Stanton Trade Sweepstakes Clogging up Free Agency

Anyone else have about enough of this soap opera?

It has gone on far too long...

Giants and StL both made offers...

    Supposedly Boston too...

But they are waiting to see if the team Mike wants to play for?....the Dodgers will pony up the prospects?

It has completely clogged the market on free agents.

Either the Fish want to trade him?

    or

    They don't.

The Giants and Cards need to move on..

I figured he'd end up with the Dodgers or Giants.

Wish he'd come to Philly. Probably hit 80 home runs in our small stadium.

    Stanton trade development:

Source says Marlins likely would accept offer of Panik, Beede and Shaw for Stanton alone -- if Giants committed to paying at least $250 million of the $295 million left on Stanton’s contract.

Giants OFs hit 38 HRs last season ... Stanton hit 33 after the All-Star Break

Giants also have to take all of Gordon's contract?

For Stanton to move from the Marlins to a California team, there would be a major state tax increase.

Some agents estimate it could cost Stanton in range of $25m-$27.5m over course of his 10-year deal.

Marlins/trade partner could endeavor to offset this.

A Stanton trade isn't close to completion, despite the frenzy resulting from weekend meetings with the Giants and Cardinals.

It's a complicated transaction with a lot of moving pieces, and it appears it's going to drag on a while. Nothing imminent.

Yankees and Marlins have agreed to a deal that would send Stanton to New York, pending a physical.

    Love it
