It's no secret that Seattle is one of the most difficult places for an NFL team to travel to to play, the Seahawks have one of the best home field advantages in the league, and play substantially better in the friendly air of the North West, than they do when they venture on the road. They are led by an outstanding defense that is allowing an average of 14ppg. Today however they face off against the face of the NFL and the Patriots, who are the leagues best road team over the same span (70-36 SU, 67-38-1 ATS), and have a better chance than most teams to be less influenced by the crowd here. The offense is well balanced and coached, (3rd in off passer rtg, 9th in rush yds/att, 4th in 3rd down conversions, 5th in Redzone TD %) and should be able to score enough points with the leagues highest scoring offense (33ppg) to apply pressure on Rookie Seattle QB Russell Wilson to try and make the most of his opportunities and convert scoring chances into TD's.
Third down conversions and Red Zone opportunities will be vital here for Seattle, as it is for any team, especially against the high octane offense of the Patriots, as you can not settle for 3 points often and expect to come out ahead. Seattle this year is only converting 32.81% of 3rd down opportunities (25th in NFL) and 28.57% of Red Zone possessions into TD's (32nd in NFL), and will need to do better against a middle of the road defense that so far has allowed teams to convert 43.75% (25th in NFL) of 3rd down possessions and 58.33% of Red Zone opportunities (17th in NFL).
I hate being on the side of Joe Public here, with a solid 70%+ of action on the road team here, but I just do not see Russell Wilson being able to do enough on the offensive side of the ball to take advantage of the Patriots secondary (22nd in def passer rtg) to keep Seattle in this for a full 60 minutes, and the Pats D-Line has shown they can create turnovers, averaging 2.8 takeaways a game (3rd in NFL)
