    MLB | Angels vs Rangers
Play on: Angels -1½ +100 at William Hill

Jack's Free Pick Wednesday: Los Angeles Angels -1.5 (+100)
The Los Angeles Angels broke out at the plate last night in a 11-3 victory over the Texas Rangers. They should stay hot at the plate tonight and win this game by two runs or more due to their big advantage on the mound.
Shohei Ohtani is a MVP favorite in the American League for what he has done at the plate and on the mound. Ohtani is 5-1 with a 3.04 ERA and 1.125 WHIP in 15 starts this season. He has been dynamite of late, going 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA and 0.700 WHIP in his last three starts. He has won both of his starts against the Rangers this season by 4 and 5 runs.
Kolby Allard is just 1-9 with a 5.98 ERA in 11 starts for Texas this season. That includes 0-3 with a 13.14 ERA and 2.028 WHIP in his last three starts, allowing 18 earned runs in 12 1/3 innings. Allard has posted a 5.40 ERA in two career starts against the Angels as well.
The Rangers are 0-10 in Allard's last 10 starts with a total of 8 to 8.5 and losing by 3.7 runs per game in this spot. Texas is 0-14 in its last 14 games vs. a starting pitcher with better than a 70% winning percentage. The Rangers are losing by 3.2 runs per game in this spot. Bet the Angels on the Run Line Wednesday.

    MLB | Braves vs Cardinals
Play on: Braves -103 at pinnacle

    Dave's Wednesday Free Play:
    1* on Atlanta Braves -103
The Key: The St. Louis Cardinals just added Jon Lester and JA Happ prior to the deadline, two of the worst starters in baseball. They went bargain shopping and clearly aren't trying to win with those moves. Lester was rocked yesterday in a 6-1 loss to the Braves, and Happ will get rocked today. Happ is 5-6 with a 6.77 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in 19 starts this year, including 0-2 with an 11.25 ERA and 2.13 WHIP in his last 3 outings. Drew Smyly has been solid for the Braves at 7-3 with a 4.40 ERA in 18 starts, including 5-2 with a 4.20 ERA in 11 road starts. Smyly is 1-0 with a 1.86 ERA in 2 lifetime starts against the Cardinals. He pitched 5 2/3 shutout innings on June 20th in his lone start against them in 2021. Take Atlanta.

    MLB | Cubs vs Rockies
Play on: Rockies -163 at SC Consensus

My free play is on the Col Rockies at 8:40 ET.
The Chicago Cubs won the NL Central last season, making the postseason for the FIFTH time in six years (won the World Series in 2016). The Cubs were NINE games over .500 (42-33) and tied for first in the NL Central back on June 24 but then lost 11 in a row. Chicago 'righted the ship' a little after that losing skid but after losing the opener of this three-game series 13-6 at Colorado last night, the Cubs are 51-57 and 13 games back of the Brewers in the NL Central, as well as 10 1/2-games back of the Padres (the NL's second wild card team). The Rockies were never expected to contend in the NL West this season up against the Dodgers and Padres. That's been the case plus the fact that the Giants have come out of nowhere to not only lead the division but also own MLB's best record, means the Rockies have been 'looking ahead' to 2022 since Memorial Day.
The starting pitchers for Game 2 of the series are Alec Mills (4-4, 4.55 ERA) for Chicago and Jon Gray (7-6, 3.62 ERA) for Colorado. Mills is in his fifth season, having made 51 appearances, including 26 starts (he's 10-10 with a 4.29 ERA). He has made 21 appearances (nine starts) in 2021. Mills began the season in the bullpen but has been a consistent starter since June 15. Since rejoining the rotation, Mills has allowed three ERs or less in all eight of his outings but the Cubs are just 2-6 in those games. Gray began with Colorado back in 2015 and had double digit wins in four straight seasons from 2016-2019. However, his best season was 2019, when he went a modest 11-8 with a 3.84 ERA. He made only eight starts in 2020, going 2-4 (team was 3-5) with a career-high 6.69 ERA.It should be noted that Gray has pitched well since June 25, when he returned from the injured list after recovering from forearm tightness. He has gone 3-0 with a 2.61 ERA in that span.
The Cubs are a poor 20-36 on the road (it's NOT encouraging that Mills owns a 5.93 road ERA) and while the Rockies are an 'ugly' 13-40 on the road, they are 34-20 here at Coors Field, where Gray is 5-2 with a 3.14 ERA in 10 home starts this season. Cubs lose! Cubs lose!
    Good luck...Larry

    MLB | SFO vs ARI
    Play on: UNDER 9 -115

    1* MLB - Giants/Dbacks FREE PICK on UNDER 9
Wednesday's Free MLB Pick is on the UNDER 9 between the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants. These two combined for just 4 runs with a total of 9.5 on Tuesday. I see a similar type of low scoring game today. Giants have Kevin Gausman on the mound, who has a 2.35 ERA in 21 starts and a 1.55 ERA in 12 road starts. Zac Gallen doesn't have those kind of numbers, but is coming off a great outing at home against the Dodgers, where he held LA to just 2 runs over 6 innings. Bet the UNDER 9!

    MLB | Astros vs Dodgers
Play on: Dodgers -215 at linepros

Wednesday MLB Free play. My selection is on Los Angeles over Houston at 9:40 pm et on Wednesday.
We're being asked to lay a lot of chalk with the Dodgers in Max Scherzer's team debut on Wednesday night but I believe the price is warranted.
Scherzer will of course be happy to pitch for a team that should give him more consistent run support. Despite Mad Max posting a stellar 2.76 and 0.89 WHIP in 19 starts this season, the Nationals only managed to win 11 of those games. While the Dodgers were shut out in last night's loss that's certainly not the norm as they had plated 21 runs over their two previous games and average five runs per game at home this season.
The Los Angeles bullpen has posted a 3.44 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 18 saves converted and nine blown at home this season - again a more positive situation than what Scherzer was used to in Washington.
Jake Odorizzi will counter for Houston. He's labored through his last few starts, allowing 10 earned runs over his last three outings, covering a span of 13 1/3 innings. Interestingly, he's topped out at four strikeouts or less in five of his last six starts.
The Astros bullpen checks in sporting a 4.21 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with only 13 saves converted and 11 blown on the road this season. Take Los Angeles.
