The Trailblazers are just 8-9 on the road this season but 10-2 at home, covering the spread 67% of the time. Their offense lights up in this building as they have averaged 105.5 per game in their home games this season. Combined that with the fact that have a very solid defense (93.8 per game allowed), and this Blazers team is very hard to beat at home. We come off a nice game of the month winner with the Bucks as well as a win with Niagara on Tuesday. Hope you and your had a great holiday. As per today, just 1 selection. Let's roll with the Magic at home today against the Hornets. The Hornets are one of the most unpredictable teams in the league as you never know when this team is going to come and play half decent or when they will lay down. Such was the case when this team played the Lakers and got their tails handed to them at home. They come off that embarrassing loss but they run into an Orlando team that is one of the best ATS teams in the league currently. I wan t to show you what Orlando has done over the past 2 weeks or so. Keep in mind that this team is 22-6 thus far this year and 12-3 at home SU. As per the last two weeks, the Magic defeated Golden State a home by 32 and covered the 12 point spread. They then defeated the Lakers at home by 3 outright as a 1.5 dog and that was a game the Lakers were actually trying to bounce-back from losing to the Heat the night before which made such a cover even more difficult. They beat the Spurs at home who were playing well and were healthy when they came into Orlando by 12 essentially dominating them from start to finish as that was the game that Dwight Howard returned. This team also beat GS on the road by 11 points and covered as well. Prior to that game in the continuance of their West road trip, they defeated the Jazz outright as 7.5 dogs without Howard, lost to Phoenix but managed to cover the spread losing by just a point, beat Portland outright and defeated the Clippers. In short, the Orlando Magic have covered 8 straight games and 9 of their last 10 and now sit at 18-9 ATS this year as they are one of the most profitable teams in the league currently this year. It was only a matter of time since this team started putting things together and they are playing great basketball currently. With the likes of Howard, Nelson getting better with more experience, Lewis and Hedo, this team has done well both at home and on the road as Coach Stan is constantly on their tails each and every practice/game. Tack on the fact that New Orleans beat this team on the road by 1 back in April, you better believe Van Gundy has reminded his team of that loss as they took it on the chin at home losing by a bucket. Let's roll with the team that is playing well at home and has a bit of revenge to boot as they have covered 8 straight ballgames as we roll with the hot team on Christmas. Note, that the Hornets lost to the Bob cats, Rockets and Blazers on the road and I can see them losing here by DD as if Orlando comes out focused and strong as they did against the Lakers and Spurs, we should be just fine. Bottom line is this, any team that can defeat the Lakers when the Lakers are coming off a straight up loss to the Heat and able to take care of them at home is truly impressive. On the other hand, the Hornets faced the Lakers with massive revenge as they got beat at home by L.A. just earlier this year only to get embarrassed by a wider margin this time around. Let's roll with Orlando and their consistency of late - besides, the Hornets are 1-6 ATS as Underdogs of late and the Magic are 5-0 ATS against teams with a straight up winning record of late (i.e Spurs/Lakers etc...).
