    Wayne Root Free MLB Game

    Colorado Rockies vs Texas Rangers

    Colorado Rockies -128 (5Dimes)

Take Colorado Rockies It’s all about pitching today! The Colorado Rockies are 6-0 in Kyle Freeland’s last six starts during game three of a series. Kyle Freeland has allowed three earned runs or less in 11 out of his last 12 starts. He has allowed three earned runs or less in six straight road starts. Texas has been poor on offense this season. They are bottom three in the league in runs, hits, RBI’s, batting average, OBP, SLG, and OPS. Texas will struggle to score on Freeland. The Rockies are 5-0 in Freeland’s last five starts over-all and Colorado will win this game. Speaking of winning, Wayne has gone 6-3 his last 9 games. But there are two special plays tonight. His Gold Standard; the Boston vs Tampa game and the Root Reserve. Get them both and go 2-0.

    Dave's Wednesday Free Play:
    1* on New York Yankees -1.5 (-162)
The Key: The New York Yankees had won 13 straight games. They have since lost 4 in a row and will be hungry for a win, especially to avoid the sweep after dropping the first 2 games of this series to the Angels as big favorites. I'll back the Yankees on the Run Line today with ace Gerrit Cole taking the ball. He is 13-6 with a 2.80 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 24 starts this year, and 3-0 with a 0.51 ERA in his last 3 outings. Cole is 7-1 with a 2.60 ERA in 10 lifetime starts against the Angels. He has yielded one earned run or fewer in 4 consecutive starts against Los Angeles. His teams are 7-0 in his last 7 starts against the Angels with 6 wins by 2 runs or more. Take New York on the Run Line.

The Yankees should win big here. Off four straight losses, they're going to be all business at the plate. With Cole, it'll be the same on the mound. Over his past three starts, Cole has a 0.51 ERA and a 0.962 WHIP. All three were Yankee wins. He'll be opposed by a pitcher (Naughton) making his first career start. The Yankees have won Cole's last two starts by scores of 7-1 and 8-2. They should win this one comfortably, too. Consider NY on the run-line.

    1* MLB - Yankees/Angels FREE PICK on Yankees -1.5, -150
Wednesday's Free MLB Pick is on the New York Yankees on the -1.5 run line at -150 as they visit the Los Angeles Angels. I know this is a lot of juice to lay on the run line, but I'm confident the Yankees will win here by 2 or more runs. New York has Gerrit Cole on the mound, who has been outstanding all season and even better of late. Cole has a 2.80 ERA in 24 starts and a 0.51 ERA in his last 3 outings. As for the Angels, they are sending out Packy Naughton for his first ever big league start. I just don't see him pitching well enough to keep this game close. Bet the Yankees -1.5, -150!

    MLB | A's vs Tigers
Play on: Tigers +160 at SC Consensus

Jack's Free Pick Wednesday: Detroit Tigers +160
I like the value we are getting on the Detroit Tigers as big home underdogs to the Oakland A's tonight. They have been one of the most underrated teams in all of baseball this season, especially at home where they are 34-34 on the year.
Speaking of underrated, Wily Peralta has been solid for the Tigers. He is 3-3 with a 3.71 ERA and 1.269 WHIP in 12 starts this season, including 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in four home starts. He has allowed 3 earned runs or fewer in four consecutive starts coming in.
James Kaprielian has really regressed following a great start to the season for the A's. He has posted a 6.31 ERA in his last five starts, allowing 18 earned runs in 25 2/3 innings. Kaprielian has been at his worst on the road this season with a 4.93 ERA in nine starts away from home.
Detroit is a very profitable 31-34 (+12.1 Units) as an underdog of +125 to +175 this season. The Tigers are 9-4 (+10.7 Units) after four or more consecutive losses this season. Detroit is 8-2 in its last 10 games after allowing 5 or more runs in its previous game. Bet the Tigers Wednesday.

    MLB | OAK vs DET
    Play on: UNDER 9½ -107

#969/970 ASA FREE PLAY ON Under 9.5 Runs – Oakland Athletics @ Detroit Tigers, Wednesday at 7:10 PM ET – Yesterday's game saw both teams get to double digits in hits and it went over the total. That snapped a trend that we expect to resume tonight and that is a strong under trend which has been underway for both clubs. The A's had just 3 overs last 12 games entering last night's game and the Tigers were on an under streak of 9 in a row. James Kaprielian has a 3.65 ERA on the season. Wily Peralta has a 1.93 ERA in his 4 home starts and 3 were unders and 1 one was a push. The Tigers have scored an average of 2.5 runs their last ten games. The A's had scored an average of 2.7 runs in the last 7 games prior to having a big game yesterday. This will be the first start these pitchers are making against these respective opponents in their careers. In other words, there is a lack of familiarity for the hitters and this generally favors the pitchers. Based on their current form and yesterday's unusual result, there is a lot of line value here. Per our computer math model, this game lands around 7 to 8 runs and even if it reaches 9 that is still a winning ticket based on the 9.5 that is posted at most books as of early morning Wednesday. We like the odds being in our favor for a well-pitched affair in this one! Bet the UNDER

FRANK’S CUTTING ROOM FLOOR FOR WEDNESDAY, 9/1:

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Wednesday was with the Detroit Tigers with the money-line versus the Oakland A’s listing both starting pitchers Wily Peralta and James Kaprielian. Oakland (73-59) has won three games in a row with their 9-3 victory against the Tigers in Game One of this series. But the A’s have lost 5 of their last 7 games when favored. Oakland has also lost 4 of their last 5 games on the road. Detroit (62-71) has lost four games in a row — but they have then won 9 of their last 13 games after losing four or more in a row. The Tigers have also lost 8 of their last 10 games after allowing at least five runs in their last game. Take Detroit with the money-line listing Peralta and Kaprielian. Best of luck — Frank.

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Boston Red Sox +108
I like getting Chris Sale as an underdog here against the Tampa Bay Rays in a revenge game after the Red Sox lost the first two games of this series. Sale dominated in the minors and that has carried over into the majors in his comeback. He is 3-0 with a 2.35 ERA in his three starts since returning from the IL. Sale is 10-6 with a 2.93 ERA in 18 previous starts against the Rays. Boston is 39-17 in its last 56 games after dropping the first two games of a series. Give me the Red Sox.

Sale (3-0, 2.35 ERA) appears to be back on track following his Aug. 14 return and he gets my support here tonight in a State where he went to school. In 20 career trips to the hill (18 starts) against the Rays, the seven-time All-Star is 10-6 with a 2.94 ERA, yielding a .180 average to the opposition.
MLB Home teams when the money line is +125 to -125 (TAMPA BAY) - off 3 straight wins vs. division rivals, with a hot starting pitcher- ERA less than 2.50 over his last 5 starts are 18-42 L/24 seasons for a 70% conversion rate.
Play on the Red Sox to win

MLB | Pirates vs White Sox
Play on: Pirates +290 at SC Consensus

1* Free Sharp Play on Pirates +290
The Pirates (+290) are worth a look as a massive road dog against the White Sox in Wednesday's MLB action. As bad as Pittsburgh is, they should not be pushing +300 odds. I also don't love this spot for Chicago. This is one of those games the White Sox could take for granted, as they sit 10-games up in the AL Central. It's the last game before heading out on a 6-game road trip that ends in California. Play the Pirates +290!

    MLB | Brewers vs Giants
Play on: Giants -140 at pinnacle

FREE PICK - San Francisco Giants -140
    RATING: 30*
    ROT#: 960
I'll take my chances with the Giants as a -140 home favorite against the Brewers on Wednesday. This is just too good a price to pass up on San Francisco at home with the edge they will have on the mound given the two starters that are going.
The Giants will turn to Kevin Gausman. He's been one of their best starters, going 12-5 with a 2.49 ERA and 1.00 WHIP over 26 starts. Milwaukee on the other hand will send out the struggling Brett Anderson. He's just 4-8 with a 4.27 ERA and 1.321 WHIP in 20 starts. Anderson has a 5.00 ERA over 12 road starts and enters with a 8.53 ERA and 1.817 WHIP in his last 3 outings. Give me the Giants -140!

    MLB | Brewers vs Giants
Play on: Giants -152 at William Hill

Wednesday MLB Free play. My selection is on San Francisco over Milwaukee at 9:45 pm et on Wednesday.
The Brewers have taken the first two games in this series which isn't all that surprising considering they had significant starting pitching edges in both contests. Now the shoe is on the other foot as the Giants hand the ball to Kevin Gausman against Brett Anderson of the Brewers on Wednesday night. I expect San Francisco to finally get back in the win column, bringing an end to its three-game skid. Gausman checks in sporting a 3.38 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in 11 home starts this season with the Giants winning seven of those games. Behind Gausman is a terrific Giants bullpen that entered last night's action with a 3.28 ERA and 1.07 WHIP here at home, converting 25 saves while blowing only seven. I like the fact that they were at least able to stop the bleeding last night after falling behind 5-0 early, eventually falling by a 6-2 score. Brett Anderson has been on the hill for four consecutive Milwaukee losses, which is telling considering how well the Brewers have been playing. He hasn't recorded more than four strikeouts in any of his last nine outings. Of course, he's not a strikeout pitcher at this stage of his career so perhaps that's not all that concerning. However, it's also worth noting that he has issued five walks over his last two outings and checks in with an 8.53 ERA and 1.82 WHIP over his last three starts. Take San Francisco.
