    Mahoning Valley - Race #3
    Picks Notes
#3 Bulls N Berry Not much to get excited about on paper in this group, and this one at least showed a little life last out when trying claiming company for the first time. Third start of the season could have her set for something better on the stretchout.
#2 Few Regrets She was competitive in better special weight spots here last month, but she has had a lot of chances and is an unknown commodity around two turns right now. Capable player, but I have questions at what might be a short price.
#5 Comic Book The Turfway form isn't much to look at, but she gets on the dirt for the first time and meets what is a questionable group even for the local level. Another who makes sense but might be overbet.
Race Summary Bulls N Berry moved up last out when going second off the long break, and the move around two turns today could have her set for something better today.
    Mahoning Valley - Race #7
    Picks Notes
#7 Twenty Four Karat She has some appeal while moving back around two turns, and she draws well outside of the other potential pace from the fence. Price might be right.
#1 Power Broker Going to hope one of the two forward players will land this, as she stuck around well when getting two turns last time out and might be dangerous if she doesn't take a ton of heat early.
#6 Aunt Bee She's probably supposed to drill these on the drop, but not a great sign to be in for this tag after being last seen at 7/2 in stakes company here in December.
Race Summary Twenty Four Karat and Power Broker might manage a reasonable tempo up top, but the former might be a touch more likely to successfully rate at a better price.
    Mahoning Valley - Race #8
    Picks Notes
#5 Tritone Gal She can probably be tough here after easily handling a Charles Town allowance group last out, and her previous form at Laurel sets a baseline that might just be too good.
#2 Lordhearmyprayer She might be a little cheap for these, but she steps up in good form while spying a third straight score. Worry that she's going to take the worst of the early battle.
#6 Kitten Calls She was flat going long last out behind a solid winner, but the recent sprint form on her page is pretty solid compared to most in here. One of the ones.
Race Summary Tritone Gal should be in a great spot while spying the pace today, and the race flow should work well for her against a group she is supposed to handle.

    Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

    Parx - Race #1
    Picks Notes
#8 ASTONISHING ANABEL (4-1) Pressed short-priced faves and gave way, shortens up, good value play.
#1 LADY YELLEN (5-1) Win and two seconds in last three short sprints at various venues.
#3 BLAME CATALAYA (3-1) Stands 9/2-4-2 at distance, re-claimed out of near miss last out.
Race Summary ASTONISHING ANABEL ‘prompted’ the 9-to-5 winner and even-money runner-up but faded to fourth in a long sprint when fourth in a long sprint at this level. She makes her second start for a high percentage barn and can make good use of her speed from the outside on the cutback to 6F. Bet to win and place and play 8-1 and 8-3 exactas.
    Parx - Race #2
    Picks Notes
#1 I FEELUCKY TONITE (4-1) Returns to conventional dirt off maiden win, likely to improve in this barn.
#4 CHASING STARDOM (9-5) Got away easy in 7F romp, runs well when rested.
#3 BOBBY’S CANDY (2-1) Battling bout with seconditis at this level, makes third start of cycle.
Race Summary I FEELUCKY TONITE sat a good trip, rallied to lead in late stretch and was all-out to hold on for his maiden-breaking win at Turfway Park. He enters a sharp claim barn and lures Pennington to ride, so bet to win and place in his repeat attempt.
    Parx - Race #4
    Picks Notes
#3 CICI UNIFIED (8-1) Rallied for new connections, sheds blinkers, has three wins at Parx.
#6 MATTY BO (9-5) Carried her speed to a win and two seconds, remaining hot at claim box.
#1 LARAMORE (3-1) Second at 7F and 6-1/2F as the fave in last pair, now tries 6F.
Race Summary CICI UNIFIED rallied wide to finish behind the two favorites off a 10-week layoff. She makes her first start locally in more than a year for a 21-percent trainer with these layoff types. Bet to win and place.

    RECOMMENDED CHOICES
    # 5 MAMASHAVNAHOTFLASH 3/1
    # 2 WHEN JUDY CALLS 8/5
    # 4 HUNNY HUSH 4/1

I give my vote to MAMASHAVNAHOTFLASH here. Has a very solid record at the distance and surface, which makes me give the nod to this filly. Will most likely be one of the front-runners of the bunch going into the midpoint of the contest. Put up a decent Equibase Speed Figure last time out. WHEN JUDY CALLS - Profitable rider and handler team, with a +9 return on investment. Is a solid contender - given the 67 speed figure from her most recent race. HUNNY HUSH - Is difficult not to consider given the company run in recently.

Mahoning Valley Race Course - Race #7 - Post: 3:43pm - Claiming - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $25,900 Class Rating: 70

    Rating:

    #1 POWER BANKER (ML=9/2)
    #5 SORORITY SISTER (ML=5/2)

POWER BANKER - A campaigner coming back this rapidly after a sharp outing is a good sign. Taking this jockey/handler combination is a smart move. SORORITY SISTER - Have to give this mare a good shot. Ran a nice contest last time out within the last 30 days. Diaz rode this horse for the initial time last out and comes right back in this race. This mare's last speed rating is strong enough to win here, I'll invest in her back again this time out.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 AUNT BEE (ML=9/5), #2 NO TWOWAYSABOUTIT (ML=6/1), #3 OUT FOR FUN (ML=8/1),

AUNT BEE - Can't play this morning-line favorite off the long layoff. NO TWOWAYSABOUTIT - Awfully difficult to wager on this questionable contender when she hasn't been showing any signs of readiness recently. OUT FOR FUN - This mare earned a fig in her last race which probably isn't good enough in today's event.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - POWER BANKER - At Mahoning Valley Race Cour on March 13th this mare posted a speed figure of 65 in her last race. She has the top last figure in the field.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: #1 POWER BANKER is the play if we get odds of 6/5 or better

    Race 3 - Claiming - 8.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $21000 Class Rating: 58

FOR FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON TWO RACES. THREE YEAR OLDS, 120 LBS.; OLDER, 125 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF A RACE AT ONE MILE OR OVER SINCE MARCH 2 ALLOWED 3 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $7,500.

    RECOMMENDED CHOICES
    # 6 KENTUCKY REIGN 3/1
    # 7 INCONTROVERTIBLE 4/1
    # 1 DIXIE GROOVE 2/1

KENTUCKY REIGN is my choice. Displays the look of a lucrative play, averaging a solid 59 Equibase Speed Fig which is one of the top in this group of horses in this race. Should be carefully examined - I like the numbers from the last affair. Must be given a shot given the class of races run recently. INCONTROVERTIBLE - Has been running soundly lately and will almost certainly be on the front end early on. Posted a respectable speed figure last time out. DIXIE GROOVE - Pino has a strong win percentage with horses racing in dirt route races. Earned a strong Equibase Speed Figure last time out.

Will Rogers Downs - Race #6 - Post: 3:30pm - Maiden Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $10,000 Class Rating: 60

    Rating:

    #7 DABOOGEYMAN (ML=5/2)

DABOOGEYMAN - I like to wager on this handicapping theory, a thoroughbred coming back off a sharp effort within the last thirty days. When Cabrera and Hewitt join forces on horses the ROI has been fantastic at +226. This horse's last race was at Will Rogers Downs in a race with a class rating of 73. Dropping significantly in class rating in today's event puts him in a solid position in this race. Look at this pattern of improvement. 4/47/64 are the last three speed figures. This gelding registered a good speed rating of 64 in his last event. That speed fig should be lofty enough to win today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 GOSPEL GOOD WILL (ML=2/1), #4 WHAT ABOUT JIMMY (ML=4/1), #5 CRUEL ENDEAVOR (ML=5/1),

GOSPEL GOOD WILL - Finished fourth in his most recent performance with a quite unimpressive speed fig. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to prove victorious after that in this field. WHAT ABOUT JIMMY - This runner will probably need at least one more start after the lackluster showing following the long layoff. CRUEL ENDEAVOR - Awfully hard to bet on this runner when he hasn't been showing any signs of readiness recently.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Putting our cash on #7 DABOOGEYMAN to win. Have to have odds of at least 1/1 or better though
    EXACTA WAGERS: Pass

    TRIFECTA WAGERS:

    SUPERFECTA WAGERS: Skip
