The Jazil Stakes
9.0 FURLONGS DIRT FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD STAKES $100,000.00 PURSE
#5 HARLAN PUNCH
#1 DOYOUKNOWSOMETHING
#4 BACKSIDEOFTHEMOON
#3 CLOWNEY
Well folks, lest you have forgotten, this race is named after Jazil, the 2006 winner of the Belmont Stakes. Here in just the 4th running of this stakes test, #5 HARLAN PUNCH, the pace profile leader in this field racing at, or about, today's distance of 9.0 furlongs on the dirt, and has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in five straight, including a trio of "POWER RUN WINS" being embedded in this recent streak of racing consistency. #1 DOYOUKNOWSOMETHING, the morning line favorite, has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in three of his last five outings, including a "POWER RUN WIN" in his 3rd race back. Jockey Angel Arroyo and Trainer Robertino Diodoro send him to the post ... they've hit the board with an even 50% of more than 125 entries saddled as a team to date.

#5 DELTA EIGHTY EIGHT (ML=5/2)
DELTA EIGHTY EIGHT - The jockey and handler combination have a favorable ROI when they join forces. Looking over this gelding's PPs I see that the last time he tried this distance he got a speed figure that would be good enough to win today's contest. 'Blinkers On' is a time-honored positive angle in handicapping the races.
Vulnerable Contenders: #4 TALL STORY (ML=3/1), #2 ARNAUD (ML=4/1), #7 I DON'T FLY COACH (ML=6/1),
TALL STORY - Don't believe this mount will make an impact in today's race. That last speed figure was pedestrian when compared with today's class rating. ARNAUD - If you keep playing these kind of 'hanger' types, you're going to be frustrated often. The fig in the last race doesn't fit very well in this contest when I look at the Equibase class figure of today's event. Mark this horse as a questionable challenger. I DON'T FLY COACH - If you keep choosing these kind of 'bridesmaid' types, you're going to be disappointed most of the time. 6/1 odds isn't enough for this participant when looking at the most recent outings.
Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - DELTA EIGHTY EIGHT - Taking a very big class figure tumble today. Let's make some cash on the drastic drop.
STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Have to go with #5 DELTA EIGHTY EIGHT on the win end if we get at least 1/1 odds

The Walker Group Picks
# 5 GENEROUS KITTEN 7/2
# 4 MAGNA BREEZE 4/1
# 1 STREET LIFE BLUES 5/1
GENEROUS KITTEN is my choice. Have to examine solely on class, with some of the best class figures of this group of animals. Has respectable speed figures and has to be considered for a wager for this event. MAGNA BREEZE - Must be given a chance here on the basis of the numbers in the speed section alone. Asmussen has a reliable 16 percent win rate with entries running at this distance and surface. STREET LIFE BLUES - Should come out strong - I have liked the way this gelding has moved promptly to the front end recently.

Parx Racing - Race #4 - Post: 1:46pm - Claiming - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $20,500 Class Rating: 80
Rating: 4
#10 SPEEDY A. P. (ML=8/1)
#3 SIR RAY (ML=9/2)
#1A MY UNCLE AL (ML=6/1)
SPEEDY A. P. - Good return on investment for this jock and trainer twosome. Was in a $12,500 Claiming race at Parx Racing last time around the track. That race had a class rating of 87 and he is moving down in this event. A certain win candidate. SIR RAY - Rodriguezcastr and Preciado teamed up together are a horse gambler's friend. Last raced at Parx Racing with a poor draw. I swiped some data from The Brain, and his computer says the inside should be a big help to this one today. MY UNCLE AL - This beautiful animal should be rocking and rolling in the stretch.
Vulnerable Contenders: #7 PERCOLATOR (ML=3/1), #2 KINGSLAYER (ML=4/1), #1 EL MUNDO (ML=6/1),
PERCOLATOR - This thoroughbred likes to be in the money, but doesn't usually finish first. Keep out of the top spot. KINGSLAYER - You believe this animal is going to finish first just because he's always close. Just doesn't win frequently. Tough to put your cash on this early speedball. Too much zip in the clash. EL MUNDO - Didn't close any ground at all on December 18th. Hard to play in today's event at the expected odds. Somewhat easily forgotten speed rating in the last race at Parx Racing at 1 1/16 miles. Don't believe this mount will improve too much today.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks
# 9 BEAU RECALL (IRE) 7/2
# 8 INSTANT REFLEX 8/1
# 1 CONIAH 4/1
BEAU RECALL (IRE) is my choice. She has been running solidly and the Speed Figures are among the most respectable in this group. Could best this group based on the speed rating - 112 - of her last race. INSTANT REFLEX - Posted a sound speed rating in the last race. Can run another good one in this race. With a sound 103 average speed rating at the distance, seems well suited for today's race. CONIAH - Morey has this mare running well and is a very good pick based on the competitive speed figures put up in sprint races lately. Has been running solidly lately and will most likely be close to the front end early on.
