5* (905) Red Sox at Nationals: Washington may have stunned the Yankees last week and took an extra inning game from Toronto, but let's not overlooked the face that this is a very bad all around team. The pitching is terrible, especially the bullpen, and that is one of many huge differences between these two teams. The Boston bullpen is the best in baseball, plus they've had a full day off to rest. Starter Brad Penny has been strong with a 2.72 ERA his last three starts. The other factor is that this is a great pitcher's park, huge, one that is tough to score runs in. Boston's offense is better than Washington's and very patient, drawing walks to maximize base runners, plus wearing down the opposing starter to get to the bullpen. That's key here as Washington has a decent starter in John Lannan, but a huge dropoff once the pen comes in. Lannan struck out four and walked one while holding the Yankees to two runs on four hits over 8.1 innings, throwing 108 pitches. Lannan was nearly let down by his bullpen, as Mike MacDougal had to grind it out for his first save of the season. A great spot for the first-place visitors against the last place Nationals. Play the Red Sox.

Boston Red Sox vs Washington Nationals:

Boston Red Sox -122

3* 35-0 Tuesday Night Interleague SMASH on Red Sox -122

Lannan has been very good for the Nats this season, but he falls victim to one of the best hitting teams in the bigs against left handed starting pitching tonight. The Sox are 17-8 against lefty starters this season, scoring 5.8 runs per game against them. And once the Sox are able to knock Lannan out of this game, they'll have their way with a pen that has an ERA of 5.32 this season. Penny is starting to look like a solid investment for the Sox as he has posted an ERA of only 2.70 over his last 3 starts. And he'll gladly hand the ball over to a pen with an ERA of just 2.89 this season. Plus, Penny has been exceptional against the Nats in his career, going 12-5 with an ERA of 2.54 and a WHIP of 1.061. Boston is 10-0 against the money line after 5 or more consecutive home games this season, 9-0 against the money line when playing with a day off this season, and 6-0 in their last 6 road games with the total set at 9.0-10.5. The Nationals are 0-6 in Lannan's last 6 Tuesday starts and 0-4 in his last 4 starts when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game. We'll take this 35-0 Money Line Angle to the bank!

Kansas City Royals vs Houston Astros:

Kansas City Royals -133

3* SMASH on Royals -133

Expect Greinke (8-3, 1.96 ERA) to bounce back tonight following his worst outing of the season to get the Royals back in the win column. Greinke is 5-1 with a 2.58 ERA in 11 interleague games since the start of 2007 and with the Astros having never seen him, I believe they'll be in trouble tonight. Bet the Royals.

MLB | Jun 23 '09 (10:05p)

San Francisco Giants vs Oakland Athletics:

San Francisco Giants -108

3* Tuesday Night Bases Bailout on Giants -108

The Giants have had Oakland's number, winning 5 of the last 6 meetings. After going down last night, I expect the Giants to bounce back strong behind ace Tim Lincecum. The reigning NL Cy Young winner is 6-2 on the season with an ERA of 2.72. He's starting to look like the dominant starter we saw last season, posting an ERA of only 1.85 and a WHIP of 0.945 over his last 3 starts. Plus, Lincecum is 2-0 with an ERA of 1.33 in 3 career starts versus the A's. Lastly, plays against any bad AL offensive team (<=4.5 runs/game) against a good NL starting pitcher (ERA<=3.70), cold hitting team - batting .240 or worse over their last 15 games are 42-10 since 1997. Back Lincecum and the Giants tonight

5 Dime - Colorado

The Rockies, fresh off an 11-1 pounding of the Angels in Anaheim last night, have won 17 of their last 18 games, including nine in a row on the road, improving to 19-5 since Jim Tracy took over as manager. They?ve outscored their foes 118-61 during their 17-1 run.

Tonight they send Ubaldo Jimenez to the mound. While winning his last three starts, the righthander has compiled a 2.66 ERA while holding his opponents to a combined .207 batting average. Although just 6-6 in 14 starts this season, Jimenez, despite pitching at hitter-friendly Coors Field, has a more than respectable 3.73 overall ERA on the year.

The Angels have followed a seven-game winning streak with a three-game losing skid, losing the final two games of their weekend series to the Dodgers by scores of 6-4 and 5-3, before getting routed last night, 11-1. Tonight they're starting rookie Sean O?Sullivan, filling in for Ervin Santana. The righthander was impressive against the Giants last Tuesday, winning his first major league start, holding San Francisco to one run on five hits in seven innings. But, keep in mind the Giants are one of the weakest hitting teams in the major leagues while Colorado is on an offensive tear, averaging 6.9 runs per game during its 17-1 run.

Considering their recent success, the Rockies are considerably underpriced in this spot; I would have expected them to be a -145 favorite at minimum.

Mariners-133

Padres starting pitcher Chad Gaudin has been steadily sinking of late and we cashed a ticket fading him against Seattle last week and look to do the same tonight. Guadin owns a 10.29 ERA in his last three starts giving up 22 hits and 17 runs in just 14 innings on the hill. He has been atrocious on the highway this season with a 1-4 record, 6.87 ERA.He has allowed 39 hits and 28 earned runs in 36.2 innings. It doesn't look good for Guadin since the Padres are just 1-10 in their last 11 interleague road games.

The Mariners have won seven of their last nine meetings with San Diego and we look for the success to continue tonight. Facing a San Diego team who bats just .221 vs. southpaws is just what tonights starter Garret Olson needed. He did just pitch six pitches two days ago against Arizona in relief for 0.2 innings on a short appearance. Even on a pitch count tonight it's the Mariners bullpen who has kept them together with all the injuries to their starting rotation. San Diego is just 9-23 on the road this season and playing a Mariners team who has won eight of their last 10 home games gives us some solid value tonight.

Royals at Astros
Pick: Royals -128

Royals may have lost last three with Greinke on the bump, but see that trend stopping here as the Royal ace has the advantage of never having faced the Astros, and that should help him rediscover the dominating form he had at the beginning of the season. Greink vs Ortiz with a nice price? Sign me up.

Wunderdog

San Francisco at Oakland

Pick: UNDER 7

A pair of top notch young righthanders square off in Oakland tonight with Tim Lincecum facing rookie Vin Mazzaro. Lincecum has been lights out for the Giants this season with a 2.72 ERA on the season, but has been even better of late with a 1.91 ERA in his last four starts. Vin Mazzaro has been even better. Mazzaro has made four starts and has pitched to a 1.75 ERA. These two pitchers battled each other less than two weeks ago in a game that featured a total score of three runs. The Giants have been 24-9-3 to the under vs teams with a losing record, while the A's have been 6-1 in their last seven as a home dog. All four of Mazzaro's starts have gone under, and I look for this one to do the same.

The UNDER gets the nod.
