Usually when you watch UFC, you're tuning in for the sport of it, the competition, the fight, the battle. But you have to be prepared for anything when a match involves Connor McGregor. Anything is in play when he steps in the octagon for UFC 264.

This whole week the talk has been about McGregor returning to the octagon, and his antics - or lack thereof at times - leading up to the featured match against Dustin Poirier.

News flash: McGregor is 1-2 in the UFC since the start of 2017, a span that also includes an unsuccessful attempt by the Irishman in his crossover into boxing, where he was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather Jr.

At this point, McGregor has lost his dominant edge, but kept his WWE-like persona enough so, that Dana White doesn't mind making millions of dollars off the once unbeatable champ.

Tonight marks the third match of their trilogy, and Poirier is the one who seems to be at the top of his sport right now - not McGregor. Poirier is the better fighter; McGregor is the bigger story.

Well we're not betting on stories, we want to invest in the winner. While McGregor has been desperate all week, when attempting to get inside Poirier's head, it's been the latter who has seemed more focused at the task at hand.

Consider this: when Poirier wins this match, he'll likely solidify the moniker "baddest man in the sport."

McGregor's time has come and gone. Poirier knows what he needs to do, as he did on Jan. 23 of this year in a second-round TKO of McGregor.

Lay the cheap number with Poirer.

    3* POIRIER

Friday afternoon saw St. Louis and Chicago make their way Over the total and I feel Saturday night will also see the Cardinals and the Cubs make their way Over the posted price.

3 of St. Louis' last 4 played this week - all of them on the road - have eclipsed the posted price, while the Chicago Over streak is just a little more pronounced, as Friday's Over for the Cubs marked their 5th straight game in the Over column!

Series numbers between these division rivals show 3 of the past 4 playing Over the total and 4 of the 7 on the season now playing Over the posted price.

Kwang-hyun Kim has seen his last pair of starts play Over the total and for the season the Over is 8-3-3 when he takes the mound.

Zach Davies has seen his last pair of starts at Wrigley Field and 3 of his last 4 overall at the Friendly Confines play Over the posted price, so why not look for another Over here on the North Side on Saturday night?

Saturday's free play is for former Houston hurler Gerrit Cole to regain his form just in time to best his former club as the Yankees and Astros meet for the second time this weekend.

New York continued their uptick before the break with the 4-0 shutout last night, as the Yankees have now claimed wins in 4 of their last 5 games.

The Yankees have also won 3 of the 4 season series meetings versus the Astros this season. Included is a 7-3 win over today's starter Zack Greinke back on May 4th.

Cole is 0-1 for his last 3 starts and has allowed 10 runs on 14 hits over his last 8-plus innings worked. That's the bad news. The good news is the Astros lineup is wracked with injuries as we head to the break.

Look for New York to make it 2-for-2 at Minute Maid Park this Saturday night.

    1* N.Y YANKEES
