BIG AL's 5* NBA GAME OF THE MONTH (1st 5* This Yr)

At 3:30 pm, our selection is on the Cleveland Cavaliers minus the points over the Lakers.[/b] Earlier this season, Los Angeles defeated LeBron James & Co. at the Staples Center 105-88, but that was LA's first win against Cleveland in six games, and the Lakers have lost four straight in Cleveland since defeating the Cavs 111-106 in 2004. This season, the Cavs are by far the league's best home team, with an undefeated 23-0 record. And, if that weren't reason enough to side with Cleveland, consider that Los Angeles falls into a nasty 7-27 ATS system which plays against road underdogs of more than 2 points off an upset win, which are off five SU/ATS wins overall, and now matched up against a non-division foe. In its last game, Los Angeles upset Boston in overtime 110-109 as a 6.5-point underdog for its fifth straight win and cover. Look for the Cavs to end L.A.'s winning streak, and extend their own home streak to 24 straight wins. 5* NBA Game of the Month on Cleveland. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.

2 Sunday Best Bets - both NBA.

Rotation #802 Boston (-6 1/2) 2-Stars at -8 or less.
Rotation #813 Minnesota (+3) 2-Stars at +3 or more.

After this latest good run, I am now 233-182-11 on a Star Basis (4-1 on 4-Stars, 47-26-3 on 3-Stars and 38-50-1 on 2-Stars) for a profit of +32.8 Stars at -1.10 odds for the season (after being at -0.2 Stars just 3 1/2 weeks ago). It's odd that the 2-Stars are under 50%, as they've been profitable over the years, and I expect them to be profitable going forward.

2 Star Selection
**BOSTON (-6 ½) over San Antonio
10:00 AM Pacific - Rotation 802
San Antonio has had trouble in recent seasons against elite teams on the road, as the Spurs are just 7-18-2 ATS the last 3 seasons in road games against teams with a win percentage of .666 or more. This season the Spurs lost by 12 points at Orlando and by 14 points at Los Angeles and the Lakers and I expect another double-digit loss here in Boston. Boston is 58-30-1 ATS in all games the last two season when not favored by more than 8 points, including 14-2 ATS in home games against Western Conference teams. The Spurs apply to a negative 40-92-3 ATS situation and my ratings favor Boston by 9 points. I’ll take Boston in a 2-Star Best Bet at-8 points or less.

2 Star Selection
**Minnesota (+3) over NEW ORLEANS
04:05 PM Pacific - Rotation 813
New Orleans is a below average team without star pointguard Chris Paul, who has missed the last two games and is expected to miss at least the next 2 games. The Hornets were up by 17 points against Portland when Paul was injured and they lost that game by 8 points, then New Orleans lost by 14 points at home to the Bulls in Paul’s first complete game missed, and their 101-92 home win over Toronto was tainted by the absence of Raptors’ star Chris Bosh and was achieved by making 15 of 32 3-point shots, which is not something that can be expected to be duplicated every night. Minnesota has been a pretty decent team since Kevin McHale took over as the head coach and the Timberwolves are 13-2 ATS on the road under McHale and 13-9 straight up in their last 22 games. New Orleans applies to a negative 25-63-1 ATS situation and the Timberwolves under McHale are a better team than the Hornets without Paul. I’ll take Minnesota in a 2-Star Best Bet at +3 points or more.
