RACE #8 -AQUEDUCT - 3:47 PM EASTERN POST
The New York Stallion Stakes Series - Thunder Rumble Division
7.0 FURLONGS DIRT THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD STAKES $125,000.00 PURSE

    #4 NOBODY MOVE
    #1 GOLD FOR THE KING
    #7 LOKI'S VENGEANCE
    #6 BECKER'S GALAXY

This race was originally scheduled to be run on November 19th, but racing that day was cancelled due to high winds. The New York Stallion Series was created by the New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc. The Thunder Rumble is named for the colt who in 1992 became the first New York-bred to win the Travers. He was described as a "sensation at Saratoga" for his wins in the Jim Dandy, Travers, and Saratoga Cup Handicap. Here in the 11th running of "The Rumble," #4 NOBODY MOVE, a 10-1 BOMB on top folks, scored with a win in his last start, and has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in four of his last five starts. Jockey Victor Lebron has been in his irons on two previous occasions, hitting the board in both, inclulding a win, and is back this afternoon here in Ozone Park for his 3rd ride, gunning for back-to-back "Circle Trips!" #1 GOLD FOR THE KING, the morning line favorite, drops in class (-9_ and has produced a quartet of "POWER RUNS" in his last five starts, including a "POWER RUN WIN" in his 5th race back.

    Aqueduct - Race #2 - Post: 12:49pm - Maiden Special - 8.5 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $55,000 Class Rating: 83

    Rating: 4

    #4 GRAND BANKS (ML=8/1)
    #3 IRISH SWEETHEART (ML=20/1)

GRAND BANKS - Donk has an 'uncoupled' entry here. Best to watch out for the longer priced half. IRISH SWEETHEART - Schettino is hoping to get a little more out of this filly by adding blinkers today.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #8 DREAM PASSAGE (ML=2/1), #1 PIQUET (ML=5/2), #9 COSMOISELLE (ML=5/1),

DREAM PASSAGE - Would have to get much more than the oddsmaker's morning line of 2/1 to bet on this horse. PIQUET - Not the proper 'situation' in this race. COSMOISELLE - Not likely that this horse will finish better than she did last out when ending up ninth.

    STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Putting our cash on #4 GRAND BANKS to win. Have to have odds of at least 7/5 or better though

Mahoning Valley Race Course - Race #2 - Post: 1:12pm - Maiden Special - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $21,000 Class Rating: 95

    Rating: 4

    #7 MANY WATERS (ML=3/1)
    #3 MOMENT OF TRIUMPH (ML=7/2)

MANY WATERS - Mojica rode this horse for the first time in the last race and comes right back in today's race. Looking at the past performances on all of these ponies, this is the only one to stalk. Worth a serious look at this one. This filly is in top condition right now. Ran second in the last race and comes back soon. MOMENT OF TRIUMPH - This filly is in good condition. Ended up third on Nov 15th. When this jock and trainer are put together you have to take a look. Houghton and Minnock have been fabulous together. I believe this horse isn't a natural sprinter. Routing is her best game and those last two sprints should have her set for a big run today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 PINCHPENNY (ML=2/1), #5 GO AND WANDER (ML=8/1),

PINCHPENNY - You always think this horse has a shot to be the victor, but she falls short frequently. Hasn't been on the Mahoning Valley Race Course oval in the last three weeks. Cause for some concern. Any speed figure earned on a track listed as good has to be taken with a grain of salt. Could be tough for this horse to beat this field off of that last speed rating. Unlikely to improve enough to run a figure close enough to today's class rating, so put her on the likely underlays list. GO AND WANDER - This mount hasn't had nary a single morning drill after running so well on October 18th.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - MANY WATERS - I love betting on horses that have a big advantage over the rest of the field when it comes to the TM Power Rating. This one fits the bill.

    STRAIGHT WAGERS:

    # 5 MIDTOWNCHARLYBROWN 2/1

    # 6 SOUND THE HORNS 6/1

    # 4 MEASURED 9/2

I think MIDTOWNCHARLYBROWN is a decent choice. Must be used in the exotic bets. Prominent in earnings per start at the distance/surface in this field. Sanchez has a winning percentage of 16 over the last 30 days. SOUND THE HORNS - As of late Rodriguez has been hot which may give the edge to this gelding. Has to be considered versus this group displaying decent figures lately and an average Equibase speed fig of 89 under similar conditions. MEASURED - Could provide positive profits based on solid recent Equibase Speed Figs with an average of 96. The tandem of Wolfsont/Salvaggio has one of the top ROI percentages in this group.

    # 8 BUTTERFLY STRIKE 3/1

    # 1 PHIL IN THE BLANK 6/1

    # 9 LUNAR LIGHT 2/1

BUTTERFLY STRIKE should be supported as the bet in here. This gelding has posted some nice finishes in his last few efforts. Could best this group of horses based on the Equibase Speed Figure - 95 - of his last outing. PHIL IN THE BLANK - The average class fig of 87 makes this entrant hard to beat. Is tough not to examine based on Equibase speed figs which have been formidable - 87 avg - of late. LUNAR LIGHT - With a competitive 89 Equibase Speed Figure last time out, will definitely be a factor in this outing. Has very strong speed figures and has to be considered for a bet in here.

    Preview: Lightning at Bruins

    Gracenote
    Nov 29, 2017

The Boston Bruins continue to suffer through an injury-plagued season but could have two important players back in the lineup when they host the Eastern Conference-leading Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday. Brad Marchand (upper body) and David Backes (colon surgery) are game-time decisions for the contest, while fellow forward Ryan Spooner (groin) also could return for the Bruins.

That bit of good news was spoiled by the announcement that forwards Jake DeBrusk and David Krejci were ruled out for Wednesday’s game with upper-body ailments, but Boston has been plowing forward with four wins in their last five contests. The Bruins did not make it clear whether Anton Khudobin (7-0-2, four straight wins) or Tuukka Rask (3-8-2, four straight losses) would get the start against the Lightning, who snapped out of a mini-slump (1-3-0) by blanking Buffalo 2-0 on Tuesday as the red-hot Andrei Vasilevskiy made 34 saves. Mikhail Sergachev and Daniel Girardi scored in the victory, giving Tampa Bay 16 goals from its defense corps this season, as the team recorded its second shutout after allowing 15 tallies in its previous four games. Nikita Kucherov notched an assist for the Lightning but remained at a team-high 17 goals as his drought reached five contests while captain Steven Stamkos entered Tuesday with a league-leading 36 points but just one in his last five games.

    TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN

ABOUT THE LIGHTNING (17-5-2): Sergachev, who was acquired in a blockbuster offseason trade from Montreal for Jonathan Drouin, leads all NHL rookie defensemen with six goals and is second to New Jersey's Will Butcher with 16 points. Ondrej Palat, who has been key on the team's hard-working second line along with center Brayden Point and Yanni Gourde, notched an assist on Tuesday and has collected six points in his last six games. The 23-year-old Vasilevskiy, who has allowed fewer than three goals in 13 of his last 16 starts, may make his second in two nights after registering his league-leading 16th victory against Buffalo.

ABOUT THE BRUINS (10-8-4): Krejci aggravated his upper-body injury in Boston's 4-2 loss to Edmonton on Sunday, but the team is getting healthier with Marchand and Backes (499 career points) - along with the 21-year-old Anders Bjork (upper body) - close to returning. David Pastrnak leads the club in goals (12) and points (20) after scoring in two straight contests while Marchand still is second with 15 points despite missing eight games. Defenseman Torey Krug has recorded 11 points (two goals) in his last 10 games while 19-year-old rookie blue-liner Charlie McAvoy has notched 11 in his first 22 regular-season contests.

    OVERTIME

    1. The Bruins have won four of the last five meetings but dropped a 6-3 home decision to the Lightning last season.

    2. Tampa Bay D Jake Dotchin is expected to miss his fifth straight game with an undisclosed injury.

    3. Boston C Patrice Bergeron is winning 63.4 percent of faceoffs in short-handed situations, ranking him among the league’s best.

    PREDICTION: Bruins 4, Lightning 3

    Preview: Senators at Canadiens

    Gracenote
    Nov 28, 2017

The return of their standout goaltender has provided quite the boost for the Montreal Canadiens, who have won two in a row following a five-game losing streak. After cooling off the league's hottest team, Montreal goes for its third consecutive victory when they host the reeling Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night.

Carey Price has been spectacular since returning from a lengthy injury absence, turning aside 73 of 74 shots in two starts. "I think we're still relying on Carey too much. We've got to be playing better in front of him. But, we know he's got our back," said teammate Andrew Shaw after the Canadiens halted Columbus' six-game winning streak. "He's healthy. He's hungry. He's excited. He's been our best player, for sure, the last two games." Facing Price and a revitalized Montreal squad couldn't come at a worse time for punchless Ottawa, which is kicking off a seven-game road trip and has scored a total of eight goals during a six-game skid (0-5-1). The Senators have dropped four in a row against Montreal, including an 8-3 drubbing in Ottawa on Oct. 30 in the only meeting this season.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, Sportsnet, RDS

ABOUT THE SENATORS (8-8-6): Matt Duchene, acquired from Colorado earlier this month to bolster the offense, finally scored his first point and first goal in his eighth game with Ottawa, but several of his new teammates are mired in deep slumps. Bobby Ryan has yet to score this season and star defenseman Erik Karlsson, who has only one goal, has failed to record a point during the six-game skid. Derick Brassard got off to a fast start with six goals in the first eight games but has been blanked over the past 14 games.

ABOUT THE CANADIENS (10-12-3): Captain Max Pacioretty, who has scored at least 30 goals in each of the past four seasons, has notched only one assist over the past seven games and was demoted from the No. 1 line. Pacioretty also was not working with the top power-play unit at Tuesday's practice -- he has one goal and three assists on the man advantage this season and failed to score with the extra skater in the last 25 games in 2016-17. "We want our special teams to be better,” coach Claude Julien explained.

    OVERTIME

    1. Price is 20-8-4 with a 2.37 goals-against average versus the Senators.

    2. Ottawa has scored once in its last 23 power-play chances.

    3. Canadiens D Shea Weber (lower body), who has missed four straight games, did not practice Tuesday.

    PREDICTION: Canadiens 4, Senators 2

    Preview: Ducks at Blues

    Gracenote
    Nov 28, 2017

The St. Louis Blues have recorded the most wins in the NHL, built primarily on their success against the Western Conference and the Pacific Division (6-1-1). The Central Division-leading Blues have a chance to pad those numbers and continue their hot start to the season when they host the skidding Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night.

St. Louis has won four of five overall and four straight at home against Anaheim, but coach Mike Yeo is not looking past the slumping Ducks, who were crushed 7-3 at Chicago on Monday night. "They had a tough game last game, but even still, they're in your face a lot," Yeo said. "We're going to need guys that are able to push through that." Anaheim has dropped four in a row for the second time this month as it makes the third stop on a six-game road trip that will conclude with visits to Columbus, Nashville and Pacific-leading Vegas. Newly minted Hall of Famer Paul Kariya, who played his first nine seasons with the Ducks and final three with the Blues, will be honored prior to Wednesday's game.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, Prime Ticket (Anaheim), FSN Midwest (St. Louis), NHL.TV

ABOUT THE DUCKS (10-10-4): Forward Chris Wagner, who netted a career-high six goals last season, had his first two-goal and first three-point game in the rout at Chicago, but he was not in a celebratory mood after Anaheim fell into another quick first-period deficit. “We just need to start on time and we’ve talked about it," Wagner said. "We can keep talking about until the cows come home but it doesn’t matter unless we do it.” Jakob Silfverberg had a goal and an assist to halt a six-game point drought.

ABOUT THE BLUES (17-6-1): Patrik Bergland, who established a career high with 23 goals in 2016-17 before undergoing shoulder surgery in the offseason, appears poised to make his season debut against Anaheim. Berglund was paired on a line with Dmitrij Jaskin and Sammy Blais -- who each scored Saturday -- for the second straight practice Tuesday. "He looked good so we'll re-evaluate in the morning, but we feel pretty confident that he's ready to go here," Yeo said. "We'll make the decision tomorrow."

    OVERTIME

    1. Blues G Jake Allen is 5-0-0 with a 1.40 goals-against average at home versus Anaheim.

    2. Ducks G John Gibson has allowed 11 goals in his last three starts and is 1-2-1 against St. Louis.

    3. Blues F Jaden Schwartz scored twice Saturday against Minnesota, giving him five goals and 15 points in his last 10 games.

    PREDICTION: Blues 4, Ducks 1

    Preview: Jets at Avalanche

    Gracenote
    Nov 28, 2017

The Colorado Avalanche's early-season good vibrations have been offset with losses in six of their last nine contests, in addition to the suspension of Gabriel Landeskog. The Avalanche aim to persevere as the captain serves the first of a four-game ban on Wednesday when the Winnipeg Jets pay a visit to the Rocky Mountains.

Colorado has been dominant at home this season, but fell for just the second time in regulation - the first happened in Sweden when it was deemed the home team - with a 3-2 setback to Calgary on Saturday. Nathan MacKinnon set up Mikko Rantanen's power-play goal in the second period versus the Flames, giving the former top overall pick 13 assists and 17 points at home. The high-flying Jets brought their offense home from a four-game road trip and posted their seventh win in nine outings with a resounding 7-2 rout of Minnesota on Monday. Each member of the top line scored a goal and set up two others, with Kyle Connor collecting seven points (three goals, four assists) in his last six games while Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler increased their total to 20 points in the past 15.

TV: 9:30 p.m. ET, TSN3 (Winnipeg), Altitude (Colorado)

ABOUT THE JETS (15-6-3): Connor Hellbuyck has yielded two or fewer goals in six of his last seven outings, posting a 5-2-0 mark in that stretch and improving his season record to 13-2-2. The 24-year-old permitted just one goal in each outing last season against the Avalanche, turning aside 49 of 51 shots in the process. Patrik Laine, who collected five points (two goals, three assists) versus Colorado last season, recorded 11 points in as many games before being held off the scoresheet in each of the last two outings.
ABOUT THE AVALANCHE (11-9-2): Rantanen has scored six of his seven goals and 11 of his 20 points with the man advantage this season. The 2015 first-round selection had - surprise, surprise - a power-play goal in Colorado's 3-2 overtime win over Winnipeg on Nov. 11, 2016, and added an assist with the man advantage in a 4-1 setback to the Jets on Dec. 18. With Landeskog suspended after cross-checking Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk, Sven Andrighetto likely will elevate to the top line to join MacKinnon and Rantanen.

    OVERTIME

    1. Colorado G Semyon Varlamov likely will make his return from a four-game absence due to illness versus Winnipeg, against which he split a pair of decisions despite turning aside 36 of 39 shots.

    2. Jets RW Joel Armia has seven points (two goals, five assists) in his past eight games.

    3. The Avalanche are 11-for-39 on the power play at home this season.

    PREDICTION: Jets 4, Avalanche 2
