double-dime bet 966 SFG (-160) Bookmaker.com vs 965 SDP
Analysis: I'm playing on the GIANTS. The Padres grabbed yesterday's series opener, extending their lead in the NL West standings. I expect the Giants to have a significant edge on the mound this evening and for them to bounce back with a victory.

Cain has finally got a couple of wins in his last two starts. He's still a lot better than his 2-1 record indicates though. Through six starts, he's got a 2.79 ERA and 1.009 WHIP. That includes a 1.80 ERA and 0.90 WHIP his last three starts and a 2.37 ERA and 0.947 WHIP at home. He's allowed two earned runs or less in four straight starts and three or less in all six of this season's starts. Looking back further and we find the Giants are 14-6 in Cain's last 20 home starts and that he had a 2.72 ERA here last season.

Richard goes for the visitors and while he's been solid at pitcher-friendly Petco, he's been mediocre, at best, on the road. He's 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA in two road starts. That doesn't sound that bad. However, a closer look shows that the Padres lost both his road starts and that he's got an ugly 1.703 WHIP in those games. In other words, he's been giving up a lot more baserunners than Cain.

Cain has a 2.91 and 1.181 WHIP against the Padres. On the other hand, Richard has a 6.10 ERA and a 1.646 WHIP vs. the Giants. With Cain getting the better of Richard, I expect the Giants to bounce back and for the Padres to fall to 20-37 the last 57 times that they were road underdogs in the +125 to +150 range. *9
