The following fights have been confirmed by reliable sources, but not yet added to UFC.com.

Middleweight bout: Jorge Rivera vs. Alessio Sakara[2]
Bantamweight bout: Michael McDonald vs. Nick Pace[3]
Middleweight bout: Rafael Natal vs. Riki Fukuda[4]

I feel like Fukuda can beat Natal.

ebersole hallman is an interesting matchup. I am really not sure who wins that one. I feel like Lytle could have done a lot better against Ebersole. Ebersole is no joke though, either is Hallman.

I'm really surprised Hallman has been doing as well as he has been. I figured he'd go 0-2 or 1-2 at best and that would be it. He's showing these young bucks what's up, though.

I look forward to getting back to training and to my first title defense. As for Rashad, let’s see what happens with Phil Davis. I will be watching that fight with great interest."

I think this is actually better for Rashad. Instead of him coming into the fight with a layoff Jones will be ,that's if Rashad wins against Davis/Jones whoever he is fighting now

edman5555

For what it's worth, according to Fightmetric, Phil Davis absorbs the least amount of strikes of any fighter in ufc history. His striking might not be the greatest, but he's deceptively good at not being hit.

The scene I have in my head is incredibly comedic.

Rashad gets Phil Davis down in a compromising position that Davis can't get out of. He then pulls Davis's tights down, pulls his own dick out, and shoves it into Davis's ass. Davis can't believe what's happening, and screams in both pain and surprise while Rashad goes to work.

The referee freezes. Then looks around. He doesn't know what the fuck to do.

Rogan and Goldie try to hold it together but ultimately end up speechless.

And Dana White stares on in disbelief, which ends up becoming a GIF that is used all across Internet forums to express disbelief or incredulity at something that's been said.

He looked pretty good against Belcher. I have a high opinion of Belcher, so the fact that he was able to win, even if it was by a razor thin margin, is impressive to me.

And I think he tries his ass off, but he's just not quite on the level of the UFC's top middleweights, and that's pretty much all they've been giving him.

edman5555
05-07-2011, 05:56 PM
No I don't think he tries that hard. He always gasses. That happens because he isn't in shape. He isn't in shape because he isn't training. He isn't training because he doesn't give a shit. I will give you a great example. When he fought Bisping he went to GJ camp for one month to train. A reporter asked Rashad Evans for his prediction in his teammate Sexy's fight. Rashad picked Bisping. The only conceivable reason is that Rashad knew Sexy wasn't respecting the training camp. Even Greg Jackson was quoted as saying Sexy wasn't in great shape. He may be in decent shape for Vitor, who knows. I sure as hell would not bet on it though. Save your money for something better. Sexy's most reasonable path to victory is by decision. If he makes it to that third round and his hands are by his side, Vitor is going to punch his head into the stadium.

Obviously sexy could be in better shape. How much better is a question mark. I think that some people's bodies and cardiovascular systems just won't be able to perform like Sean Sherk's regardless of their training camp. With that said, if Rashad and Jackson made comments that Sexy wasn't taking his training seriously then I really have no reason to doubt it.

I just think that anyone who has the ability to go as far as he did in Judo and as he has in MMA has to have a high degree of dedication.

I believe Gustafsson will be able to outstrike Vladdy, and will be able to avoid any significant top control by Vladdy as well. Gustafsson was stuffing Phil Davis pretty well until he finally did get taken down. IIRC, Gustafsson made a ridiculous mental error against Phil Davis and actually tried to take Davis down and ended up on his back before getting subbed. Now Gustafsson is training with Phil Davis and his crew, so I think Gustafsson's wrestling/grappling will be improving at a steady rate.

I don't know how Akiyama will do. It's entirely possible he can draw things out a little with his throws but it's likely he ends up knocked out because his striking defense isn't great, he has relied on his chin most of the time and thats not a sound strategy against Belfort.

I love Vitor, and I would be pretty confident that an "on-point" Vitor would kick Akiyamas' ass. He's beaten better guys than Akiyama, and never lost to anyone worse.

But the problem with Vitor now is that we've seen him in the cage for all of about 8 minutes in the last three years, and it comes at a time when he may be reaching a turning point in terms of both "fight age" and "chronological age".

poopoo333
07-03-2011, 10:52 PM
I think Belfort/Akiyama is going to be a competitive fight. Belfort doesn't seem to be the type of striker that comes forward and throws flurries anymore, he looked like he wanted to counter in the Franklin fight and he didn't really do anything in the Silva fight except get his head kicked off into the audience. I just think Belfort @-290 or whatever he is is pretty nuts.

SPX
07-03-2011, 10:56 PM
I'm wondering about Vitor's cardio. What happens if it goes into the second or third round?

But Akiyama's cardio is absolutely horrible, so even if Vitor's is equally sucky then he should still be the superior fighter.

poopoo333
07-03-2011, 11:00 PM
If they are both tired, Akiyama probably has the edge. Even when he is exhausted, he always keeps fighting and doesn't stop. I'm not sure if Vitor will do that. I think a lot of people are expecting this to be a wild striking match, but I have a feeling Akiyama is going to try and bring Vitor down. He was successful against Leben until the triangle by doing that, and IIRC he brought Belcher down as well. Akiyama fought like an idiot in the Bisping fight.

I agree, and I think he's a better fighter for it. He's evolved into a serious counter-striker. Not a good enough to stand in front of Anderson Silva, but plenty good enough to outbox Akiyama in a standup fight, IMO. Takedown defense has always been his weakness though. If Akiyama can put him on his back, it will be trouble.

What chances are you giving Franklin over Rogerio? I think Rogerio is a better striker. Rogerio's takedown defense looked stellar against Phil Davis and he's a southpaw, which according to Franklin - is his weakness. Yeah, he has credential and history. But recently, he really went about even, maybe getting slightly better of the exchanges with 3 wrestlers with limited striking. Maybe that was because he was worried about getting taken down... but his hands have not looked that good since KOing Cane.

what does everyone think of Pierce/Hendricks? Close one IMO. Pierce took a round off Fitch. Looking back though, Fitch has always had trouble with any kind of good wrestler.. Diego almost beat him. George beat him. Pierce got a round....Hendricks has the better wrestling pedigree and more tko/ko's.

Thoughts on Jorge Rivera/Sakara?

Close fight, I think Hendricks should be better on the feet and get the best of the exchanges against the fence. Also think Hendricks will be the better wrestler. I got 1u on Hendricks @even money.

Rivera/Sakara = fight between two guys that aren't that good. Rivera has the power edge and I think Sakara has the overall striking edge. I think Rivera's best shot is if he gets in close and lands some heavy shots, otherwise I think Sakara will pick him apart. I hope Rivera wins though.

Also think Sakara might win if he comes to grapple. He is a BJJ black belt. Sakara gets KOd by brawlers like Leben, Houston Alexander, and Drew McFedries. This is a fight I am staying away from unless Rivera hits something ridiculous like +200

yeah i agree. I'll take him at +200 but i doubt he hit that.

I think I already said this, but I think Gustafsson is going to beat Vladdy. What are everybody's thoughts on this fight?

i like Sakara in this fight. probably gonna bet 1u on him. He's the better striker and Rivera seems to slow down after a round. He's like 38 yr old. The thing that stop me from betting more is Rivera has a powerful right hand and Sakara has a weakkk chin/heart. If Rivera catches him, he might put him away. this fight probably wont go past 2 1/2 rounds.

Rivera was doing ok against Bisping for a while. The illegal knee didn't help.

Hardest fight out of those to call for me is Menjivar/Pace since I haven't seen either guy except for Menjivar's ass raping of Valencia

I don't think so...he was getting completely outclassed

you think nam phan will beat mtb???

It's more of a pick against Brown. Besides the Urijah Faber fights, he hasn't done too great. Faber almost beat him with a broken hand in their 2nd fight. And since the Faber fight he has lost 4 of his last 6 and has only beaten guys that couldn't cut it in the WEC. He is coming off of consecutive losses and surgery, and from interviews after the Yaha fight, he doesn't seem like he is in the best state of mind for fighting anymore. That was even an issue that was brought up after he got KTFO by Gamburyan

i disagree with you on mtb. He has been competitive outside his knockout losses to aldo and gamburyan. Mostly it is the fact that Nam Phan hasn't really impressed me. I don't know if he can stuff MTB's takedowns.

My prediction: Machida or Tito

Tito Ortiz? Or is there some other Tito in the UFC?

poopoo333

Yeah Tito Ortiz. I don't see who else would step in against Evans unless they made Franklin or Lil Nog fight Rashad and gave one of them a new opponent.

I wouldnt be suprised to see Tito fight him. They fought to a draw last time and he should be available. He didn't get hurt in his last fight. That is a tough one to call too..
