABOUT THE JAZZ (9-11): Rookie Donovan Mitchell hit six of Utah's franchise-record 18 3-pointers in the 121-108 victory over Milwaukee on Saturday as the squad continued to lean on its perimeter game with center Rudy Gobert sidelined. "I thought we were unbelievably unselfish," coach Quin Snyder told reporters after his team tied a season high with 31 assists. "I thought offensively, we were really connected in trying to help each other. And when you do that, you have a better chance at having a really good shooting night." The Jazz are averaging 13.6 made 3-pointers and hitting 42.1 percent of their long-range attempts in the eight games since Gobert went down with a knee injury.

    BUZZER BEATERS

    1. Jazz PG Ricky Rubio is 5-for-8 from beyond the arc over a three-game span after going 2-for-29 over his previous eight contests.

    2. Nuggets SG Gary Harris has 11 steals over his last three games and is averaging 18 points since coming back from a shoulder injury five games ago.

    3. Jokic was held to seven points on 3-of-10 shooting as Utah defeated Denver 106-96 in the opener for both teams Dec. 18.

    PREDICTION: Jazz 113, Nuggets 108

    Preview: Bucks at Kings

    Gracenote
    Nov 28, 2017

The Sacramento Kings are fresh off their biggest win of the season and look to ride the momentum when they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday. The Kings halted a nine-game road slide by recording a 110-106 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday - their first victory in Oakland since March 2013.

Sacramento shot 53.2 percent from the field - the first Golden State opponent to shoot better than 50 percent this season - and got a huge performance from backup center Willie Cauley-Stein, who scored 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting and also registered eight rebounds and six assists. The 24-year-old is displaying signs of emerging as an offensive player by scoring 18 or more points in four of the past six games, including a season-high 26 against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. Milwaukee split the first two contests of a four-game road excursion, while All-Star small forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was highly disturbed during Saturday's 121-108 loss to the Utah Jazz, even getting into a heated argument with assistant coach Sean Sweeney. "We've just got to play harder, put more effort into it," Antetokounmpo told reporters afterward. "If you get frustrated, there's no point."

TV: 10 p.m. ET, FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee), NBCSN California (Sacramento)

ABOUT THE BUCKS (9-9): Antetokounmpo continued his MVP-caliber campaign with 27 points and 13 rebounds against the Jazz for his 16th 20-point outing and ninth double-double of the season. Antetokounmpo ranks second in the NBA in scoring (29.5) and his all-around standout stats include averages of 10.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.8 blocked shots and 1.5 steals. Guard Malcolm Brogdon, the NBA Rookie of the Year last season, has taken well to a reserve role since the acquisition of Eric Bledsoe, and scored 19 points and matched his career high of four 3-pointers in the Utah contest.

ABOUT THE KINGS (6-14): Sacramento's nine road losses are by an average of 19.6 points and includes an embarrassing 46-point loss to the Atlanta Hawks, one of three NBA teams with a worse record than the Kings. So even with All-Stars Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant out of the Golden State lineup, it was still a milestone victory for the struggling team to win in the home building of a longtime nemesis. "It's good for confidence," Sacramento coach Dave Joerger told reporters after the win. "They don't lose in here very often, no matter what. ... It's a feather in (our) hat for sure."

    BUZZER BEATERS

    1. The Bucks swept last season's two meetings by an average of 22 points.

    2. Sacramento rookie G Frank Mason III scored a season-best 14 points against the Warriors and has reached double digits in four of the past five games.

    3. Milwaukee SG Khris Middleton tallied only nine points on 4-of-15 shooting against Utah after scoring 40 points three nights earlier against the Phoenix Suns - his second effort of 40 or more points this season.
