Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Keeneland - Race #5
Picks Notes
#2 Kimber Spice She finished up well going short in the debut, and that might set her up for something better while stretching around two turns. She's bred to handle the added ground and might be just playable enough on the board.
#1 Waves of Mischief Get a look at her on the tote and track, but she's debuting in a spot that doesn't feel like the deepest for the local level, so she might have a claim on this at first asking with Gaffalione signing on.
#4 Centuria She rallied well in her American debut last month, and that feels like something she can probably build on. Wouldn't surprise to see her on the scene late.
Race Summary Kimber Spice can move forward with the debut run in the rearview, and she might be in a good spot right up near the splits.
Keeneland - Race #8
Picks Notes
#2 Secret Rules He's always a little bit dicey late, but there are a couple races on his page in which he was able to prompt the pace and stay on well enough to be competitive with this kind. Interesting.
#9 Kneedeepinsnow He gets some class relief for this one with some running lines on the page that would probably make him pretty tough. Good draw to watch everything unfold.
#8 Zippin Gigi He hasn't been in this easy for some time, and he ran well in his previous trip over the footing. Not impossible from right up on the pace.
Race Summary Secret Rules and Kneedeepinsnow seem most likely to settle this one, but the former might offer a bit better price on the board with some softer recent company lines.
Keeneland - Race #9
Picks Notes
#15 Day Dawning I am a little bummed that she and #14 Total Class are drawn out on the also eligibles, as I think they're both interesting on debut at this kind of trip if either of them get to go. Take a look.
#7 Riley Jean Barn typically does good work at this kind of trip, and this one feels like she might be slowly moving in the right direction. Top effort might keep her in the frame.
#6 Mo Lantern Not much to argue with through the first two starts, but I wouldn't want to be here at too short a price in a race that feels competitive enough on paper.
Race Summary I'd also want to take a look at #1 Bougie Not Basic ahead of this one, but I'm going to hope one of the interesting also-eligible runners is able to draw in and make some noise at first asking. Riley Jean and Mo Lantern feel logical but uninspiring.
