Stanford +4.5 Utah is certainly struggling. They lost two straight to drop back to under .500 at 5-6 and are sitting in a three way tie for seventh place in the conference. This game will come down to the wire. Stanford has won two straight and have risen all the way up to a tie for fourth place at 7-4 in the conference and looks good on both sides of the ball. They just defeated Oregon by 35 points in their last game by making 35 of 56 from the field and 12 of 20 from the three point line. They also made 14 of 17 from the free throw line in a fantastic all around shooting effort. I truly believe the wrong team is favored but will not complain. Utah has too many problems which they are in the middle of trying to figure out before the conference tournament begins. For instance, their top scorer did not reach double digits in scoring in their last game. When the entire team is shooting rocks and underperforming in all areas, who has the confidence and talent to step up? Maybe one or two in offense but theirs still huge problems for this team. If they squeak out a win, it will be a very crucial last shot.

Take Vancouver/Tampa Bay GAME TOTAL OVER as my 7-Unit NHL Smash for Thursday night. This pick falls into one of my top NHL systems and I have see a 5-3 type of game here tonight with the way these two teams have played each other in the past. The O/U is 5-1 for the Canucks in their last 6 games when their opponents allows 5 or more goals in their previous game and the O/U is 11-4 for the Canucks in their last 15 games when playing with 1 day of rest. The O/U is 16-5-3 in the last 24 games played between these two teams and the O/U is 5-1 for the Lightning in their last 6 games against a Pacific Division opponent. The O/U is 28-11-4 for the Lighting in their last 43 home games after a road trip of 7 or more days and the O/U is 11-4 for the Lightning in their last 15 home games. The Canucks have one of the better power-plays in the NHL on the road converting at 24.4% this season and one of the worst penalty-kills on the road with opponents converting at 24.4% against them. Opponents have converted at 29.4% on the power-play in their last 5 games against the Lightning and the average total score is 7 in the Lightnings last 5 games overall. The Blazers should be thrilled that they get this game at home after playing their last 3 games on the road were they went 0-3. Blazers have won 8-Straight home games and tonight I see them taking this game against the Hornets. The Hornets are 0-5 ATS against Western Conference opponents and the Blazers are 8-1 ATS at home against Charlotte. Also, throw in that the favorite in this series is 5-1 ATS and the home team has covered 4 out of 5 meetings.

Tonight in St. Louis, Missouri at the Scottrade Center the Blues should have no problem winning this game at home. The Blues are coming off a horrible home loss to the Minnesota Wild losing 6-2 and before that loss the Blues 'D' was pretty good. Blues last 6 games 5 of them have gone UNDER the total and the Blues last 9 games are 6-3. In those 6 wins the Blues held their opponents to 4 goals and tonight I see the Colorado Avs having a tough night putting the puck in the net. Colorado last 5 games against Central division opponents 4 of them have gone UNDER and the St. Louis Blues are 3-14 O/U in their last 17 home games

The New York Knicks lost their biggest offensive threat to a season ending injury last game. They will likely struggle to score without him on the floor. They face a Toronto Raptors squad that's quietly posted the 3rd best defense per possession rate in the league this year. The Raptors like to slow the game down when they're bigger favorites like this as they've went below the total nealy 70% of the time the last 25 times they've been favored in a game by 6 points or more.
