This sole purpose of this thread is to discuss the methods of gambling as an American in books that do not cater to American customers via Mexico.

Here is a copy of a live help conversation I had with a PaddyPower representative.

Welcome to Live Help, my name is Conor S. How can I help you today?

ME:Hi my name is Ed. I am an American that lives in Mexico. Is it possible for me to sign up at PaddyPwer?
I have an apartment in Mexico, as well as bank accounts in Mexico

PP: Yes you can sign up if you are in Mexico.

ME:what documents do I need?

PP:Well when you sing up you would need to send in a copy of photo ID, a proof of address and copy of any card you register to customersecurity@paddypower.com
ME:does the photo ID have to be from Mexico?
or can I juse my american drivers liscense
PP:Any ID is fine.
ME:ok
ME:but the money would have to be transfered from a mexican bank account correct?
PP:Nationality has no bearing, only where you are located. We can accept anyone in Mexico with no issue.
ok
PP Yes that would be fine also.
ME:could it be transfered from an american bank account to you?
provided I am in mexico
PP:One moment I will double check.
PP:I am afraid not, it would need to be a non American account
ME:ok thank you
ME:what do I need to provide for proof of residence?
utility bill?
PP:Exactly yes.
Any bill or statement
ME:ok
ME:is there anything else I would need?
PP:No that is all

I think in order to open a bank account in Mexico you need a residency VISA. I am not sure though.

What's the deal with Paddypower? What makes them such an awesome book? I thought you were mostly concerned with Pinnacle.

i was just reading about it. actually i was reading vaughny's picks on sbr and he made a comment about placing a bet on paddypower. When I looked at the site it said it didn't accept canadian betters. My original plan is for canada so i got pissed and tried to figure out a way to get paddy. After actually looking at paddy i dont think they are that important to have.

Actually this poses a good question. What are the most important books to have in everyone opinion? Counting those that you can't get in America?

So far I can think of Pinnacle - really good lines and I assume high limits.

Greek - pro book

matchbook -exchange book that doesn't limit you.

I think Pinnacle and Matchbook are the only ones that don't limit people. Maybe bookmaker too. 5 dimes will eventually limit someone if they win too much.

Bookmaker will always be important because they are fair.

As for Pinnacle, yes, they have good lines eventually, but the problem with them is twofold:

1. They open lines late. They are NEVER the one to actually break a line.

2. They often don't have lines for smaller events.

I don't really need lines for smaller events to make money. Pretty much UFC strikeforce and bellator will do me just fine. I don't even need Bellator to be honest. I rarely make bets on it, though when I do I am profitable.

Edman, I hope you picked up that ProElite stock at .48... I grabbed it for a few hundred. It went to .60 today, a 20% gain. I am going to ride it a while longer, but I have a sell order in if it goes to .50.

I havent bought any yet. My step father kinda talked me out of it. I still follow it daily though. There is still a DTCC lock on it. What brokerage are you using? I could not get it via Etrade.

zecco.com

Etrade would not let me buy it either, I think the limit was too low. I never mess around with penny stocks... I did not realize you can't enter a market order, it has to be a limit order. I had to buy it through a local broker who is a friend of mine through bjj. I don't even know for sure if he made the trade to be honest. I just told him to get it for me if he can get it at .49 or better. I should actually call him and find out. The thing is, I just threw a $300 on it just to have some skin in the game in case it shoots up to $10 or something. I fully expect to lose that money. And now that the UFC is going to be on FOX, ProElite's potential deal is loses some of its shine.

yeah maybe, maybe not. UFc being on fox will really make MMA more popular IMO, it will expose many more people to it. That will create a greater market for MMA. It could provide a good reason for another channel to look for a show to promote. There is no gauruntee that will be Pro Elite though. That is what concerns me. They are clearly setting themselves up to try and get on Tv(hring former TV execs to run company + rich chou from strikeforce) and it sounds like they have cash(they made a 40 mil bid for strikeforce). There is the DTC lock on the stock though which means basically nobody can buy it unless they set up a zecco account.

They sound like they have the right idea though. Do shows that are relatively small and slowly build up. I don't know what they are paying Arlovski, Grove and Penn but they will probably be able to make it back from Ticket sales. Who knows, maybe they will even make a little off Sherdog. I wouldnt be suprised if they got nothing for that though. All in all it will probably be a while before they do get on tv, if they do. It's a tough call and def a gamble. I was thinking about buying 2-3 grand worth but I'm not willing to risk that anymore. I read up on it everyday, there is a small group of guys on a forum called investershub.com tracking the stock. They are apparently in contact with lawyers from the company. It sounds like a lot of them are guys that bought stock at .01 and are waiting to cash in for a lot of money if the stock goes up. They don't all sound like stock experts or anything but they are keeping up with it day to day.
