ANALYSIS:
Florida State is one of the most inefficient offenses in the ACC. Only the Tarheels and Cavaliers have been worse from a points per possession basis this season in conference play. Not surprisingly Florida St has just a 1.5 ppg scoring advantage in ACC play this season. Despite a solid defense they rarely find themselves able to extend leads or build big margins. That makes them a lousy favorite and gives us plenty of wiggle room to take points with an underrated Wake Forest side.
Don't think the Seminoles have a home court advantage, especially when laying points. Looking back through the log book FSU is 4-12 in their last 16 games when favored at home. Over their last 29 as a home fav they are an abysmal 6-23! This is a team that was just favored by five over a Clemson side famous for being a pushover on the road. The Seminoles lost outright as their offensive woes (shot just 38%) once again prevented them from building and keeping a lead of substance. Take Wake.

An ugly grinder of a pace, and perhaps even uglier execution, makes it difficult for the scoreboard to change very often (except for the ticking clock), and that is the case in this one.

We have picked up a lot of mileage of late either playing against South Carolina, or playing Gamecock games Under, as fatigue takes its inevitable toll on one-man-gang Devan Downey. He is now up to 948 minutes overall, and 512 for 14 S.E.C. games, and the wheels have come off – over the last five games he has shot just 35-107 from the field, and it has been an 0-5 SU and ATS Carolina in which the Gamecocks could score more than 63 points only one time, a 92-79 loss at Arkansas in which things got real loose in the latter stages. Now Downey has to go up against a physical Alabama defense that does an excellent job on the perimeter (allowing only 30.4 percent beyond the arc in conference play, with only 151 assists allowed in those 14 games), which can make for another long evening. And of course when he does not score, the team does not.

Alabama is only 4-10 in the S.E.C. despite playing that solid defense because the Crimson Tide are every bit as hard-pressed to score as Carolina. Now it gets even tougher without JaMychal Green (14.8 ppg), taking away the only real inside threat, and that leaves Mikhail Torrance as the only player averaging in double figures. So what happens when two offenses playing without confidence or balance go head to head? The game slows down. With the role players for these teams hesitant to step up and take shots we get a lot of long and empty possessions here, and neither team has the explosiveness to create the kind of runs that can speed things up.

The Suns have beaten the Clippers seven straight and are going for the season-sweep here. We see no reason why they shouldn’t get it.

Phoenix is a relentless 4-0 ATS THIS season when facing a team they beat in their previous two match-ups of the season.

In their previous meeting, the Suns hammered the Clips 125-112 laying 9’ at home. Steve Nash was only 1-of-7 from then field but contributed eleven assists. The Clippers have demonstrated no backbone in this situation. LA is 0-12 ATS as a dog of less than 17 points when seeking revenge for a double-digit road loss, losing by an average of 12 ppg.

The Clippers are off an upset of the Jazz in which Kaman has his second straight double-double. LA blocked ten shots and this is a negative indicator. Not only are the Clippers 0-5 ATS (-18.4 ppg) after playing the Jazz, they are 0-6 ATS (-8.4 ppg) at home after a win in which they blocked at least 10 shots.

Finally, the Suns are 8-0 ATS after winning the previous matchup in which Steve Nash shot worse than 33% from the field.

This is a very short line for a Suns’ team that is 6-1 their last seven with their only loss a 113-110 setback in San Antonio as a four-point dog. Lay it.

For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on the "under"

The Capitals lost their final three games before the break after a 14-game winning streak, but they’re still 17-2-2 in their last 21.

There are few concerns about Washington’s league-leading offense, which averages nearly four goals per game, but the Capitals may have some doubts defensively after allowing a total of 16 goals in their three losses before the break, all on the road; expect the Caps to create offense through their defense tonight.

It's also very interesting to note that Washington has seen the total go "under" the posted number in all four games this year after 3 or more consecutive losses.

On the other side of the rink: Ryan Miller went 5-1 with a 1.35 goals-against average in Vancouver, earning tournament MVP honors even after Crosby beat him in overtime Sunday to give Canada a 3-2 victory.

The Sabres (33-19-9) also need to get back to winning after going 1-5-2 since the start of February and 3-8-3 in their last 14 games. They’ve slipped one point behind Ottawa for the top spot in the Northeast Division; I expect them to do so behind a concerted effort on the defensive end.

Keep in mind that Buffalo has in fact seen the total go "under" the posted number in 18 of 29 when revenging a loss vs. an opponent.

Bottom line: No need to overanalyze this one; when taking into account these strong "under" trends these teams exhibit in this position, along with these other factors, the sharp money in this one is indeed on the UNDER!
