How do we do the calculations? For instance, I'm not sure exactly what the payout would be on a $10 bet at a -179 line. Is there a calculator somewhere?

MMA_scientist
06-18-2010, 03:41 PM
10 divided by 1.79 for favorite, so 10/ 1.79 = 5.58

if dog and it was +160.. it would be 10 X 1.6, so 10 to win 16

yeah its total. You can bet as many or a few fights as you want over the contest as long as you dont bet more than 20% of your roll on any one fighter.
After the 8 events the person with the biggest bankroll wins .If you want it you're more than welcome to jump in .Its only 10 bucks winner takes all.Its starts with this TUF event ::handshake::

It is when dealing with a card like this full of relative nobodies even if you watched the show(which I did), and guys who were thought to be on the brink of being shot(Leben), or somehow still convincing people they have what it takes to win fights with mid level fighters(Jardine). Tonight was full of surprises in a way, and no surprise at all in others(alot of favorites winning tonight). all in all I stayed away for the most part because I honestly had no way to predict any kind of viable variance for alot of these fights.

I was having a really difficult time coming up with logical outcomes here based on only being able to see one fight for some of these guys and multiple ones that were nothing special for some of the others. Thats why I stayed mostly with guys I've seen before and could actually match things up between. I think we all learned a valuable lesson here: never bet against the deaf wrestler unless he's fighting a brit in the UK or a former P4P stallwart.

I've been a Hamill supporter for a while. I even bet on him against Jon Jones (which miraculously worked out for me). But I can't bet against Jardine. Really sad about this. He'll be cut.

Maybe he'll go fight in Strikeforce

Ludo
06-20-2010, 01:17 AM
I doubt he'll get cut. They don't pay him enough money to really worry about whether he stays or goes, and one less fighter for Strikeforce's infant 205lb division for cheap is a good sell to the UFC. Jardine has wins over Forrest, Chuck, Vera. He's only lost to Bonnar(back when he had a little respect), Houston(who everyone overlooked, including Keith), Wanderlei, Rampage, Bader, Thiago Silva, and now Hamill. Two future hall of famers, an up and coming star in the making, a guy who almost beat Rashad while injured. This loss is really the only one that sticks out as a blemish on his record for now. He'll be fine.

Ludo
06-20-2010, 01:55 AM
Even for those of us who did watch the show didn't have much of an edge over anyone else. There just wasn't enough of most of these guys to see to form any good analysis for the most part. It's cards like these that level the betting playing field in a big way.

I guess this way will keep everyone playing til the end since anyone will still have a chance to catch up. And Ludocain can still bet more than 20 on the next card which can still keep him ahead even farther. Sounds good to me.
