Rocket Picks : Oaklawn Park, Gulfstream Park, and Aqueduct for January 14, 2023
    By: Aaron Halterman

Let’s get another big Saturday of racing kicked off today! For the free pick 4, we will head to Aqueduct for the Late Pick 4 on the card. We will also have full card selections for Gulfstream Park and Oaklawn Park for the paid Rockets, so be sure to check those out. Let’s GO!

Below is our free late Pick 4 for Aqueduct:

    Aqueduct January 14, 2023

    Race 6: Maiden Special Weight

#3 Weekend Rags has run second at this level in back to back starts to start his career. She should be competitive in this spot once again today. #8 Debbie Darling debuts in this spot for a trainer who is sharp with first time starters. She fired a bullet workout leading up to this start.

    Race 7: Starter Allowance
    freestar

#6 Ikigai was a neck away from defeating similar horses last time out over this track. He also runs first off of the claim for a solid trainer. #7 Jake Rocks goes for two in a row today after defeating weaker horses last time out, while running first off of the claim for Atras.

    Race 8: Busanda Stakes

#3 Affirmative Lady nearly won at this distance against tougher runners last time out. She gets Manny Franco aboard in this spot, which is a very good sign. #2 Occult picked up a sharp maiden win over this track last time out and should be ready to take on stakes company today.

    Race 9: Allowance

#5 Patient Capital was close to victory last time out over this track and at this class level. He seems to run best at this one-mile distance. #8 Three Jokers should get a prefect pace set up today, which makes him dangerous at a big price. This is a logical spot for him.

    THE TICKET

    $.50 Pick 4 (Races 6-9) 3,6,8,9 / 1,4,6,7 / 2,3 / 3,5,8 – $48

Aqueduct Horses in Focus for Saturday, January 14
Posted on January 13, 2023 by David Aragona

    RACE 3: DANGEROUS EDGE (#5)

I expect Awesome Native (#7) to be a heavy favorite in this N1X allowance after winning his debut convincingly in December. He’s obviously the horse to beat, but the Jorge Abreu barn usually has its first time starters ready to fire their best shots on debut. His numbers are decent, but not quite as potent with second time starters, especially on dirt. He also was sitting right on top of a slow pace first time out and he could find himself chasing a much quicker early tempo this time. The TimeformUS Pace Projector is predicting a fast pace, with 6 horses shown ahead of Awesome Native in the early going. I won’t be surprised when he wins again, but I didn’t want to settle for a short price on him. Some may consider the Rudy Rodriguez entry as an alternative, but these types of couplings are often bad value. Between the two, I slightly prefer Major Spin (#2), who didn’t run that badly after blowing the start last time. He has some prior races that give him a chance, but this is a step up in class. My top pick is Dangerous Edge (#5). This horse has been pretty consistent ever since getting claimed by Rob Atras last year. He hasn’t visited the winner’s circle since winning two in a row against weaker company last summer, but he’s run well in his recent starts at this level. While his recent form might not suggest that shorter is betting, I actually like him getting the slight turnback to sprint distances. The last time he tried 7 furlongs he had little chance to close into a slow pace. Now he’s returning from a freshening at a time when the Atras barn has been hot, and he’s supposed to get a favorable pace setup.

    RACE 7: LIAM’S FIRE (#3)

There is no shortage of early speed in this starter allowance affair, and the quickest of them all in the early going may be Ikigai (#6). This runner put in a big effort last time, as he set an honest pace and nearly hung on after taking a big lead into the stretch. However, now he could face early pressure from the likes of Upper Level (#4), who is always contesting the pace, and Fast N Fearious (#1), who has the speed to be involved when he breaks cleanly. I do think Ikigai is most dangerous of those who will be vying for the front end, but I prefer some rivals who can come from off the pace. The most logical of those is Blinding Light (#2). He’s not a deep closer, but he can be effective from mid-pack. I didn’t love his last effort when he was no match for Digital Future as the odds-on favorite, but that race did feature a slow pace that may have worked against him. My top pick is Liam’s Fire (#3). This horse was seemingly being given a race for fitness off the layoff when he was competing in that $12,500 claimer for the waiver, so I don’t want to hold that performance against him. He showed significant improvement last time on the cutback in distance, and I do think he’s generally shown himself to be a better sprinter. He put in a strong rally from off the pace last time, and he figures to get a similar setup once again. Some may dismiss him due to connections, but Amira Chichackly won a race yesterday and jockey Katie Davis has been riding well with limited opportunities.

    RACE 9: WATASHA (#11)

I’m playing against likely favorite Patient Capital (#5). I don’t quite buy the sudden improvement that he showed last time at this level. He had a lot working in his favor that day, as he got to enjoy an uncontested early lead in a race where the pace completely held together. I think he’s better judged off his prior form, and those races hardly make him a standout here. There appears to be more speed for him to deal with this time, as longshots Mauritius (#1) and Chowda (#6) both figure to get aggressive rides. The other horse who figures to take money is Money Supply (#3), but I’m also skeptical of his chances. He got a great trip when sent off as the 9-5 favorite in the other division of that Dec. 18 allowance race, but he failed to produce a late kick in the stretch. I think he’s better at shorter distances than this, and he figures to be an underlay for popular connections. My top pick is Watasha (#11). He competed in that same race as Patient Capital last time, and finished 7 lengths behind that foe. Yet Watasha didn’t get the best ride that day, as he was rated off that slow pace, and only asked for his best once the leaders had gotten away from the pack. He’s better when he’s ridden more aggressively, and I would imagine that the connections will be looking for him to get into a better position from this far outside post. It’s only his second attempt at a mile, but he’s bred to go this far and actually finished well last time considering the situation. I also want to use some closers at bigger prices who could get in the mix from off the pace. Complete Agenda (#2) is returning just 7 days after winning a starter allowance race going this distance. Yet Linda Rice is 6 for 20 (30%, $2.97 ROI) with last-out winners returning in 5 to 10 days in Aqueduct dirt races over the past 5 years. He has plenty of prior efforts that make him competitive against this field. I would even use longshot Royal Tryst (#7), who was actually closing best of all in the other division of that Dec. 18 allowance race. He didn’t run as well in the slop last time, but he should appreciate the turnback in distance to a one-turn mile.

OEUVRE has six wins and two seconds in eight on fast dirt. TOUCH OF CLASS has plenty of back speed and this looks like the right distance for her as it is where she collected all of her three wins.

    Aqueduct Hotlist - January 14

    Jan. 13, 2023

By Matt Shifman and Bob Ehalt
    Hot List Key:
    A:
A preferred horse to watch B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worst
    * - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.
3rd race [NY, Alw 72000 N1X, 7F] – (2) Major Spin (B) lost all chance at the start of his last race when he lunged out of the gate and was last as a horse that does his best pressing the pace. (5) Dangerous Edge (C) was bet down from 7-1 to 9-2 and finished third at this level for the second race in a row. (7) Awesome Native was an impressive debut winner for Jorge Abreu at odds of 2-1 by more than five lengths. (4) Forty Two Ace is a bit of an in and outer meaning that he runs well every other race and is due for a good performance here.
7th race [Alw 50000s, 6F] – (6) Ikigai set the pace, got caught at the wire, and was claimed for $35,000 by Michelle Gianguilio and is projected to get loose on the lead. (7) Jake Rocks was a front-end winner of a $25,000 claimer and was taken by Rob Atras who has a very hot barn and has been improving horses new to his barn. (3) Liam’s Fire moved up to a starter allowance and ran a big race rallying for second while earning one of the best speed figures of his career. (2) Blinding Light has been off since November when he ran second twice at this starter allowance level.
8th race [Busanda, 1 1/8 mi] – (1) Gambling Girl finished third in the Demoiselle (G2) beaten by just a length after rallying a bit wide on a muddy track. She is the only stakes winner in the field having won a NY-bred stake in September. (3) Affirmative Lady was second in the Demoiselle as a maiden. She had the lead in the stretch and lost by a neck in the end. The top two choices lost to the promising Julia Shining who is a full sister the Malathaat and hold a significant class advantage. (2) Occult broke her maiden in her second start by more than four lengths last month for Chad Brown at odds of 9-2 and may be able to get loose on the lead. (5) Aniston was also an easy maiden winner in her second try by almost five lengths for Todd Pletcher at 3-1.
9th race [Alw 82000 N1X, 1 mi] – (5) Patient Capital (C) is in excellent form with three seconds and a win two races back in a starter allowance. Last time she was bet down from 8-1 to 9-2. (2) Complete Agenda was a winner of a starter allowance in his first start after a claim by Linda Rice. (3) Money Supply gets blinkers on after a third and a second at this allowance level. (1) Mauritius will make his first start for the Rob Atras barn and that means improvement is expected.
Best bets: Major Spin (3rd); Patient Capital (9th). Best value: Ikigai (7th); Gambling Girl (8th).
    Saturday Pick 3 Special --
The Saturday Special $1 Pick 3 covers races 7-9 and includes the Busanda

Gulfstream Park Hotlist - January 14

By Bob Ehalt and Matt Shifman
    Hot List Key:
A : A preferred horse to watch B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches in the final 3 minutes and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
    * - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.
3rd race – (2) Expand the Map was second three times in four career starts and seems overdue for a maiden win. (5) War Princess was fourth in her debut and can move forward off that effort. (7) Lute Player may perk up on turf. (6) Chiromante missed by a head and should be a major contender. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-5-6-7.
5th race – (8) Sgt. Pepper can be a smash hit as he makes his career debut for Pletcher. (10) Al Atlasi made a middle move and tired in his debut. Expect a better try today. (6) Cuvier is another Pletcher firster who merits attention here. (7) Armstrong could also be a contender in this field while making his debut. Betting strategy: 8 to win, place. Exacta box: 6-7-8-10. Doubles: 6-7-8-10 with 1-6-8-9.
6th race – (8) Sendero (B) was hurt by a wide trip in a stakes and should make amends here. (7) Moon Landing might appreciate a switch to turf. (9) Ok Boomer was a game debut winner for Pletcher and can make it two in a row here. (1) Harry Time should be a factor in his U.S. debut. Betting strategy: 8 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-6-8-9.
8th race – (1) Sara’s Shaman has been training quickly for his debut and should be hard to deny at first asking. (9) Game Warden adds Lasix and could wake up here. (2) Kingsbarns is another firster who is showing promise. (10) Equal Protection seems capable of a better effort than the one he turned in during his debut. Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-9-10.
10th race – (4) Legends Can’t Die (A) was a strong second in an improved effort last time and looks best in this field. (3) Unsociable seeks a fourth straight win and should handle the switch to dirt. (1) Lightening Larry has speed and the rail and could be tough to catch. (2) Gatsby is in great form and cannot be overlooked. Betting strategy: 4 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-3-4.
No. Letter/Last race Today’s race Comment
    (8) Sendero B, 12/10 6 GP Was hurt by a wide trip in a stakes
    (4) Legends Can’t Die A, 12/22 10 GP Was an improved second last time

Keeneland Select Pick of the Day | January 14, 2023

    Jan. 13, 2023

Race 9 at Oaklawn Park | Saturday, January 14 | Post Time 5:22 PM Eastern
Fifth Season Stakes | Purse $150,000 | One Mile | Four Year Olds and Upward
    Overview:
The early pace in this one mile race could be hotly contested, and hot, because Runnin’ Ray (2) has been first or second after a half-mile has been run in 10 of his last 12 races, because Hello Hot Rod (4) led from start to finish in two of his last three races and led from the start before tiring to fourth in the other, because Dreamer’s Disease (5) has led from start to finish in his last two races, both wins around two-turns and because Seize the Night (7) earned his ONLY win, in his most recent race, leading from start to finish. That makes the race tough for morning line favorite Ginobili (8) to win, not only because he’s drawn outside all the other “early” speed types but also because he has been first or second after a half-mile in each of his last five races, all since adding blinkers.
    Top contenders:
With the fast and contested early pace in mind, three horses appear to have good shots to succeed. Among that trio, Silver Prospector (10) has to be talked about first as he opens at double digit odds. Silver Prospector has run nine times at Oaklawn in his 24 race career, winning once and placing once so you might think he prefers other tracks as the majority of his $1.2 million in earnings has come elsewhere. That is not the case, as he earned the biggest win in his career over this track. That win came three years ago in the Southwest Stakes with a then career-best 107 Equibase Speed Figure. One year later he finished second in the Oaklawn Handicap here in a huge effort when second to a six length winner, also earning a 107 figure. Silver Prospector then lost six more races in a row but showed his top form one more time last May when victorious at this mile trip in the Steve Sexton Mile, earning a new career-best 112 which is the best figure earned by any horse in this field. Rested since a poor effort last October, the reason I believe Silver Prospector can return to form good enough to win is the fact that he puts on blinkers for the very first time, and that change resulted in a very fast half-mile workout six days ago which was the second best of 87 on the day. Additionally, Silver Prospector won the Steve Sexton from the outside post in a field of nine, similar to the outside post he gets in this race, and he closed into a fast pace in that race, similar to the one he will get courtesy of need-the-lead types Hello Hot Rod, Dreamer’s Disease and Seize the Night. If the assessment is correct the equipment change as well as returning to Oaklawn means Silver Prospector may be able to rebound to top form, and he could post the upset and win this year’s Fifth Season Stakes.
Soy Tapatio (1) really came into his own after changing trainers to Robertino Diodoro last summer. His first race for Diodoro was a six and one-half length win in the Manitoba Mile Stakes, earning a career-best 107 figure. Since then Soy Tapatio has won two of four while losing by a neck on the wire in another. All four were stakes races and he earned 104 and 105 figures in the two wins. Since shipping into Oaklawn, Soy Tapatio has worked three times, with his most recent similar to Silver Prospector seven days ago where his half-mile workout was the second best of 47 on the day. Also similar to Silver Prospector, Soy Tapatio will appreciate the hot and contested early pace by at least three, perhaps four (including Ginobili) other horses, enabling him to potentially win for the fourth time in his last six races.
Rated R Superstar (6) is now a nine year old but considering he won four of nine last year at the age of eight, earning $600K in the process, that’s not a concern. Five of his 13 wins have come at Oaklawn and if he wins this race his earnings at this track alone will exceed $1 million. Last year Rated R Superstar won this race after returning from four months off and a runner-up finish. This year he enters the Fifth Season in even better form, as he won the Jeffrey A. Hawk Memorial Stakes one month ago following a three month rest. Jockey Castillo was aboard for the first time in that race and rides back. Even though Rated R Superstar only earned a 100 figure for his win last month and a 102 figure for his win before that last summer in the Governor’s Cup Stakes, the 111 figure effort earned winning last year’s Fifth Season would put him right there at the finish with Silver Prospector if that one ran his best race, leading to a very exciting finish.
    Win bets:
We must absolutely consider a win bet on Silver Prospector (10) at odds of 4 to 1 or more.
We can also consider win bets on Soy Tapatio (1) and on Rated R Superstar (6) at odds of 4 to 1 or higher.
    Exactas:

First, considering Silver Prospector (10) is going to go to post at high odds, an exacta putting him in second position is likely to pay much better than a place bet and is well worth the risk:
    ALL over Silver Prospector (10)
Also, box Soy Tapatio (1), Rated R Superstar (6) and Silver Prospector (10)

Al Cimaglia: Meadowlands Late Pick 4 Analysis

    January 14, 2023 | By Al Cimaglia
The Meadowlands has a 14-race program scheduled for tonight. The 0.50 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 6. The sequence has a $50,000 guaranteed pool with a 15% takeout, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

    Race 6

1-Ario Hanover (3-1)-Got the point from post 10 last week and made every call a winning one. Really no reason the plan will change here and the outcome could very well be the same.
7-Unsung Hero (9/2)-Mohawk invader has hit the board in 2 of 5 starts at the Big M with 1 picture. This 4-year-old has won 7 of 21 and if the one above falters down the lane the Daniels trainee can roll by off cover at a square price.

    Race 7

6-Dontlikeitleave (3-1)-Went off at 8/5 versus this kind and made it look easy in last. This will be the 3rd start in sequence since taking a few weeks off and looks like a main player again.
7-Boiler Maker (7/2)-Stratton worked a nice trip and the post time chalk didn't disappoint. Has hit the board in 3 of 5 at M1 and took 2 pictures. Has been in good form since the beginning of November and deserves respect here.

    Race 8

1-Pick A Genre (6-1)-Was claimed from Jenn B on 11-19 and hasn't accomplished much for Engblom since. This will be the 4th start for the new barn and the only time coming back in sequence. Will take a swing for a price and look for better, did beat similar here on 11-19.
3-Stonebridge Reef (3-1)-Gets post relief, 2nd time Lasix, comes right back and doesn't bump heads with Ario Hanover who was a well-meant winner. Has been no worse than 3rd in 4 of the last 5 and finished 2nd in 3 races. May have met a beatable field.

    Race 9

2-Hestherightstuff (6-1)-Bumps up after running the field down with a .56 last half to just get up in time. Seems to have a nose for the wire winning 14 of 33 lifetime and has posted 3 victories in 19 starts at M1. Comes back in sequence after being off a month before winning on 1-7.
3-Revolver N (9/2)-Raced well to finish a close 3rd after being off 3-weeks between starts. Comes back to face the same kind, and should be a threat if Beckwith does his job.
6-Chaser Hanover (8-1)-Mark Mac had the pedal down leaving from post 9 in a needed start and finished a close 5th at 45-1. Has the gate speed to race near the top of the stack and then look for one nice move down the lane to take a picture at a price.

    0.50 Late Pick 4

    1,7/6,7/1,3/2,3,6
    Total Bet=$12

#4 Charriere Hoping she stays at a price that's just playable, as she ran a good one from close range in the debut and has room to come forward with that race under her belt. Think she's a handful here.
#8 Blame Day She's a good fit here after a couple nice efforts to open her career, but the barn is typically a bit overbet in these types of spots. That said, they're on a tear to open the season -- winning 34% and hitting the exacta in 34 of 61 starts.
#2 Lady Dreamer Most of these have been pretty content to settle a touch off the pace so far, and she might try to have a go of it from the inside with enough pace to maybe find the front.
Race Summary Charriere tracked and stayed on at one pace late in her debut run, but she should be in line for another good trip near the splits, and any move forward off that run should make her very tough. I'll single here.
    Fair Grounds - Race #8
    Picks Notes
#8 Aboukir Bay Late runner should offer a decent price on the rise, and this barn has been going well with all kinds right now -- debuters, long layoff types, etc -- so I wouldn't be shocked to see her run a peak race here.
#7 Oeuvre She has landed seven of her last eight, and she's a really logical player at another modest price this time around. Wonder if she's just the slightest touch better on the main right now?
#3 Astute She has a pretty high ceiling, having already turned in a couple big tries in a four-race career that has seen her suffer her only career loss in Grade I company. She debuted going short on the turf, so the cutback to this trip isn't much of a concern. Probably an underlay?
Race Summary Aboukir Bay has to prove herself on class here in a big way, but she's better than ever right now after landing a Keeneland allowance right back off her maiden win. Let's see if she can swing out late and outfinish these.
    Fair Grounds - Race #9
    Picks Notes
#2 G's Million His debut produced a rare maiden misfire for this barn when stopping badly, but I think he's capable of something better and should offer an appealing price to find out.
#6 Boss' Dialin In He has run into a handful of decent winners throughout his career, but I'm not sure he has a whole lot of upside right now and could be vulnerable to finding another one or two who are a bit too good today.
#1 Cloud Without Rein He kind of has to try to go from the fence again like he did last time out, but there isn't a ton of serious speed signed on in here, so I suppose he has a chance to pop this group on the front end in his 11th career start.
Race Summary G's Million has a long way to come if he's going to land this one, but I think he's probably got something better up his sleeve in this second lifetime start. Price should be right.

    Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

    Delta Downs - Race #4
    Picks Notes
#8 BAYOU BEAUX (7-2) Led between calls, just missed, draws favorable post, good value play.
#7 JUSTIN SPEIGHT (5-2) Good first gear, gets class relief, strictly the one to beat.
#4 FULL POWER (8-1) Steady check-getter is 10/2-2-3 at Delta, mostly at 5F.
Race Summary BAYOU BEAUX bid 3-wide on the turn to a brief lead and got caught by a deep closer near the wire in the same spot. He was ‘fractious’ in his prior start and chased $111k earner Lucky Promise. He draws a favorable post to strike from just off the pace. Bet to win and place.
    Delta Downs - Race #7
    Picks Notes
#3 GIMME CANDY (3-1) Reversed form, beat weak field at Churchill, but win here in 2022 encouraging.
#5 CYBER SNEAKER (6-1) Four wins tops in field, just missed in three-peat attempt on class hike.
#9 BROKEN PROPOSAL (6-1) Canada shipper arrives in good form, winning pair of routes recently.
Race Summary GIMME CANDY showed improved speed and stamina in an upset victory at Churchill Downs, but she also has a winning rally at Delta Downs to summon for her prior win a year ago. She resumes her light schedule after a pair of workouts out of town. Play a 3-5-9 exacta box.
    Delta Downs - Race #8
    Picks Notes
#3 BUILDING HOME (7-2) Good speed, good record, sheds 8 pounds at unproven distance.
#1-1A ENTRY (5-2) A Wish for Madelyn needs alert start, Rebecca G needs to improve off claim.
#4 MEAN AMERICAN (9-2) Piles up the checks but remains winless at Delta in 12 starts.
Race Summary BUILDING HOME pressed the pace to the eighth pole before tiring, but she knows how to win and could take some catching if she can get the added distance. She gets in as the co-light weight with a new jockey. Bet to win and place.

    Turfway Park - Race #2 - Post: 1:15pm - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $15,000 Class Rating: 85

    Rating:

    #11 TALLESTOFTHETALL (ML=5/1)

TALLESTOFTHETALL - Finished out of the money last out at Turfway Park, but was within five lengths of the winner. Opening at 5/1 makes me think he's got a chance.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #2 GRAY HOPE (ML=3/1), #1 TEXAS GANO (ML=7/2), #8 STEWARDS RULES (ML=4/1),

GRAY HOPE - This questionable contender hasn't been on the track since December 15th. Not even any workouts. When looking at today's class rating, he will have to earn a better fig than in the last race to compete in this dirt route. TEXAS GANO - This steed ran a most unsatisfactory speed figure last time around the track. He shouldn't improve and will likely suffer defeat in today's event running that fig. STEWARDS RULES - A pattern of declining speed ratings 85/76/72 for this questionable contender. Didn't land in the top three on November 9th at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Followed it up with another lackluster try. When checking today's class figure, he will have to earn a better speed figure than last out to vie in this dirt route.

Race 2 - Maiden Claiming - 6.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $25000 Class Rating: 64

FOR MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD. WEIGHT, 124 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $12,500, IF FOR $10,000, ALLOWED 4 LBS.

    RECOMMENDED CHOICES
    # 4 DUKE OF DOOLY 5/2
    # 2 LOVE TALK 9/2
    # 6 BUBBA CHROME 8/1

DUKE OF DOOLY has a formidable shot to take this race. Is a sharp contender based on figures posted lately under today's conditions. Lately Cruz has been on fire which may give the edge to this gelding. Don't overlook this gelding in your propositions - very dangerous with Cruz aboard. LOVE TALK - Make a note that this entrant runs on Lasix today. He has earned very good figs under today's conditions and will almost certainly fare well versus this group of animals. BUBBA CHROME - Will most likely come out strong - I have liked the way this gelding has moved speedily to the front end recently. Cox and Marquez have won 19 percent of their races giving this racer a strong chance.

    Race 7 - Claiming - 5.5f on the Dirt. Purse: $10000 Class Rating: 67

FOR FILLIES AND MARES FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON THREE RACES. WEIGHT, 123 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $5,000. TEXAS BRED CLAIMING PRICE $6,250.

    RECOMMENDED CHOICES
    # 2 SACRED SUNDAY 3/1
    # 6 SMOKING GUITAR 12/1
    # 7 NAUGHTY NATALIE 6/1

I think SACRED SUNDAY is a solid choice. Displays reliable Speed Figures on average overall when measured up against the rest of this group. Has been close at the wire most every time recently. With a very strong 67 Equibase speed fig last time out, will definitely be a factor in this contest. SMOKING GUITAR - Demonstrates the look of a lucrative play, averaging a solid 59 speed figure which is one of the top in this group.

    Aqueduct - Race #4 - Post: 1:47pm - Claiming - 9.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $28,000 Class Rating: 88

    Rating:

    #1 VOLIERO (ML=8/1)

VOLIERO - Rode this animal on Dec 10th and Rodriguezcastr is back again in the irons in today's race. When Rodriguezcastr and Persaud unite on horses the ROI has been great at +276.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #7 JAY'STALKER (ML=5/2), #4 DONTBELATE (ML=3/1), #6 JADE'S DREAM (ML=7/2),

JAY'STALKER - Couldn't make up ground at any point on December 10th. Hard to play this time at the expected odds. This gelding registered a speed figure in his last affair which likely isn't good enough today. DONTBELATE - When scrutinizing today's class rating, he will have to notch a much better speed fig than in the last race to be competitive in this dirt route. JADE'S DREAM - 86/78/65, are the decreasing Equibase speed figures for this steed. When examining today's class figure, he will have to earn a better fig than in the last race to be competitive in this dirt route.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: #1 VOLIERO is the play if we get odds of 1/1 or better
