    MLB | Mets vs Phillies
Play on: Mets +101 at BetVegas

I successfully backed the Phillies when Ranger Suarez made his first start. Here's what I said, prior to that 7-5 win on 8/2: "I really like what I saw from the Phillies yesterday. In a game they needed to win, they got solid pitching and scored a ton. They'd finish with 20 hits and 15 runs. I expect them to carry the positive momentum into Monday's series opener against the Nationals. The Phillies' starting rotation has changed, due to the recent acquisitions. Gibson delivered in his debut yesterday and now we'll see Ranger Suarez get his turn in the rotation. He'd previously been working out of the bullpen, where he's got outstanding (1.12 ERA, 0.87 WHIP in 27 appearances) numbers, but now becomes a starter, thanks to Kennedy moving into his spot in the bullpen. As Joe Girardi noted: "We've always envisioned Ranger as a starter ... Ranger's done a really good job in whatever role we've put him in. Of course, Suarez won't go too deep, with this being his first start of the season. That's why getting 6 2/3 innings out of Gibson was important yesterday. The bullpen wasn't too taxed. We saw what the Padres did in what was essentially a bullpen day yesterday. Knehr may have only gone three innings but he also only allowed two hits. Josiah Gray is expected to go for Washington and he's got an ugly 6.75 ERA in two appearances. In other words, Suarez should get some solid support. The Phillies are desperately trying to catch the Mets while the Nats are now essentially playing out the string. Philadelphia draws first blood ... "
Suarez would deliver three shutout innings. Things set up differently this time though. This time, Suarez will face a contender. This time, he's less likely to get seven runs of support. Megill, who will likely outlast Suarez, quietly has a very solid 2.68 ERA and 1.091 WHIP through eight starts. The Mets are 6-2 when he's on the mound. Don't be surprised when they bounce back and take this one. Consider NY.

    MLB | Mets vs Phillies
Play on: Phillies -102 at Caesars

1* Free Sharp Play on Phillies -102
The Phillies (-102) are worth a look as a slim home favorite against the Mets in Saturday's MLB action. Big series here between New York and Philadelphia, as the Phillies are clinging to a 0.5-game lead in the NL East over the Mets and are just 1 ahead of the Braves. This is simply too good a price to pass up on Philly with the direction these two teams are headed. Mets are fading, as they have lost 7 of their last 9, while the Phillies come in having won 6 in a row. Play Philadelphia -102!

Rocketman Sports FREE MLB play Saturday 8-7-21
Texas @ Oakland (4:05 PM EST)
    Play On: Oakland -1.5 -121 (Anderson/Irvin) Listed
The Texas Rangers take on the A's in Oakland on Saturday night. Texas is 39-71 SU overall this year while Oakland comes in with a 62-48 SU overall record on the season. Drew Anderson will be making his first start of the season for Texas. Cole Irvin has pitched well but has lacked run support. He has a 3.50 ERA overall this year, 3.84 ERA at home this season and a 2.60 ERA his last 3 starts. Texas is scoring only 2.6 runs per game past 7 games overall where they have a .199 team batting average. Oakland is allowing only 2.4 runs per game past 7 games overall. Texas is 13-41 on the road this year. Texas is 18-53 last 3 years on the road when the total is 8 to 8 1/2. We'll recommend a small play on Oakland on the Run Line today! Thanks and good luck, Rocky

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Rays/Orioles OVER 10
The Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays just combined for 16 runs yesterday. It should be more of the same today at hitter-friendly Camden Yards. Two starters that don't go very deep into games go for both teams. Shane McClanahan averages just 4.8 innings per start for the Rays, while Spenser Watkins averages just 5.0 innings per start for the Orioles. The OVER is 16-6-2 in Rays last 24 games as road favorites. The OVER is 7-2-1 in the last 10 meetings. The OVER is 23-8 in Orioles last 31 home games. Give me the OVER.

MLB | Red Sox vs Blue Jays
Play on: Blue Jays -139 at pinnacle

Saturday MLB Free play. My selection is on Toronto over Boston at 7:05 pm et on Saturday.
NOTE: This play is on Game 2 of Saturday's day-night double-header in Toronto.
The Blue Jays are rolling right now and I like them to keep it going in the back half of Saturday's double-header against the rival Red Sox.
Tanner Houck is expected to get another spot start for Boston here after pitching well in his four previous outings this season. However, I think he could be in trouble here as he faces the Blue Jays for the second time in the last couple of weeks. Houck averages less than five innings per start which means an already overworked Red Sox bullpen should see plenty of action again on Saturday night. Boston's relief corps entered last night's action sporting a collective 3.80 ERA and 1.38 WHIP on the road this season.
Newly-acquired Jose Berrios was terrific in his first start with the Blue Jays and I expect more of the same here as he starts on a full five days' rest, noting that he owns a 3.00 ERA and 1.03 WHIP at home this season (I realize most of those starts came in Minnesota). Berrios has been at his absolute best in nighttime starts, recording a 2.34 ERA and 0.83 WHIP.
The Blue Jays bullpen hasn't exactly been elite this season - far from it, in fact - but the good news is Berrios has regularly been able to pitch into the seventh inning or fu

    MLB | Royals vs Cardinals
Play on: Cardinals -157 at linepros

My free play is on the StL Cardinals at 7:15 ET.
The KC Royals lost 104 games in 2018, 103 in 2019 and then went 26-34 in 2020. The Royals opened 16-9 in 2021 but then lost 11 straight. Right before the All Star break, they suffered a 12-game road losing streak and will take the field tonight in St Louis (after a 4-2 Friday loss) at 47-61, 16 games back of the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. The St Louis Cardinals fought through a major COVID outbreak to make the 2020 expanded playoff field, the team's SEVENTH postseason over a 10-year span (won a World Series title in 2011). They were expected to be a division and/or wild card contender in 2021 but at the moment, that prospect is NOT looking very promising. St Louis was eight games over .500 on May 29 (30-22) but after last night's win, finds itself just 54-55 (24-33 after its 30-22 start). The Cards are 11 1/2-games behind the Brewers in the AL Central plus SEVEN games behind the Padres, who currently own the NL's No. 2 wild card spot.
Taking the mound tonight will be KC's Brad Keller (7-10, 5.64 ERA), opposed by the Cards' Kwang Hyun Kim (6-6, 3.31 ERA). Keller in his fourth season, having made 100 appearances (79 starts) with a career mark of 28-33 (4.00 ERA / 1.38 WHIP). Keller was 6-4 after his first 12 starts (KC was 8-4) but he's 1-6 over his last 10 starts, with the Royals losing NINE of the 10. Kim opened 1-0 with a 2.74 ERA in his first five starts of 2021, as the Cards went 5-0! However, over his next seven starts, he was 0-5 and the team 1-6. He then went on a superb five-start run in which he allowed just three ERs over 30 innings (0.90), winning ALL five of those starts. However, "out of nowhere," he allowed four HRs (five ERs) over just 2.2 innings in his last outing at Cleveland to take a 7-2 loss on July 28.
Keller's 2021 numbers do NOT match well with his career numbers, as his ERA is 5.64 (it's 4.00 for his career), his WHIP is 1.68 (1.38 for his career) and his BAA is .304 (.258 for his career). Considering he's pitching for a team that is just 19-36 on the road, that hardly inspires any confidence for a KC win. Kim's off an 'ugly' outing but I expect a bounce-back here, as he faces the Cards' in-state rival KC for the first time.
    Good luck...Larry

    MLB | Nationals vs Braves
Play on: Braves -1½ -115 at pinnacle

    Dave's Saturday Free Play:
    1* on Atlanta Braves -1.5 (-115)
The Key: The Atlanta Braves have won 4 straight and 5 of their last 6 coming in while outscoring opponents 38-16 in those 6 contests. Now they take on the struggling Washington Nationals, who have lost 5 straight and just traded away several of their best players to show that they are packing it in. Josiah Gray is only averaging 4.5 innings per start this year and can't be expected to go very deep for the Nationals. Charlie Morton is 10-4 with a 3.61 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 22 starts for the Braves this year. The Braves are 8-2 in the last 10 matchups. Take Atlanta on the Run Line.

    MLB | Marlins vs Rockies
Play on: Rockies -146 at SC Consensus

FREE PICK - Colorado Rockies -146
    RATING: 30*
    ROT#: 910
I will gladly take my chances with the Rockies as a -146 home favorite against the Marlins on Saturday. Colorado crushed the Marlins 14-2 in Friday's opener and this just has the feeling of a series the Miami isn't all that interested in after playing their previous 7 vs the Yankees and Mets at home. Not to mention the Rockies are a much different team at home. Colorado is 35-21 at Coors Field, where they average 5.6 runs/game and are hitting .280 as a team.
Austin Gomber will also be on the mound for the Rockies and he's one of the few who have figured out how to have success pitching at Coors Field. He's 4-1 with a 1.98 ERA and 0.853 WHIP in 7 home starts. Miami's Jesus Luzardo is making his first ever start at Coors Field, which typically doesn't go to well. Give me the Rockies -146!

    MLB | Diamondbacks vs Padres
Play on: Diamondbacks +260 at SC Consensus

Padres starter Darvish has lost four straight decisions and has a 7.66 ERA over his past five starts. He has given up nine home runs in those five starts. In his current form he is fade material . DARVISH is 4-10 against the money line vs. an NL team with a batting average of .250 or worse in the second half of the season over the last 3 seasons. (Team's Record)
Even the lowly DBacks have the ability to win from time to time , so plug your noses and pull the tigger here on a value line situation. Note: the Padres have lost five of their last seven tilts as hosts against teams with two of the worst road records in the majors (Colorado and Arizona).
MLB underdogs with a money line of +100 or higher (ARIZONA) - with a starting pitcher like Widener whose ERA is 4.70 to 5.20 on the season (NL), with a tired bullpen - throwing 9+ innings over the last 2 games are 59-42 L/5 seasons for a 59% conversion rate.
Play on the Dbacks to win
