    #4 GREAT STUFF

Well folks ... before 1896, this race was called the Toboggan Slide because it took place on the downhill Eclipse course at Morris Park Racecourse in the Bronx. Here in the 128th running of The Toboggan, #2 TAKAFUL, takes as class drop (-13) has excellent early speed abilities to compliment for this sprint at today's "specialized distance" of 7.0 furlongs on the dirt, is the pace profile leader, and has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in three of his last four outings, including "POWER RUN WINS" in both his 2nd and 4th races back, which is indicative of a "Bounce Pattern" folks ... and the BoUnCe will be UP/POSITIVE this afternoon if this pattern continues. #3 VULCAN'S FORGE, a 4-1 shot, has turned in "POWER RUN PERFORMANCES" in five straight, hitting the board in four of those outings, with a pair of "POWER RUN WINS" found in both his last start, as well as in his 5th race back.

    RECOMMENDED CHOICES
    The Walker Group Picks

    # 6 K ONE KOBRA 15/1

    # 7 ERIK THE RED 3/1

    # 3 BOB'S GONE WILD 4/1

K ONE KOBRA is my choice and could score at a price in here. Could go off at a decent number and has some positive attributes going for him. ERIK THE RED - In this field, this one is in the upper half of earnings per start in dirt route events. Has been running in the most competitive company of the field recently. BOB'S GONE WILD - Handler has strong win rate (24 percent) at this distance and surface. Ran a sharp last race.

    Fair Grounds - Race #7 - Post: 4:03pm - Maiden Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $18,000 Class Rating: 73

    Rating: 4

    #12 LA FLOR (ML=5/1)
    #15 HENRY'S HONEY (ML=9/2)
    #6 SHACKIRA SHACKIRA (ML=8/1)

LA FLOR - Have to give this filly a good chance. Ran a sharp contest last time around the track within the last month or so. This rider and trainer have a beneficial ROI when they unite. I like horses that return to a similar class level after dropping at least 5 class rating points like this one did last time out. I believe she'll be competitive at this class. HENRY'S HONEY - Jockey hops up atop after getting to know the horse by riding last time out. That's always a helpful angle. Took a class drop last out at Fair Grounds. Hartman keeps her at the same level in this field. I think that's a good move. Finished out of the money last out at Fair Grounds, but was within 5 lengths of the winner. Opening at 9/2 makes me think she's got a chance. SHACKIRA SHACKIRA - This animal didn't run well on a sloppy track in her last start at Fair Grounds. You probably want to discount that effort. Filly will add blinkers to the equipment package today. That often leads to an improved performance.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #1 DOT NOTATION (ML=7/2), #2 SPLASHING (ML=9/2), #13 MISS MERCKEN (ML=9/2),

DOT NOTATION - This filly hasn't been showing me anything positive in the last two efforts. SPLASHING - Tough to bet on any horse to turn things around if there is no reward to taking the chance. Hard to bet this pony the way she ran inconsistently last time out. MISS MERCKEN - Trying to beat this horse this time at the price of 9/2.

    STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Bet on #12 LA FLOR to win if you can get at least 9/5 odds

    EXACTA WAGERS:

Gulfstream Park - Race #10 - Post: 4:14pm - Stakes - 5.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $175,000 Class Rating: 115 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint S.

    Rating: 3

    #6 RAINBOW HEIR (ML=6/1)
    #7 RICHARD'S BOY (ML=7/2)
    #2 CONQUEST ENFORCER (ML=12/1)

RAINBOW HEIR - Last two speed figures (116, 124) were strong. Anything close to that in this event and this one could win easily. Comparing how the horses in this field have fared under similar conditions, I see this one has the highest speed fig for the dist/surf. RICHARD'S BOY - Miller is strong in turf sprints. This horse should have no allowances if he doesn't win. I believe that this shorter trip should help this gelding. In this race here, this horse has clearly shown signs that he likes the grass. His speed figures are the highest in the field for this dist/surf. Miller brings him right back. I advise you stick with this strong gelding. CONQUEST ENFORCER - Have to make this horse a strong challenger; he comes off a nice effort on Dec 30th. This jock and trainer have a lucrative return on investment when they unite. A little change in scenery has got to do this horse well. Reading the PPs, it seems like he likes to visit the winner's circle at different racing venues. He has the highest (EPS) earnings per start. Take a good look at this animal.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 PAY ANY PRICE (ML=3/1), #9 TOMBELAINE (ML=9/2),

PAY ANY PRICE - This steed hasn't been on the track since Dec 30th. Not even any morning blow outs. It appears like too much early zip is signed up in this event. This speedball will probably get roasted up front. TOMBELAINE - Can't wager on this less than sharp equine in today's sprint of 5 furlongs. Hasn't even finished in the money in a short distance affair lately. The finish of seventh in the last race shows me that this horse may be going out of form. Unlikely that the speed rating he notched on Nov 25th will hold up in this affair.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: The Turf Man - RICHARD'S BOY - This gelding fits nicely here against these horses. His average class figure is tops in the field.

    # 8 REFUNDED 6/1

    # 3 FAMILY CREST 3/1

    # 2 SIGHT LINE 10/1

I lean toward REFUNDED here. Has respectable Equibase Class Figures relative to this group of horses in this race - worth a look. Is a strong contender based on figures put up as of late under today's conditions. FAMILY CREST - Shows evidence of the look of a profitable play, averaging a solid 64 speed rating which is one of the most respectable in this field. Guerrero has one of the top winning percentages in this group of animals with entries running at this distance and surface. SIGHT LINE - He has been racing strongly recently while recording strong Speed Figures. This conditioner has the best return on investment in this group with entries racing at this distance and surface.
