1.4u on Freire to win 1u

I don't see how Imada wins that.

BillyPilgrim
03-30-2011, 03:09 PM
Might take Hawn at those odds too, though I do think he will lose the fight.

BillyPilgrim
03-30-2011, 03:10 PM
Looking at Matt Lee now. Saunders might be worth a parlay with either Friere or Alvarez.

BillyPilgrim
03-30-2011, 03:13 PM
Matt Lee is 40, and has multiple losses to LW's, even a couple FWs. Saunders is a huge ww. With his MT clinch, Saunders should just mad dog this guy. I am just double checking to make sure he isn't a great wrestler.

poopoo333
03-30-2011, 03:14 PM
I bet Imada @+165. I put 3u on it because I liked the odds and I knew it would shift a lot so I'd be able to back out of it once I actually looked at the fight.

BillyPilgrim
03-30-2011, 03:55 PM
Yeah, I saw the line opened with Friere @ -215... that is way too high IMO. I thought it would open close to even. I just have not seen enough of Patricky to make a big bet. At -140, I think it is just in the bettable range, but I wouldn't go much higher than that.

BillyPilgrim
03-30-2011, 03:59 PM
Finished looking a Matt Lee. Saunders should wreck him. I don't know what to do with that information though.

What do you think about Alvarez/Curran?

BillyPilgrim
03-30-2011, 04:03 PM
Ok, just found out that Rene Nazare is a BJJ world champion and holds a win over ther very formidable grappler and MMA fighter Brian McLaughlin. It is enough for me to take him as a dog over Veach, who got choked out by Paul Kelly.

BillyPilgrim
03-30-2011, 04:05 PM
2u to win 2u on Nazare.

poopoo333
03-30-2011, 04:11 PM
Seems like a good play. Veach was armbarred by Fickett in 36 seconds too

BillyPilgrim
03-30-2011, 04:14 PM
I feel good about it, I may hedge it out to 1u, because Nazare has not fought since 2009. Veach has been active and fighting good comp. But stylistically, Veach should have problems.

BillyPilgrim
03-30-2011, 04:23 PM

Pat Curran is like Joey Beltran. He always wins when you think he is going to lose. I think Alvarez will win easily but I'd only put it in a parlay

BillyPilgrim
03-30-2011, 04:31 PM
^^ I was considering a parlay with Saunders, but decided to pass, the price is too steep on Alvarez against a credible opponent. I just did my mini-wisemann instead. Feel free to call out the parlay buster in that line-up.

How good are Toby Imadas takedowns?

edman5555
03-30-2011, 06:46 PM
I threw some money on Pat Freiere. Then his line improved significantly. I hate when that happens. It always makes me want to bet more. He looked really good in his last fight. Toby looked good with his sub win though. That inverted triangle choke thing. I don't know if that really means he is amazing though. I would think Judo gets beat by very good BJJ, unless he is really good at getting top position with it.

MMA_scientist
03-30-2011, 10:13 PM
I am banking on Friere's takedowns and takedown defense being at least similar to Patricio's. Patricio stuffed Warren mant times in round1 and even took him down. Seeing as they train together, I am assuming he has some wrestling.

edman5555
03-30-2011, 10:24 PM
Well he is supposedly really good on the ground and he did knock out rob mccullough which leads me to believe his standup is really good. I just get a vibe from this guy that says he is really amazing. Same thing with his bro. I put 7u on him already. Might have been a mistake but we'll see. The line moved right after I did it. I got him at -145, now he is -115. Action Junkie move. Toby isn't really that amazing though. He can win though. I think.

poopoo333
03-30-2011, 10:31 PM
Freire dominated round 1 against Razor Rob...but then seemed to fade completely in round 2 and lost the round clearly, then IIRC was losing round 3 before getting the KO.

edman5555
03-30-2011, 10:35 PM
The thing about Imada is I don't see that he has really done all that well against anyone except MAsvidal. That triangle was so famous I think it is effecting his line tbh. I think he should have got the nod in the Curran fight though. I watched most of that today.

I think that Pulver's accomplishments have to be considered in light of the era he was in while in his prime.

But as the first UFC LW champ and the only guy to beat BJ at LW for like 8 years + the fact that he has the whole cult of personality surrounding him, I think he's worthy of the "legend" label.

Like with Couture, it's not all about wins and losses.

So instead of paying 7 to 1 it paid closer to 2.2 to 1 if it didnt get cancelled

did it get cancelled or just drop to 2.2 to 1?

on 5dimes they pay it out minus the fight that didn't happen.

Thank god for the IWS ride together/die together parlay + a degenerate no research at all bet since it made me break even last night. I really thought Imada/Freire would be competitive. How do you guys think Mike Chandler vs Patricky Freire would go? (assuming Chandler wins his next fight)

I wouldn't quite pencil in Chandler yet. Lloyd Woodard showed good takedown defense in his last fight and Im sure he's a better striker. I think Freire would beat Woodard more easily than he wood Chandler though, simply because it should be a standup fight. We havent really seen Freire off his back yet and although the commentators last night said Freire thought imada was only mediocre on the ground and not on his level, I'm sure Freire isn't immune to being layed on.

I think it would look like Patricio/Warren. Close fight, Freire may put him away quick (Freire scored a 10-8 in rd 1 IMO), but if he doesn't, he will probably gas out and lose a decision. But I agree with Vandelay, I think Chandler is going to have his hands full with Woodard, though I do think he will win.
