It was a really close fight though. I had no idea who was winning. Neither of them was edging the other.
I gave Bendo three rounds. It was close, but by the end of the fourth round, I legit thought that Gil had only won the first.
Edgar did win the rematch, though. But I guess that just speaks to the depth of lightweight. There's not much that separates the champ from the top contenders. The last time we had a truly dominant champ was when BJ had the belt.
I heart cock
I suppose that's true, but he's at least the last one to a) take the belt in a totally dominant, decisive way, and defend it also dominantly and decisively.
I heart cock
Fair. But Henderson dominated Diaz to defend.
Triple-six killers in this motherfucker runnin shit
That's true. I think that's probably the only dominant LW title fight we've seen since BJ/Edgar II.
I heart cock
Speaking of BJ, I just read that he weighed in at a chubby 191 lbs to fight an in shape 220 lb Lyoto Machida. That dude has balls. And I think that's why people love BJ: He's never been afraid to take a chance at bigger glory unlike, say, GSP.
I heart cock
What about Edgar himself? There is a legitimate argument that he was 2-4 in title fights at 155lbs. I'm not sure why there is so much talk about a "gift" decision when it a split decision comprised of all 48-47 scorecards. As if a fight made up of close rounds ending in a split decision one way or the other means somebody got screwed.

I thought Bendo won rds 2,3,4. I really wasn't worried until I heard the SD. I was surprised Bendo couldn't take him down.

I felt the same about him not being able to get the takedown. It was close. I thought mein would do better two.

I was really worried when Bendo couldn't get the td. Melendez looked great. I had a feelibg Brown was gonna whoop that kids ass.
I was really suprised that Bendo couldn't get the td as well.
I was also suprised of how good Melendez cardio looked.
I was pretty sure that Bendo would take over in the later rounds
All my same thoughts but in retrospect it makes sense. He has always demonstrated good wrestling and he trains with a camp that turns out fighter known for cardio. Henderson by split was at +800 and I almost bet it after Brian Stann called it close fight on Fox. Would have been great.
