CHI. CUBS @ CHI. WHITE SOX | 08/27 | 8:10 PM EDT
CHI. WHITE SOX -210
ANALYSIS: I don't like playing this big number behind Sox starter Dallas Keuchel, but this is the best White Sox lineup of the season with Yasmani Grandal back today. The only reason I am not playing the runline is because I don't trust Keuchel. But he should beat the Triple-A Cubs. Usually, when an NL team adds the DH it helps. Somehow, the Cubbies get worse.

ANALYSIS: I pretty much agree with everything John Bollman said -- and that dude is rolling! The better team adds a bat and has the better pitcher. The Twins have mailed it in, which was saw yesterday in Boston.

ANALYSIS: It pains me to back JA Happ, but the wild-card hopeful Cardinals simply can't blow another game in Pittsburgh and they also get Tyler O'Neill back in the lineup. He hadn't started the past three. Still can't believe St. Louis lost yesterday.

ANALYSIS: The Brewers have been sensational at avoiding losing streaks of more than two games since the All-Star break. Furthermore, they’ve been sensational at bouncing back from a loss in which they scored only one run; they’re 3-0 since the break after scoring only one run in a loss. Take the Brewers to take care of the Twins.

ANALYSIS: On Friday, the Braves have a golden opportunity to take advantage of consecutive off days. Furthermore, starting pitcher Max Fried has won all four starts in the month of August and has allowed just two runs total. Take the Braves to end the Giants' five-game win streak.

ANALYSIS: Andrew Albers will be making his first start since 2017 and he has pitched four innings allowing just one run this season. Eric Lauer has a 2.97 ERA on the road and he hasn’t allowed more than three runs in a start since June 14th. The Twins struggle against lefties, and the Brewers get to add a DH. The Brewers are 16-7 since the trade deadline and 9-2 on the road. Take the Brewers to stay hot.

ANALYSIS: The Rays are 15-1 against the Orioles this season and undefeated in Camden Yards. Shane McClanahan has allowed just 5 ER in 17 IP against the Orioles this season including 5 innings in his last start. Matt Harvey is 2-8 with a 6.62 ERA at home and he was lit up in both outings against the Rays this season. The Orioles are 3-20 since the trade deadline while the Rays are 16-6.

ANALYSIS: Keegan Thompson was built up to 4 IP in his second start of the season last outing but he faces the White Sox tonight. Dallas Keuchel is much better at home going 5-2 with a 4.07 ERA this season. The Cubs add the DH but it should be to the White Sox benefit as the Cubs don’t have any depth. Yasmani Grandal is back in the lineup, take the White Sox at home.

ANALYSIS: Wade Miley has been very good this season and he allowed two runs in just 4.2 IP after he got in some walk trouble in his last outing. Zach Thompson has also been good but the Marlins struggle behind him, and he allowed two runs in five innings in his last outing against the Reds. The Marlins have the fourth worst wOBA in the league against lefties and the Reds are 15-9 since the trade deadline. The Reds are 2 games up in the Wild Card spot, take the Reds to bounce back after a disappointing series against the Brewers.

WASHINGTON @ N.Y. METS | 08/27 | 7:10 PM EDT
WASHINGTON +175
ANALYSIS: Seth Lugo, Aaron Loup, and Trevor May all pitched the past two games so the Mets should be a little short staffed in terms of bullpen arms. Rich Hill has been solid but he hasn’t pitched more than five innings yet for the Mets. Paolo Espino has thrown 6 shutout innings against the Mets this season but has struggled otherwise. The Nats have by far the highest wOBA in the league against lefties. The Mets are 6-18 since the trade deadline while the Nats are 6-16, this game should be much closer to 50-50.

ANALYSIS: The Twins are 38-17-2 to the Over when they’re the underdog. That’s close to a 70 percent win rate and recently a solid strategy has been to fade the Minnesota pitching staff and back its dangerous offense. The Twins are starting Andrew Albers, who made his first appearance of his career against the Yankees pitching in long relief. But he’ll make his first start Friday. I think there’s a good chance this game finds its way to double-digit runs.

TAMPA BAY -1.5
ANALYSIS: The Orioles may have looked better against the Angels, but the Rays have had their number all season, Tampa Bay is 15-1 against Baltimore this year and Friday shouldn’t be much different. Only two of the 15 wins have been by one run and the average margin of defeat for Baltimore was more than five runs. The run line (-1.5 -150) is still a solid value despite the price.

HOUSTON -1.5
ANALYSIS: We're picking on the rookie debut of Glenn Otto of the Rangers on Friday Otto was just acquired in the Joey Gallo trade and is starting against a formidable Houston Astros lineup. I like this price for the run line (-1.5, -130), given the possibility of this to be a throwaway game for the Rangers if things get out of hand early. Jake Odorizzi has been solid enough to handle the Rangers and eight of the last nine losses for Texas have been by multiple runs,

ANALYSIS: The bullpen for Baltimore is still bad and faces a much tougher test against the Rays on Friday. The Rays had the day off Thursday, while Baltimore played an afternoon game and this is a divisional game in which the teams know each other well. I expect the Rays will blow this game open and the Orioles may contribute a bit to the total as well. The Rays are 38-21-2 to the Over on the road, while Baltimore is 35-24-1 to the Over at home.

ANALYSIS: I’ve played a good number of totals at Truist Park this year and it’s been largely successful, as the Braves are 34-23-5 on the Over when playing at home. Adding to the value of this play is Kevin Gausman’s recent poor performance. He has failed to pitch further than the fifth inning in six of his last seven starts and the total has gone past nine in each of those The Giants hit lefties well and Max Fried throws a good deal of fastballs, I think we get runs from both clubs Friday.
