    Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

    Parx - Race #1
    Picks Notes
#3 MENDED WE STAND (9-2) Right set-up, right price for barn that produced his best race at 6F.
#8 OLD HEAD (8-1) Good long sprint record at Parx, enters 24-percent claim barn, price attached.
#2 SEEKING THE DREAM (5-2) Beaten fave in 4 of last 6, drops off claim for trainer that spots ‘em well.
Race Summary Tough race with several recent claims eyeing this condition. MENDED WE STAND drew away to win off the re-claim, projects an ideal stalking trip on the class rise and ran her best race at this distance when she won at Parx. Bet to win and place and play a 2-3-8 exacta box.
    Parx - Race #2
    Picks Notes
#5 SEEYOUTATTHEHOP (6-1) Troubled trip behind runaway, gets Lasix, value remains.
#6 STYLE TO FOLLOW (4-1) Bid 3-wide on turn, no match for 7-1 firster at Tampa Bay Downs.
#7 CHIT CHAT CHUB (2-1) Took money off bullet workout at Belmont, raced wide to finish second.
Race Summary SEEYOUATTHEHOP finished a length behind morning-line favorite CHIT CHAT CHUB for the place spot in a useful – and troubled -- debut at 31-1. She drops in for a tag, worked in :48 flat since her race and gets Lasix. Bet to win and place.
    Parx - Race #4
    Picks Notes
#6 JACKSON ROAD (6-1) Late runner returns to main track, returns as gelding, won with Gonzalez.
#5 BURN THE EVIDENCE (7-2) Beaten fave last out romped twice at Parx, might need passing gear.
#7 WHO KNOWS (9-5) Held safe the lead in slow – but crowded – maiden field after dueling.
Race Summary JACKSON ROAD makes his first start as a gelding and is working forwardly for his seasonal debut. The race favorites should provide ample pace flow for a possible upset victory at 6-1/2F. Bet to win and place and play 6-5 and 6-7 exactas.

    Race 4 - Allowance - 6.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $40000 Class Rating: 77

FOR REGISTERED INDIANA BREDS FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON THREE RACES. THREE YEAR OLDS, 120 LBS.; OLDER, 124 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF A RACE SINCE APRIL 21 ALLOWED 2 LBS.

    RECOMMENDED CHOICES
    # 1 E'S MAGIC 8/5
    # 4 NONEOFYOURBUSINESS 5/2
    # 2 ADDICTED TO LOVE 4/1

E'S MAGIC looks to be a decent contender. Strong average speed figs in dirt sprint races make this horse a contender. Her 77 average has this filly with among the top Speed Figures for this event. Davis has her trained solidly to break rapidly out of the starting gate. NONEOFYOURBUSINESS - Have to assume this equine will do well again today. Her 63 average has this filly with among the strongest Equibase Speed Figs for this race. ADDICTED TO LOVE - Trainer boasts solid win figs at this distance and surface. Must be considered in this race if only for the very good speed figure earned in the last contest.

    Louisiana Downs - Race #7 - Post: 6:35pm - Allowance - 8.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $28,000 Class Rating: 82

    Rating:

    #8 CHEAPSKATE DIVA (ML=6/1)
    #5 FORT POLK (ML=9/2)

CHEAPSKATE DIVA - This pony should go right out to the early lead and may never look back. Could wire the field. Ran last time out against a tougher field at Fair Grounds. The move to a lower class rank should suit her well. FORT POLK - This jockey and conditioner's horses have been generating a lucrative return on investment. 61-65-69 are last 3 speed ratings. Improving each time out is something she should do again in this event.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #3 OLIVIA G (ML=3/1), #6 BOX OF PICTURES (ML=7/2), #4 HIGHLY WICKED (ML=8/1),

OLIVIA G - Tough to keep following this sort of 'bridesmaid' horse. BOX OF PICTURES - Hard to play at 7/2 odds after the two most recent efforts. HIGHLY WICKED - 8/1 is just too low of a reward to take on most any racer that has run poorly in back to back efforts.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Turf Man - CHEAPSKATE DIVA - Don't overlook this horse in your wagering. She owns the best average class figure against these horses in this event.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Bet on #8 CHEAPSKATE DIVA to win if you can get at least 2/1 odds

    Mountaineer Park - Race #2 - Post: 7:25pm - Allowance - 5.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $18,800 Class Rating: 71

    Rating:

    #3 HONOUR'S CHOICE (ML=8/1)
    #1 MAGNA CAT (ML=9/2)

HONOUR'S CHOICE - Batista is back up for another contest today after riding aboard this animal for the first ride on April 30th and ought to know the ropes to this one a little better. This jockey/handler duo has been producing a very beneficial ROI, right at +124. I really like that most recent effort on Apr 30th at Mountaineer Park where she ran first. MAGNA CAT - The ROI when Aviles and Godsey team up is fantastic. Godsey, the trainer, shows intent by adding Lasix in this event. A positive sign. Earnings per race is something that I think can be an important factor. This thoroughbred is ranked the highest in this bunch.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #4 BETTY'S SONG (ML=8/5), #7 WANDA SUSIE DOOZY (ML=3/1), #2 SYBARITE (ML=7/2),

BETTY'S SONG - Hasn't finished in the money in any sprint affairs recently. Doubtful to see her doing it today either. WANDA SUSIE DOOZY - Difficult to wager on this questionable contender today. Make her show you something in a short distance event before you bet on her in a race of 5 1/2 furlongs. SYBARITE - I just don't possess a good feeling about this questionable contender in this race.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Put your money on #3 HONOUR'S CHOICE on the nose if you can get odds of 5/2 or more
    EXACTA WAGERS: Box [1,3]

    Race 5 - Claiming - 5.5f on the Dirt. Purse: $14000 Class Rating: 72

FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NOT WON TWO RACES SINCE MAY 21, 2023. THREE YEAR OLDS, 120 LBS.; OLDER, 124 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF A RACE SINCE MARCH 21 ALLOWED 2 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $5,000

    RECOMMENDED CHOICES
    # 2 OLD MAN WINTER 9/5
    # 1 FOLLOW THE SIGNS 2/1
    # 7 MASETA 10/1

OLD MAN WINTER looks like the bet in here. Could provide positive returns based on formidable recent speed figs with an average of 74. Acquilano has him trained soundly to break swiftly out of the starting gate. Earnings per start at the distance/surface is a good handicapping angle. This horse ranks at the top in this field. FOLLOW THE SIGNS - I like the jockey on this gelding - strong chance to win the contest. The average class figure of 71 makes this one difficult to beat. MASETA - Has longshot possibilities and could score at boxcar odds. The extreme drop in competition can only help this one this time around.
