What Wagga Riverside Races
Where Murrumbidgee Turf Club – Travers Street, Slocum St, Wagga Wagga NSW 2650
When Monday, December 5, 2022
First Race 1:55pm AEDT
Visit Ladbrokes
Racing heads to the Riverina to start the racing week with a seven-race program out of Wagga Wagga. We’re racing on the Riverside circuit with the rail in the true position for race-day and perfect forecast setting up for terrific conditions for Monday afternoon. The first race is scheduled to get underway at 1:55pm AEDT.
Wagga Best Bet: Lumber Dream
Our best bet comes in the third race of the program with Lumber Dream looking for back-to-back wins for trainer Rodger Waters. His last start win third-up was strong at Goulburn on October 30 after getting back in the field and storming home late to score by 0.2 lengths. That was a competitive BM66 contest and drops down to 55kg when stepping up to open company on Monday afternoon. He’s well weighted after that win and has a fitness edge on his rivals here, however, he does tend to miss the start at times, but that should be offset by barrier two here. Michael Travers takes the reins on this gelding by Snitzel and should get the box seat in running before letting down similarly to last start to salute.
Best Bet
Race 3 – silks#7 Lumber Dream (2)
5yo Gelding | T: Rodgers Waters | J: Michael Travers (55kg)
$5 with Palmerbet
Next Best Bet: Greek Tycoon
The second leg of the Quaddie looks a two-horse race on paper with Deepmind and our on top selection, the Mitchell Beer-trained Greek Tycoon. We were taken with the win of Greek Tycoon at Gundagai on November 12 when putting a space on his rivals going on to win by 3 lengths. He undoubtedly got the gun run that day and proved too good for that company, but he only gets a 1kg penalty for that win while Deepmind drops the same weight from his last start tilt against progressive type Mogo Magic. While the speed map may not be as favourable as it was at Gundagai, the hope is that Jockey Simon Miler can get the back of the market favourite here from gate 10 before peeling off Deepmind to score. Greek Tycoon is a great price with online Bookmakers and can hopefully notch up career win number three.
Next Best
Race 5 – silks#1 Greek Tycoon (10)
4yo Gelding | T: Mitchell Beer | J: Simon Miller (59kg)
$3.70 with Ladbrokes
Best Value: Ruban Bleu
It’s been a long time between wins for this seven-year-old son of Artie Schiller being May of 2020, but we think he looks ready to find a peak performance here second-up for the Matthew Dale stable. If you completely forget the first-up effort at Rosehill on November 5 after bombing the start, his form reads reasonably well for this grade. His run at this track and distance back in April is what we’re happy to go by, he was back and wide but produced an electric turn-of-foot late to find the frame being beaten just 1.3 lengths. If Ruban Bleu can recapture that performance, he looks well in at the weights and is worth a bet at the each-way odds with Jeff Penza taking the reins from a perfect draw we’re happy to take a piece of the price on offer.
Best Value
Race 6 – silks#9 Ruban Bleu (1)
7yo Gelding | T: Matthew Dale | J: Jeff Penza (55kg)

Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis
December 5, 2022 | By Al Cimaglia
The feature at Yonkers Raceway goes in Race 7, an Open Handicap Pace with a $33,000 purse. The headliner also marks the start of the $1.00 Late Pick 4, and that sequence will be my focus.
Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.
Race 7
3-Oakwoodnitownit IR (7-1)-Thinking this Bako trainee gets the point or the 2-hole and either can work for a picture. His Yonkers record is only 3-31 but has won 7 of 27 starts this year.
4-Odds On Capitalism (5-1)-This 3-year-old looks like a nice one and will take a swing he can top older tonight. Will avoid the 2-1 program chalk in this leg and hope Holland is in striking range to roll off cover and take advantage of a hot pace.
6-Buddy Hill (7-1)-Buddy races best near the top of the stack. That didn't happen last time but hadn't raced in almost a month. Kakaley should have the 6-year-old cranked up and could land up front and battle to the wire.
Race 8
3-Diamondbeach (5/2)-At this class, Zeron should have the pedal down to land on the point and control the mile. Comes off a nice effort from post 7 versus better and could be sitting on a big try in a field without a standout.
Race 9
1-Quatrain Blue Chip (7/2)-Recent form has been sharp and this post draw should help the cause. Looking for Marohn to work an efficient trip and be in the mix at the wire.
5-Better B Oscar A (6-1)-Dropped to this level in last and didn't accomplish much from post 7. Did roll the back half in 55.3 and returns in sequence this time. Looking for Bartlett to have this price shot within reach of the leaders turning for the wire.
Race 10
3-Whitecookie (5/2)-When dialed on high gets the top, and doesn't look back. Executed that plan on 10-17 against $75k claimers and Gingras will be looking to do the same tonight.
5-Delightful Dude N(10-1)-Hudson entry makes the 3rd start in the US and was pace compromised in last, as the 1st half went in 58.3. Did roll the back half in 55.2 and could surprise at a price.
6-Windsun Ricky (7-1)-Should relish this company and is another who can add some juice to the Pick 4 payout. Holland may look to leave, then land behind #3 and take his shot down the lane.

Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks
Mahoning Valley - Race #3
Picks Notes
#5 Liznow Her first try around two turns on the local footing produced a good try last time out, and I think she's in line for a perfect trip to take advantage if the likely chalk can't find the wire.
#1 Hurry Up Chic Chic She should be able to control the tempo early in a spot without any other serious speed, but she's not all that reliable late and may find a way to finish underneath again.
#7 Lovingtiz She's going to step up after finishing a distant second with cheaper in that last one, but there isn't much depth in this group, and she might be enough to land a piece.
Race Summary Liznow should have aim on Hurry Up Chic Chic in the early stages, and I think she might be able to get past that one in the lane as the likely second choice. 'Chic wouldn't be any surprise if she gets a soft lead.
Mahoning Valley - Race #5
Picks Notes
#3 Bay Magic Her form has always been inconsistent, but she is probably capable of something a bit better while dropping back in with claiming company out of that starter spot. Should be an okay price.
#6 Star Mabee She has been in with some better groups in her recent starts, and she's got the kind of pace to sit a good trip right off the speed in here. Tough with her best.
#7 Highly Explosive She drops out of allowance company for this one, but I think there's a chance she gets bet a bit too much on this drop. Capable player.
Race Summary Bay Magic should offer a decent mid-range price while getting out of that starter spot, and she might be able to get first jump from right up on the splits.
Mahoning Valley - Race #8
Picks Notes
#9 Stay Thirsty Amigo Think he benefits in a big way from cutting back for this one, and there are a handful of pace and chasing types that might set the table for someone to come running late. Price chance.
#8 Atomic Tone He has shown some versatility through four starts, and that should serve him well from a bit off the pace in this spot. Best stuff would probably do.
#3 Steinbeck Big dropper was last seen in stakes company and has not been in this easy a spot in quite some time. He makes a lot of sense, but he's still a forward player in a race where he's probably not alone near the top -- might outclass these.
Race Summary Stay Thirsty Amigo should offer an okay price off the route dud last time out, as he has some ability to finish from off the pace, and that might be the right kind of trip in this spot.

Frank Carulli's Daily Picks
Turf Paradise - Race #1
Picks Notes
#1 BIG SCOTT DADDY (5-2) Blew big lead at Turf Paradise in repeat try, shortens up to best distance.
#6 MISTER McLEAN (9-5) Tires to upstage series of seven in-the-money finishes in a row.
#3 WINNING MAGIC (4-1) Won twice here in the spring, gets ideal set-up in speed-laden field.
Race Summary BIG SCOTT DADDY awakened on the class drop and the switch to the Diodoro barn with a runaway win and near miss at odds-on last out. He’s eligible for the ‘non-winner of four’ part of the race conditions but still appears the horse to beat against more accomplished rivals in his current form. Bet to win and place.
Turf Paradise - Race #4
Picks Notes
#8 XTREME V.I.P. (8-1) Proven miler out of town, starts fresh for new barn in first try locally.
#5 SWAMP SOUFFLE (2-1) Well-spotted for three-peat bid for high-percentage barn, one to beat.
#4 FORT LANGLEY (9-2) Consistent rally produced 11 wins in 30 starts, had useful race over the strip.
Race Summary XTREME V.I.P. won 3 of his last 4 one-mile races on the dirt, all at Canterbury Park for top barns. He was claimed out of his last start nearly three months ago after he finished third in a blanket finish against American Union (5-22, $94k), who won in an open $5,000 claiming race going away last week in Ohio. Play a 4-5-8 exacta box.
Turf Paradise - Race #5
Picks Notes
#3 TACOFLAVORED KISSES (7-2) Typical rally makes him dangerous in this spot, today’s Best Bet.
#4 SANTALUZ DREAMIN (6-1) Took money but ‘fell back’ off layoff for new barn, price goes up.
#9 J.T.’S ATM (2-1) Lightly raced 7yo seeks third win this month, has good zip, draws favorable post.
Race Summary TACOFLAVOREDKISSES got eligible for this spot the last time he raced – and won -- at Turf Paradise in March. He switched barns often but produced contending rallies in short sprints almost every time. His style suits this race, so bet to win and place and key him in all exotic wagers.

The Walker Group Picks
# 2 PASSIONATE DREAM 2/1
# 9 LASTCHANCECHANCEY 6/1
# 8 SHE'S A LINO 15/1
PASSIONATE DREAM looks to be a very good contender. Sire is so important in two-year old races and this one's babies have fared admirably while winning at a 18 percent clip. Is a definite contender - trainer has sported quite good figures for two year olds with some good gains for risk takers. Pennington has been sizzling the last month, winning at a nifty 15 percent rate. LASTCHANCECHANCEY - Should be carefully examined versus this group based solely on pedigree figures. Cannot be ignored - Ness is a very solid conditioner with the babies, winning 19 of his races. Formidable jockey and conditioner combo winning 28 percent of their races working together. SHE'S A LINO - Hard to pass on this filly with Sanchez in the irons.

#2 SHE MAKES ME TIZZY (ML=4/1)
#1 MOANA'S TALE (ML=3/1)
SHE MAKES ME TIZZY - Not much pace in this race other than this horse. This filly should be in top form, this far into her form cycle. MOANA'S TALE - I like the fact that this mare's last speed fig, 74, is tops in this field. I think that a sprinter coming off a layoff will usually run her best in the 3rd or 4th start back. This mare is number one in (EPS) earnings per start. Check out this horse in the saddling ring. Recent Equibase speed figures show powerful pattern of improvement.
Vulnerable Contenders: #3 DANCE ON OVER (ML=5/2), #4 PRINCESS MORO (ML=5/1), #7 GRAN MAMIBELLA (ML=6/1),
DANCE ON OVER - The finish position of fourth in the last affair shows me that this horse may be losing physical conditioning. When examining today's Equibase class figure, she will have to register a much better speed rating than last time around the track to battle in this dirt sprint. PRINCESS MORO - A strong animal that's been running well, but she's been off the track in the mornings lately. GRAN MAMIBELLA - A bit of a less than stellar try when this filly finished fifth.

# 2 BRUCE ON THE LOOSE 1/1
# 1 MISTER RANSOM 9/2
# 7 TURTLENECK TED 3/1
I've got to go with BRUCE ON THE LOOSE. Should come out solid - I have liked the way this gelding has moved speedily to the lead recently. With a quite good 54 Equibase Speed Figure last time out, will unquestionably be a factor in this affair. He has garnered competitive numbers under today's conditions and ought to fare well versus this field. MISTER RANSOM - Ought to come out strong - I have liked the way this gelding has moved swiftly to the front end recently. Weymes is very serious with this one, wheeling him back in next to no time. TURTLENECK TED - Brown is serious with this one, wheeling him back almost immediately. His earnings per start in dirt sprint contests alone makes you take a look at him.

#9 LEAN ON E (ML=9/2)
#6 TOWSON (ML=15/1)
LEAN ON E - Dropping in class figure points from her November 16th race at Parx Racing. Based on that element, I will give this thoroughbred the advantage. This thoroughbred absolutely loves this surface. All her wins have been here at Parx Racing. I like this mare. Has the top earnings per start (EPS) in this contest. This horse ran off the board at Parx Racing last time out on the mud. She should improve right here on a fast track. TOWSON - Nice return on investment for this rider and handler duo.
Vulnerable Contenders: #3 SUGAR STREAK (ML=6/5), #2 CANOOCHEE (ML=4/1), #8 FRISKY FEELING (ML=6/1),
SUGAR STREAK - Hasn't been on the Parx Racing oval in the last few weeks. Cause for some concern. Have to be apprehensive of the recent trend and awesome speed rating in the Nov 2nd race. It was this mare's best at that distance and this one should bounce today. CANOOCHEE - This mare is always hitting the board, but just doesn't finish on top. Tough to wager on her on the win end. Mediocre speed rating last time out at Parx Racing at 1 mile 70 yards. Don't feel this entrant will improve too much in today's race. FRISKY FEELING - Looked good on November 2nd, finishing third, but no works since is a bit troublesome.
